AMEROUS Magnetic Wooden Chess Pieces, 2.2" King Staunton Wood Chessmen Pieces Only, with 2 Storage Bags, Gift Packaging, Replacement of Missing Pieces

Finding 2.2" tall King (0.75" base) wood, magnet, replacement chessmen is actually pretty difficult. I'm glad I found these for sale. This size is good for chess boards with roughly 1" squares. I'm actually using these pieces as replacements for an electronic chess board I have.The magnets are surprisingly strong enough to hold the position when the board is held vertically. Not bad, considering these are NOT cheap lightweight hollow plastic pieces. In this low-price category, you really will not get anything better in wood with magnets. The wood carving is classic Staunton design. The Knights are pretty basic looking, which is perfectly fine for this price. You are getting 32 pieces and 2 drawstring pouches to hold the pieces. I've included some extra photos for those interested.I must add that Amerous customer service was excellent. They responded to my email within a day. And resolved the issue with zero delay. Excellent company. Excellent product. Excellent price.

I was truly surprised at the quality of the pieces. The magnets are strong and don't come off the board when I move it. The only downside of the pieces, and this in NOT a big deal, is that it would be nice if the set included extra queens or an option to buy extra queens, and it would be nice if the queens had a top that would make them stand out more clearly from the bishops. But overall these are very good quality at a very good price.

Ignore the bad reviews on these pieces—for the money ($14) they are exceptional—very smooth and well finished. My main concern was: would the magnets be of decent strength? I’m pleased to report that as others have stated the magnets in these pieces are excellent. The set also comes with two very nice bags with ties (one for each army) and comes shipped in a handsome cardboard box (just a bit of icing on the cake I guess—I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t your typical plain white generic box from China).I purchased this set to use on the excellent Madeful Travel Chess set (bought here on Amazon too for $22) as the included pieces are nicely fashioned plastic but with somewhat weak magnets. These two products together are wonderful as a high-quality travel set.My only criticisms are: 1) I would really have loved if this set came with a pair of extra queens for promotion (I will probably buy another of these sets since they are so inexpensive) 2) the knights (horses) are somewhat basic looking and would benefit from having simple manes carved into them.Other than that, this is a superb smaller set of chess pieces and for the money, can’t be beaten! I’m extremely picky when it comes to quality and I like this set.

I purchased this set for a magnet chess set I recently bought.The white pieces that came with that set where lacking a finishing coat.I tried lemon oil on those but it got a little messy.I also tried other things.Finally, I bought this magnetic set of pieces only. The pieces are not big and the horses are not the most refined but the magnets are really strong!Excellent for my needs. They do not fall off when you tilt the magnetic board 90 degrees.P.S: The pieces in realo look much better than on the Amazon picture. Only the horses could be improved. And, yes, they do not all stand completely straight but that actually adds a certain charm to them.

Disappointed with the size but they work in a pinch....

I like the pieces, but pretty hard to play missing a rook, knight, and pawns. Only bright side was this was a good time to practice adaptability with the kiddos

Love the smaller size (but not too small), and great quality. Even the box looks great. Quality product and a company that stands behind it! Very impressed. Bought another one.

If you are using these for a homemade board be careful. I had to buy 4 sets to get 2 full sets where the internal magnets faced the same way. I glued all 64 magnets in the same way and when I went to test it almost 1/2 the pieces wouldn't stay in place they would just push off.
