Speck Products SmartFlex View Case for iPhone 5 & 5S - Grape Purple/Lavender/Peacock Blue, Purple/Blue

I purchased this case along with the Moshi iGlaze Kameleon and the Incipio Dual Pro to determine if I could make a stand case work. Thanks to Speck, the answer is a resounding yes. The Moshi is basically a stand only offering no protection. The Incipio is a great product, equal in its feel, coverage, protection and quality, except for the fact that its stand is a standalone product which you'd have to carry separately. Not an option for me.The SmartFlex is an excellent full coverage case. The case completely wraps the phone and allows you to set your phone face down without making contact with the surface. The speaker and headphone cutouts work well. The volume buttons are extremely crisp. As noted by other reviews, the top On/Off button does feel slightly softened or muted but I've had no issues with getting it to engage. This case is not bulky. Its bigger than the slim cases, but nowhere near the size of the Ballistic or Otterbox style hockey pucks for your pocket.The stand is slick! It slides and clicks in-and-out of place with ease and can be used in either Landscape or Portrait positions. If you're looking for a full coverage case, that isn't too bulky and has a stand ideal for Facetime, Skype, Sonos, or any type of "active" control/app, then this is your case. There simply isn't another comparable product on the market that combines all of these features.

This is a great case. It looks good, fits perfectly, has cutouts in all the right places, has its own buttons that line up exactly with the power and volume buttons, adds a lip so the iPhone doesn't rest directly on its face when put face down and has a kickstand that works for both portrait and landscape modes.Other cases with kickstands fall down when the iPhone or the table is bumped; the "rubber band" effect causes those kickstands to fold away when bumped. By design, the kickstand on this case stays out until you put it away. No amount of bumping will allow this kickstand to accidentally fold up.The kickstand's weakness is that its viewing angle isn't adjustable. When I use the kickstand in portrait mode for Facetime, the iPhone is always angled at 75 degrees or so. This means that I have to sit close to and above the iPhone so people can see me in the camera. It also means that the view is a little awkward because the background behind me is pretty far up the wall which looks odd to the viewer. It'd be nicer if I could adjust it to a steeper angle, like 80 or 85 degrees or so. My workaround is to put an Post-It notepad under the kickstand or find something else to wedge behind it for a closer-to-90-degree angle. It's not a deal killer but it's a minor drawback.It doesn't have a cutout for the Apple logo on the back of the iPhone; some people like having that.The case is rubbery plastic. It was protect from scuffs and most drops. But it isn't a "candy shell".

The kick stand works amazingly and is very durable. the case fits on my fone perfectly... but the on/off button was hard to press (-1 star) which can be a deal breaker for many since u hit that button a million times a day. the case isnt slippery but isnt grippy. if anything, i would say its more on the slippery side but with enough grip that you feel safe and secure holding the phone. and the friction isnt so much that it gets stuck in your pocket, it slides right out. ive had the case for about 5 months, and the wear and tear is minimal. i honestly think that i'll be keeping this case on the fone FOREVER... i have no desire to change the case. not even a slight itch to be honest. if you want a simple case, that lasts long, looks good, and has a nifty kickstand, get this one...Oh by the way, i manually softened the on/off button by flexing, pushing, pulling and bending the button on the case (while detached from the fone). now i can hear and feel the click of the on/off swicth... (+1 star)...

A nicer case than I expected. I like the stand mechanism. Time will tell if it's sturdy enough, but so far it seems to be a good design and works equally well in portrait and landscape modes.One thing I like is that the case grabs the 5/5s by the edges and not by the screen. The upshot of this is that a full sized screen protector can be used rather than a "case friendly" version.So far I only have two gripes. The first is that there's no protective liner inside the case. From what I gather the 5/5s's back is a bit scratch prone. This isn't a huge problem since there's enough room in the case to accommodate a full body protector. The second is that the case colors are a bit muted. I would have been happier with more vibrant colors and more choices.All in all a good protective case with a very useful and unobtrusive stand incorporated into the back. Highly rated by iLounge.

I've had this case for close to two months now and it has been great. My only worry when purchasing it was the durability of the built-in kick stand. It seemed a bit weak and I was worried it would end up braking after not too long. I'm happy to say that after A LOT of use it is still in perfect condition. I've even dropped the phone a couple of times with the stand out and it has survived just fine. Overall a great case which provides good protection and a pretty cool accessory. Would definitely recommend.UPDATE:I've now had this case for a little over two years. I have to say it has held up extremely well. Especially the kickstand portion of the case. I was expecting the plastic kickstand or internal components for it to break LONG ago. However, it is still working perfectly. The case does show the two years of use with scuffs and scratches which is expected. It has done it's job of protecting my phone through numerous drops and hits. The only damage my phone has received since i've had this case is some scratches on the phone's back. This seems to be caused by debris getting in between the case and the phone. But from cases i've had in the past this always seems to be the case though.Overall, it's a great case that has kept my phone in one piece well past the two years I needed it to last for my phone plan.

Had a black / yellow one on I phone 4 which broke, Speck replaced it without any problems. They are on the high end price but very good quality. Only had this one a couple of days but build quality is very good and stand looks like it should last.
