RealTruck UnderCover SwingCase Truck Bed Storage Box | SC301D | Fits 1987 - 2013 Dodge Dakota Drivers Side

I replaced my truck box with this Swingcase. It was easy to install once I cut out the plastic bedliner. Holds just what I need, ball hitch, tools, jumper cables and bungees. Love that it swings out and can be removed to use the whole truck bed. Padlock keeps it from being removed from the truck. Instructions are good.

I purchased my first swing box 12 years ago and it has remained in great shape all these years. My Dodge Dakota has very little space to store anything under the back seats, so this storage box has been a great asset. I recently decided to purchase one for the passenger side too and noticed the swing out release lever has been improved - it's now easier to grasp & operate. Plus the lift off lock is a nice addition. Unfortunately, in trying to swing out the older box after not doing so for several years, I accidentally cracked the box as I didn't notice that the hinges were rusted tight. I think the newer version might not do that, but I'd recommend occasionally swinging out the box and/or oiling the hinges so they keep moving freely. If I hadn't broken the older box, who knows how long it would have last . . . at least now I'll have two identical boxes as I've just ordered a replacement for the driver's side. :)

I was looking at building side boxes for my pickup when I ran into these. They are pretty nice boxes. Install is easy. Lots of room. I especially like the ability to remove them when I need the space for a load. Couple of observations:- The bolts supplied for mounting are self-drilling 1/4-20 thread. I was concerned about ability of these screws to hold in sheet metal so I installed rivnuts instead (not supplied with the box - you would need six for each box). I used the mounting bracket as template to mark mounting points and then drilled for 1/4-20 rivnuts. Means a slightly larger hole but a much neater and more secure install. If I ever remove the boxes the rivnuts will look a lot better than a ragged hole.- The degree of security is not great. These have a single point 1/4-turn lock and it would be easy to pry open the top (probably breaking it in the process) so don't expect to store valuables inside. I use them mainly for emergency winter stuff like a tow chain, collapsible shovel, tire chains, jumper cables and such. I also have them under a tonneau cover so hopefully out of sight, out of mind.

Product looks tough but packaging is atrocious have ordered now my third passenger side toolbox and every one of them has the same parts missing and broken

We get two boxes. Diver's and passenger's. Installed passenger's first and then driver's. Driver toolbox have the same mounting plate as passenger and must be totally different as the boxes are. Somebody made a huge mistake packing and shipping this. The box is really nice but more than 2 hours solving this problem in order to use them. The same key shipped works for both boxes, so NO security if somebody has other box like yours.

These boxes were way better than I expected them to be. So easy to install, and hold more than I thought.

Trouble free transaction, quick shipping and quality product. Weird how the left and right boxes are a completely different design.

Found in Amazon Warehouse at a good price. I’ve been wanting one for my vintage 89 Dakota sport Convertible for awhile. It allows me to lock things in the bed with easy access since I’ve had a tonneau cover since purchasing the truck in 91.
