It's a rechargeable, handheld, adjustable beam, SUN!!!
To say this light is bright is an understatement. I first purchased the LED Lenser P5R because of its small size, bright light, and adjustable beam. The P5R and M7R have about the same brightness but there is a big duration difference. The light brightness in both is controlled by a computer chip for longer battery life. In the P5R the brightness reduces to about 15% after 15-20 minutes. Still pretty bright. The M7R maintains full power for about 50 minutes then gradually reduces. With either if you turn it off then back on you're back to full brightness. I don't bother with the different programmed modes for the light except for full power, dimmed, and strobe. I use the dimmed because in close quarters the light can be just TOO bright. I just use the strobe to mess with people. You have to play with it to figure out how to change the modes but once you get the hang of it they are simple to change. The light is fairly light but made of sturdy aluminum. It would be nice to have a roll preventative ring on it. I think one can be purchased. The recharger is simple to use with a light that glows red to show it's charging or green to show it's charged. It comes with a lanyard, belt clip and a case that's so nice it probably added $10 to the cost. The only real drawback is that the light is only weather resistant. Can't use this for night snorkeling like I did with my mini-mag lights. I have no regrets about my purchase of this light.

Battery goes bad, replacement is expensive
UPDATE: Down to 2 stars. The proprietary battery quickly went bad. Within about 3 hours of use (10 minutes of use at a time, charging after each time) it now blinks three times every 15 seconds to indicate "low battery." This makes even a low power keychain flashlight better than this thing for computer maintenance. I'm not paying another $25 to get a new battery for this thing when any other flashlight wouldn't have even gone through a set of AA batteries in the time I've used it.Old review: This is the upgraded version of the one I had a few years ago in Iraq. The evenness of the beam (no bright or dark spots) is far superior to a 'brighter' light that is uneven. When you're using a flashlight to light your path, the even beam is a dozen times superior for spotting obstacles.

Almost a light sabre and one bad @$$ light.
I just got this "light" the other day and WOW! it's bright. It was easy to figure out and put it together in the very easy charger. Charge was quick in about 2 hours as there was already some "juice" in the battery. I had to "find" something in the basement this evening and in a dark corner where the basement light doesn't shine and HOLLY CRAP! This lit it up like the sun. The beam is very strong and constant. No flickering I found my old "Surefire" flashlight holder and put it on my belt. The little clip that comes with the light is kind of tight but that's a good thing as it holds the light securely and also permits the light to be carried in any direction from horizontally to vertically and anywhere in between. The hard case the light and accessories come in is a nice plus. You can store charger and extra battery in it and everything fits securely. The distance and beam strength are super. The weight is an easy carry and also feels great in the hand. I'm not sorry I got this light for general use and to "Play" with. :) Heed the warnings and do NOT shine it into your eyes or anyone else for that matter. I'm looking to get the X7 I believe it is with the double LEDs. I can now sell or give away my old "Stream lite" XL20. this M7R puts it to shame.

I just received it and it works perfectly.
It can be a little confusing at first, because the instructions are a little bit brief. But I got most of it figure out. There are a lot of different modes, including a strobe light. The only thing that I have not gotten down was the battery boost. It came almost fully charged, so I could play with it right away. I thought that there was something wrong with the focus adjust, because it was impossible to move at first. I think that they use some sort of oil, because I had to push it hard, and then I felt a little snap, and when I pulled it out, I saw some small amount of oil. It work easily, after that initial pull. It is very bright, with a true color, unlike some of the cheaper led flashlights that I own. They provide an adaptor, for charging overseas, but no adaptor for the U.S., so I have to use a USB connector to charge it. That aside, it really appears to be a well-made flashlight.

This is a terrible flashlight
The instructions for this flashlight are terrible. It has been in Tactical mode since we bought it. I have tried NUMEROUS times to program it for Easy but it never leaves the tactical mode. Therefore, every time you need the flashlight it starts blinking after a few seconds then stops then repeats blinking again and keeps repeating the cycle. For the price, this is a terrible product.

Great little light, but flawed support
I bought this because I have a similar LED LENSER (possibly the model this superceded?) and it worked well. The charger is a great and convenient design, the light is small enough yet powerful and I really want the focusing spot. It's a pretty hefty price but my older model worked well, so I decided to invest again. Within a month, the flashing mode stopped working. Coincidentally, the same thing happened to the older model about a week later. I contacted the company to complain and they told me to return it---there's a lifetime guarantee. Now honestly, I don't use the flashing mode ever so I didn't really want to pack up the lights, pay for postage, return them and then be without my flashlights for some extended period of time. BUT---for over $100. per unit, I expect better quality. And the company expressed ZERO concern about the fact that this happened to both of my lights. I respect the lifetime warranty, but the customer support was seriously lacking. Not even a 'Sorry this happened to your super expensive flashlights.'
