Import-only 180gm vinyl LP pressing. Live at the Harlem Square Club is a classic live album by Soul singer Sam Cooke, backed by King Curtis, Clifton White and Cornell Dupree to name a few. Although recorded in 1963, the LP first saw the light in 1985. Live at the Harlem Square Club easily stands the test of time next to albums such as James Brown's Live at the Apollo or Jackie Wilson's Live at the Copa. In 2003, the album was ranked number 443 on Rolling Stone Magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. This audiophile vinyl edition contains the most recent remastered audio version (2005) for the first time on vinyl ever! 10 tracks. Review: Highly recommend - Killer album! A Real Revelation
The quality of the product was very good. Nice pressing, good quality overall. The performance is incredible! I'll just echo what you've probably already read - this is a charged and raucous performance. The band was great (King Curtis adds some beautiful sax work), and Sam Cooke's vocals demonstrate the magnificent poise that he is known for but add an urgency that his studio recordings only occasionally highlight. This is Sam sounding a lot closer to James Brown than to Nat King Cole. Just a fantastic performance.

Never heard much of Sam Cooke's live material and its amazing to hear. The energy of his show and voice quality are superb.

Title says it all. Shipping is important with vinyls. Mine came safely packaged and in brand new condition. Sounds wonderful. Love this album. 10/10.

Best Live Recording EVER!!!
I bought this for my mother-in-law. It is the best live recording I have ever heard; not because of the sound quality (with is just fine) but because of the performance. Sam is singing his heart out for an audience who love him supported by a great band.

No guarantee of exact version from sellers - but great album
Received Live At Harlem Square Club CD reissue 2005 (8-88837-144962-4) under the listing for the 1985 CD version. Remaster, different cover (purple jacket, standing to the right, with a faded sax player behind him). However, CD came in excellent condition and shipped quickly. I will keep, but audiophiles as usual must be careful when looking for a specific release version. The 2005 is an acceptable remaster of this album. You want to avoid the 2013 remaster that mutes the audience even further.

In fact I changed the record for a CD which I had meant to order in the first place! That said, the whole compilation is nothing short of terrific and with Sam Cooke's very special voice and passion has become my daily 'must play'. His sad demise so long ago is a serious loss to soul music.

Die Aufnahmen aus dem Harlem Square Club wurden erst in den 1980er-Jahren durch die Plattenfirma veröffentlicht. Sam Cooke, der für die Plattenfirma von seinem Image her immer als Saubermann verkauft wurde, hört sich auf dieser Platte ganz anders an. Dieses Konzert vor einem schwarzen Publikum hat eine unglaubliche Dynamik, die auf der Platte sehr gut rüberkommt. Auf dieser Platte kann man Sam Cooke nochmal völlig neu entdecken. Viele seiner schönsten Lieder hören sich hier nicht mehr so sauber und glatt gebügelt an, sondern die ganze Kraft seiner Stimme ist hier zu hören. Ein Muss für Sam-Coooke-Fans!
