NootkasWomen's Felted Merino Wool 'Astoria' Mule House Slipper

Great slipper
The slipper is what I was looking for - wool, simple styling, cozy, comfortable, flat footbed (no high arches or “support” features) and sturdy. I’ve had them for one month so the jury is out on how they will wear over time but I’m enjoying them.

I love them, but ….
I love them for comfort but the soles are slippery and I wish they had rubber soles. I wonder if I could add rubber soles. I am Kooning for something similar with rubber soles.

PERFECT!
I never write reviews but these wool slippers are perfect. They continue to shape to my foot with wear and are so cozy and comfortable. Expensive but excellent quality and should last a long time.

Buy them!
I have had these slippers for over two years. I was very skeptical about spending this much money on slippers to be honest, but I was tired of the cheap ones wearing out so fast. I also have always had a hard time with my feet getting sweaty and slippers quickly becoming...well...smelly.I wear these a LOT. In the fall, winter, and spring it's not uncommon me to wear these most of the day at least 3 days a week when I work from home. The other days they are worn for several hours each night. They are slightly magical in that they do not overheat my feet and...I kid you not...these two year old slippers have no stink. None! They have held their shape well and look almost identical to when I first put them on. I know some have mentioned the soles can be slippery, but I haven't had issues with that one our LVP floors and carpet.Truly, one of my favorite purchases! I wish they made a pair with a more durable sole for leav the house!

They'll break your heart, but customer service is great
Well, I don’t want to say it, I really, really, REALLY don’t, however, these slippers are getting ONE star from me and it’s breaking my heart to pieces! A bit here, a bit there, my heart is just a sloppy, oozy, broken mess right now. Here’s what I love(d) about these lil’ slippers: They arrived packaged quite nicely in a cute little slipper bag … kind of like their own sleeping bag - all snuggled in , warm, cuddly, and cozy. They arrived fairly quickly on October 20th, five days after I ordered them (but let’s face it, we along with thousands of countless others pay for that service). They’re wool and I love wool (I have a lot of wool clothing items). Wool keeps you nice and toasty, all snugly and soft - it’s like a nice cup of hot chocolate wrapped around your body, and living here in the Pacific Northwest of the United States, during those late autumn months into the winter months, and now into the early spring, our floors feel a bit chilly … so, of course, WOOL!Here’s what I do not love: These lil’ wool slippers were purchased on the 15th of October 2020 for a grand total of $96.83. They have never seen the great PNW outdoors, not once, not even a sliver of any outdoor organic, native, or manmade anything (no dirt, rain, snow, grass, concrete, et cetera). They are worn indoors only and frankly, every – single – day! I don’t like to wear socks, but do I love running around the house in my PJs with my wool slippers, in my jeans with my wool slippers, chasing the fur babies up and down the stairs in my wool slippers, cooking num-nums for the tum-tums in my wool slippers, watching movies in my wool slippers, in my home office typing (as I am now) in my wool slippers … you get the point. They’re like my best friend, until they’re not. I discovered a hole, a HOLE, a H-O-L-E on the bottom of the right sole up near my little toe in my warm, cuddly, cozy, snuggly wool slippers. CRUSHED. That’s what I am … 150 days … not even a full six months (as I write this), and my slippers are dead, and my heart is just a sloppy, oozy broken mess, because of it … and now, I have to find a new best friend. Buyer beware, you only get a little, short bang for your hard earned buck shot with these. Crushed.*** UPDATE *** Well, let me amend this product review with a note. I stand by the review of the initial pair of slippers that I purchased. However, the Nootkas Customer Service Department reached out to me. The representative indicated that the slippers should not have worn out so quickly and that they believe where the hole appeared may have been a weak spot in the leather. They have offered to send me a brand new pair of Nootkas at no additional cost. I’m absolutely shocked! I thought this type of service had vanished from the face of our beloved blue and green planet. Thank you, Nootkas, for making something that was wrong, right, and without me even asking. So, I’m going to give my soft, cuddly, cozy, comforting lil’ wool friends another try and I’ll keep my fingers crossed that I can give a wonderful third update in the future.

Love!
These are great- warm and comfortable and stylish! Just a note of warning: They are rather narrow, so if you have a wide foot they might not work for you.

Great and comfy but does not last very long
Love these and have repurchased many times but the soles are so thin and wear out too quickly would love a thicker sole that lasts longer than 6-8 months.

Love my Nootkas 'Astoria' but you might want to size down.
It's too early to say anything about their durability but they appear to be very well made. They're meant to be indoor-only slippers and I'm fine with that. And I didn't buy them expecting any sort of foot "support." I was after night time at-home comfort and these are absolutely a win for that. They're light as air, warm without being hot, and as comfy as walking around in bare feet but with the added benefit of some protection from the boiled wool and suede soles. Despite their bare-foot feel, they're stiff enough to slide on and kick off easily without bending over. Yet I never feel like they're going to slip off at the wrong time. I did have to size down. My feet are a little wide, especially at my bunions, and I have a high instep. I usually wear a size 7.5 and more often 8. I had to return the first pair in size 7.5-8 and ordered 6.5-7 (European size 37) as a replacement. The smaller size is perfect in both length and width. Now, I don't wear heavy socks with mine and that may make a difference for another purchaser. I'm always in either sheer support hose or bare feet. I'm delighted with my new Nootkas and have no doubt I'll order more when these wear out.

Comfy
Typically I wear a size 8.5 and I have wide feet. I originally sized up, but size 9 was uncomfortably large, and as I wore them, they became more loose and less comfortable. I replaced them with a size 8, and they fit wonderfully. They started snug but comfortable, and after a bit of wear, they fit perfectly. The colours are rich, the slippers are soft and warm and have remained odorless, even though I'm a sweaty beast. They are really comfortable and quality. Thank you.

Beautiful but small sizing
The slippers are exactly as described. Beautiful material but size small. I followed manufacturer's recommendation for women's size 9 and ordered the 8.5-9 size...this is not quite long enough in the footbed and the heel rubs the back of the slipper. Unfortunately in order to exchange the item I would have to pay shipping costs to return and again to order...this would make the slipper costs ridiculous. I have a pair of Glerups which are fantastic and similar to the Nootkas....sadly I will have to keep the slippers but not be able to wear them much because they are just abit too small. Also I read the comments regarding the suede sole and I hope it is as good as the Glerups.Update October 18 - was able to return satisfactorily through Amazon.update October 26 - received mother pair size 9.5-10 and they fit perfectly for a size 9 foot.
