Time America: An Illustrated History

Lush, sumptuous - every visual superlative applies to this book. I was in awe when I received it (it was a gift for my father) and paged through it. The pictures alone are enough to stop you in your tracks. You want to reach into the page and touch the subjects - the clarity of the photos is astounding, the subjects are joyous, heartbreaking, patriotic, terrifying - not a one is passive.This book reminds me in a small way of the encyclopedias we used to get when I was a small child. How when they'd be delivered, I'd crawl into my dad's lap and we'd page through each volume and look at the amazing photographs of all the amazing places in the world, the incredible animals and scientific things and the awe I felt at all these new discoveries being revealed to me. I may have known about most of these events in this book, but the photos here, the way they're arranged and the almost archival sense to them, makes you almost want to take the book into a quiet room and page through it alone with just your own thoughts for company.I can't recommend this highly enough.

Time America: An Illustrated History  Excellant book! This book is intriquing, the more you read, the more you want to read. This book makes learning about history fun for kids, and adults. My son who is 9 can easily spend an hour at a time reading it. I have learned alot about history, that I did not know. The illustration are show the raw emotion's and feeling's of American's through out history. I can guarantee that this book will not leave your house. This is a heirloom book that adult's, children, and grandchildren will treasure. Great birthday, or christmas book for a person that has everything.

This is a wonderful book to have near by. It brings up very interesting points in our nation quest for world leadership, many events were tantamount in our success. It's fun to go through the pages at random and relive some of our most seminal moments. I'm proud to be an American and I like to relive those events that got us to where we are today.
