Overall Decent Product, Easy to "Break" and a Little Bulky
I own two. I love the automatic line retraction. Also, when hoisting a heavy load, the "ribbon / strap" type of line is MUCH easier on the hands then the "standard" parachute cord many folks use. However, after about a dozen uses, the first one's spring mechanism malfunctioned so the line would not retract. So I ordered the second one. While waiting for its arrival, I discovered that it was pretty easy to dismantle the first unit and reconnect / rewind / re-tension the spring retractor. So I am using the first one, about 10 times so far since the "repair," and have not opened the second one yet.Two other relatively minor complaints. The units are LARGE (Bulky) and kind of heavy......not too convenient when carrying lots of stuff on belt or pack. Also the belt clip is VERY stiff and EXTREMELY difficult to clip on and off. You would not want to routinely be clipping this on and off of your belt. I just keep it permanently attached to my pack.! use the stand's pull up line to pull up my pack. I connect this unit from my pack to my gun or bow, and after pulling up my pack, I then pull up my gun or bow as this unit retracts the line. This procedure works well. Reverse it for getting off the stand.Oh, and I think these units are overpriced.

Wow! Am I happy! Ordering 2 more!
I highly recommend this hoist for those using climbing tree stands. I took the advice of others and zip-tied it to my stand rather than putting it on my belt. The instructions recommend wearing gloves when raising or lowering gear to the stand to protect against rope burns and I found this to be good advice. Also, with a AR-10 rifle and back-pack tied together, I struggled a little to raise them to the stand without the line cutting into my hands. I'm ordering a second hoist, as recommended by others, to have one for the heavy rifle and one for the back-pack. I'm ordering a third hoist for my brother. This really is a far superior solution to a traditional pull rope, which I always managed to tangle hopelessly upon ascent and descent. Just a great product.

works well
I used to use 40ft of 550 cord to pull my bow up to my climber, but this thing is way better. It's faster, which matters to me when I'm trying to get set up before sunrise. It doesn't get caught up in limbs. It doesn't dangle under the stand. I don't have to untangle it.It feels pretty light, but well made. I can't think of anything negative to add.

Best hoist yet!
I use this hoist to lift my bow from the ground to my climbing tree stand. I've used it on my belt but right now it's zip-tied to my stand. It has just enough tension to remain attached to the bow on the ground without lifting the bow and without the cord coiling around my feet or getting in the way. Once my stand is locked to the tree, I raise my bow and the cord feeds easily and quietly back into the case. The clip on the cord's end is positive and easy to use. Good product, I've been using them for about four years and haven't found anything better. Highly recommended!

Works well, consider model based on what you’ll be hoisting
Works well, if you’re hoisting more than a bow I’d get the thicker line. Hoisting a backpack with this line will really cut into/slide through your hands.

Totally worth the money!
This is awesome for pulling up your bow or gun. I strap this to my pack or bet when I’m running and gunning. Windes itself up nicely. Have had no issues with it sticking or getting tangled up. This is a great product. My brother likes his as well.

No more tangled rope!
I bought this after furiously fighting with tangled ropes in the predawn hours trying to get my bow hoisted up the tree. I attached it to my Summit stand using two black zipties and have had zero issues with it. I like how it lets out line as I climb, while keeping the rope tight so it doesn't get caught on wayward branches. I'm amazed that I went this long without purchasing one! In fact, I just added a second one to my cart for use in my hang-on stand.

Works Great
The hoist does work great, its compact but a little on the heavy side(not too bad tho). The only real complaint I have is the rope is very thin and can hurt your hands if you're not careful especially if your hands are cold. The plastic synching clasp is a very nice feature, overall, I do recommend it and would buy it again.
