HIMI Men's Comfort Genuine Leather Ratchet Dress Belt with Automatic Click Buckle

First time I ever bought a belt that needed assembly, fancy stuff. You cut the belt easily to the size that works for you with some scissors in case the reader was wondering. I took me three tries to find the right length and I like it so far but it feels weird compared to my other two older and worn belts with compression buckles in that it's backwards feeling. Pretty sure I installed it correctly but instead of pushing the belt in and the buckle up on the other side to release the slide part you just pull the edge of the buckle forward away from your waist. It also has a track on the inside that locks the slide in place, which is new to me and I like that part. You have to cut it the right size or the belt will be to big and won't reach the locking track. Once I get used to the buckle operation it'll be fine, it's look very nice as well. Initial Review August 18, 2021 I've had 5 or 6 of these types of ratchet belts over the past couple of years. Once I tried one I didn't look back. I tossed all of my old belts in the trash. These buckles are very easy to use including the ability to loosen or tighten in 1/4 inch increments. they look nice, wear well, and don't show the holes from the old style buckles. Once size fits all is great too. Nothing is perfect and I have had a couple of issues with these buckles along the way. 1) With older ratchet belts the prongs that grabbed onto the bitter end of the belt were not long enough or side enough to get a good grip and eventually tore out. This HiMi model corrected that issue. The prongs are longer and there are more of them. 2) The basic ratchet design changes from one manufacturer to another. Some have metal parts that stick out. I almost always wear Hawaiian shirts so there is no cloth between the buckle and my tummy. I'm overweight so the buckle digs into my tummy. The design of this HiMi model is the best I've had in that the metal along the sides are smooth with nothing protruding to be uncomfortable. Pros: - Easy to adjust the size of the belt. - Easy to attach the belt to the buckle (normally only needs to be done once) - Easy to latch the working end of the belt into the buckle. - Easy to lift the buckle releasing the belt. - Easy to adjust tighter or looser in 1/4 inch increments. - Priced right Cons: - I can't think of any I high recommend this belt/buckle.

I've bought several of these. They are infinitely adjustable, quick release, and fairly durable. They also look good. Highly recommended. Especially at the price point.

Just a heads up, I don't do a lot of reviews... I've been interested and skeptical of these type of belts for quite some time. I got a two of them (Just different color buckles) on a Lightning Deal. I've got a gut, but my waste itself seems to change frequently. Additionally I'm disabled for several physical issues including Cervical surgeries and lower back issues. The lower back issue really acts up when my shorts/pants slip down off of my actual waste during time spent on my spent on my feet for more than 30 minutes. This puts undue pressure on my lower extremities and exacerbates my lower back pain. I have belt issues, slide clamps won't ever stay tight and regular leather belts I find myself making new holes over time, but they stretch throughout the day and do not stay tight enough. I've only had it for less than a week, but I am already completely impressed! Setup and sizing was a painless ordeal thanks in part to the lightly perforated cut lines, and then all you have to do is slide it into the buckle & flip a clamp. The quality of the belt material seems similar to many belts I've purchased over the years for quite a bit more money. Most importantly the click system just works! If I need to tighten or loosen it for any reason it is simple to do. So far I have not found it to loosen throughout the day. I'll be on my feet for a while tomorrow so that will be the stress test, but I really do not expect any issues. I am not sure of the longevity of the materials. If it lasts for a year I will still consider it a five star product at its current price! If I do run into any issues prior to that I will definitely update my review to reflect my new opinion. 07/12/2019 Update: So I've lost a lot of weight lately, and I think it's time to trim one of the two belts I purchased. They have not frayed or ever slipped on me thus far!!!! I will check back in a few months for another update. For me having a belt not fall apart after a few months of me cranking on it is awesome!

I bought this looking for a better priced adjustable belt. I have used other slide belts in the past. They were usually priced in the $45 range. This belt was a much better price point so I thought I would try it to see if it at least lasted 1/3 of the time as those other belts. I have used the belt for about over 6 months now. I have been very pleased with the quality and durability and haven't had any issues so far. I think my other belts lasted between 12-18 months and were completely trashed by then. The black surface finish has lasted better than the other belts too. There are only a few small areas on the edge where the black has been worn off (which is much better than more expensive alternatives I have used). I recommend cutting it slightly longer than required and then trimming off 1/4" about every 3 months. That can help with the longevity of the belt so where it is gripped by the buckle and where the slide connects with the ridges it will be able to use more than the same location over a long period of time. I think that helps with longevity in my opinion. I also recommend changing the direction you wear your belt to prevent it from taking shape around your body and staying a little straighter. My only complaint is that inserting the belt end into the buckle/slider is a little bit more tricky than on other belts, but once I got used to the motion it doesn't bother me at all. I don't feel like it detracts from the quality or ease of use. It was just something I had to adjust to, but may be something that others may want to consider if you don't have the use of both hands or full dexterity.

Like most other reviewers I found the trimming instructions to be confusing. The instructions say to cut the belt 7 inches longer than your waist size. This in and of itself is not that confusing. The confusion comes when you look at the back of the belt and see dashed lines and numbers. My first though was, "Very nice, they stamped the measurements into the back of the belt so you don't need a tape measure." My waist size is 32 inches so I added 7 and cut at the 39 inch mark on the belt. After I cut it the belt was way too long so I kept cutting. Before long I was cutting passed where all the markings had been stamped in the back of the belt. When I finally got it to the right size I took out a tape measure and measured the length of the belt - It was 39 inches. So, they didn't lie - it is just that the markings on the back of the belt are worthless. The overall quality of the belts seems fine. My only beef with this belt so far is the amount of belt that sticks past the buckle. Ideally I like about 2-3 inches of the belt to stick out past the buckle so it doesn't flap around if you don't have adequate belt loops in you pants. This belt sticks past 4.5 inches.

Product overall is good however, the latching mechanism on the belt had a weak hold not to dissimilar to the mechanism where the belt attached to the metal clasp.
