Dahle 508 DIN A3 Self-Sharpening Paper Trimmer Guillotine with Safety Cutting Protection, Blue

This was my first time trying an A3 Dahle rotary cutter, and although the shopping experience on Amazon wasn't great on this occasion, this model of cutter which I purchased from a different website is still fantastic, so I felt I should provide a review of it. I needed an A3 cutter for work and after reading some reviews, Dahle is a name that came up often. I decided to go for this 508 model as the reviews seemed quite positive overall. When the order arrived from Amazon, it was the wrong model. Amazon were quick to put it right and offer a replacement but I needed it ASAP and couldn’t wait a few more days, so I ordered it from another website. The cutter, however, is perfect! It is a beautifully designed paper cutter for up to A3 size. The item is of excellent quality, well-made, and has a good weight to it. It feels strong and robust. The rubber foot in the middle provides great grip and stability. It's easy to take apart and maintain, and replacement blades are also available and reasonably priced. The cutter is very sharp and cuts perfect straight edges. Trimming can go right down to less than a millimetre. Before buying it, I read some reviews mentioning that the blade can get misaligned and cuts poorly with jagged edges, but I’ve not experienced that at all. I’ve had this cutter since February and used it daily, and it's still as sharp as the day I first used it. The blades glide smoothly and cut cleanly. The only thing I dislike about it is the sound it makes when it cuts; it goes through me, almost like a chalk on a chalkboard sound as the paper is cut. It still bothers me to this day, but it's a small price to pay for such a reliable cutter. I mostly cut thicker A3 sublimation paper, but I have also used it to trim photos down to size, and it works equally well. It can also cleanly cut multiple sheets at once without affecting the performance and accuracy of the blade. I think the most I've tried is six. It's quite expensive for an A3 rotary cutter, but the quality really does speak for itself. I can't recommend this enough; it's a great quality paper cutter. First time I have used one of these . I recently took my photography to the next level and purchased A printer and now I needed a trimmer as scissors just cut it if you will pardon the pun This certainly trims easily . Straight out of the box I found it very stiff to operate but it works fine after some effort . Worth the extra few Pennies in my opinion seems strong enough and very accurate as one would expect From German engineering After the third use with just ordinary Af paper the stiffness got even worse and the paper edges snagged and rather than cutting cleanly the blade left jagged edges so after numerous attempts I have set about returning this product . It isn’t user error I suspect it’s the blade but it’s just so hard to slide it at times I have given up and ordered another brand . As I have this ostentatiously for photos I would not trust this to cut cleanly

This trimmer did not work at all and looks as though it had been previously used. The plastic guide/guard was missing and there was adhesive remnants on the front panel from an old sticker that has been removed in the past - but worst of all, I could not make a single full cut, it would barely score the paper, let alone cut it - please see the photos for illustration. This was a very disappointing purchase and the only good thing I can say is that Amazon processed my full refund immediately.

Sturdy and made of metal, the guillotine feels well made and expensive. The down side is that the blade sometimes jumps through track - usually caused by cutting too much at once or cutting something that's too thick for the guillotine to handle. It's easily fixed, with instructions on how to do so in the box, but a bit of a pain. If you continue to cut without fixing, it won't cut very well at all - i think this is the reason for some of the poor reviews for cutting quality.

Superbly designed paper cutter for up to A3 size. Though to be honest, the deck is only really able to measure A4 by markings. Heavyweight, and the addition rubber foot in the middle provides great grip and stability. Easy to take apart and maintain, and spare blades assemblies are available. Cuts single sheets superbly, ultra sharp and cuts a perfect straight edge. Trimming can go right down to less than a millimetre. Ideal for crafts. I’ve had this over a year now, and made thousands of cuts, sharp now as the day I first used it. Fully recommended, great quality paper cutter.

Exactly what I needed. A3 size. Lightweight. Easily stored. Good value. Easy to use, enough surface area to line up for cutting. For the price, sharp: for the size A3: versatile for smaller pieces.

After using the guillotine a few times, it immediately started getting caught on the plastic guide, leaving shards everywhere and no longer functioning. complete waste of time and money, and for £25 more than the amazon basics one, I'd expect it to at least function. Very, very poor. Would never buy again.

Acheté moins cher sur Amazone Warehouse, grâce sans doute à quelqu'un qui l'a renvoyé sans se poser de question après une déception... En effet TOUTES les rogneuses de cette références ont un problème d'assemblage qui fait que la lame est mal placée et donc ne coupe pas mais déchire le papier. Ce défaut se règle en moins de 30 secondes : on ouvre le levier rouge qui tient la barre de glissement verrouillée, on fait glisser la barre en arrière pour sortir la tête de coupe, un petit appui sur le ressort, on replace la lame à sa place, on remet la barre en place, on reverrouille avec le levier et paf, c'est réglé... et on se retrouve avec une rogneuse juste parfaite. Moins de 30 secondes... Donc merci à l'acheteur précédent grâce à qui j'ai pu acquérir cette excellente machine, neuve et moins cher.

This trimmers was above and beyond what I was expecting in terms of quality and performance. I've tried some of the less expensive trimmers but was unhappy with their inability to cut a clean edge in the card stock I was using, or with their flimsy design. The Dahle trimmer has heft to it and even after making thousands, if not tens of thousands of cuts, it still cuts as though it was brand new.

This trimmer is amazing, cuts my card very precisely. Is great to have a tool that is made so well. I had my A4 version for over 20 years before i replaced it with this A3 version. I totally recommend this product.
