Awesome cans
I ran across these headphones while searching for a pair of over-the-ear style, I wanted something that I could use to listen to YouTube videos 44 movies because I have A3 year old child that monopolizes the TV and I wanted the over-the-ear style to cancel out all the Disney. I'm older so I'm not trying to make a fashion statement by having a pair of $300 Dre Beats or Bose I took a chance on these because I love Sony products and the reviews, not to mention that I knew if I had any problems Amazon would let me ship them back for free with a full refund and being a Prime member just makes this even easier. Now one with the review I'm a large adult so least you're cops don't fully in case my ears like my Tony wireless headset for my PlayStation 4 does but they do cover the circumference of my ear comfortably the padding which feels like a very soft vinyl material is very comfortable they don't make my ears hot and sweaty and they do cancel outside noises as long as you have the mic on the line muted if not you'll still here outside stuff because of the inline mic which depending on how you're using them can be an advantage IE your child getting into something they shouldn't. When I first got them I plug them into my tablet fire it up a movie and I was absolutely floored with the sound quality some people say they don't go up loud enough what they do and then you know there's some programs that have sound boost and even with movies and Surround Sound with full Boost the headsets never distorted nice bass crisp treble incredible stereo like sound almost better than a movie theater you just feel like you're immersed in the movie. I've used them for phone calls and they're absolutely amazing and I've asked the other person hey can you tell I'm using a headset to talk to you and they can't tell and they can't hear my TV in the background. I plugged them into my PS4 controller and use them to game and the sound is just as good and people I chat with say that the that is perfectly clear no humming no popping no dropping and can't hear other people in the room talking. Easy to adjust they're comfortable on my large head and they fold up small for travel and I think mine came with a little bag to slide them into. In my opinion this headshot is not a one-trick pony they work great plugged into your phone to listen to music they're great plugged into a laptop or a tablet to watch movies on YouTube and I was surprised how well they work on my PlayStation 4 they just do it all and do it all well. They feel light and flimsy but they haven't broke and my three-year-old has gotten ahold of him a couple times and stretch them out and he didn't break them either which was shocking they don't have that creaky cheap plastic sound that I've seen an older model sony PlayStation headsets that costed $100+. It's only like that I would have had these in stock I would have bought them from there had them match Amazon's price and then paid the couple bucks for the 2-year Geek Squad just in case my kids would have gotten ahold of him and broke up but I got them off Amazon for only $17 they came in less than 2 days and we're going on 2 years now and they still work like brand new and my kids never broke them. I haven't loved a pair of headphones like these since I was a teenager and I used to have a Sony Walkman back in the day. Bottom line if you're looking for a nice set of over-the-ear headphones that can do everything you need them to do for under $20 these are the ones for you. I've used my friends headphones that cost over $100 and they're not any better than these. one of my friends was so impressed by these headphones that he bought them just to use with his PlayStation 4 and saved over $100 by doing this and he games every night.

Excellent sound quality
I bought this to use with my cell phone, so I don't have to hold it close to my head. (Make sure your phone is compatible with the headphone plug.) I chose this one because it was the least expensive. But the sound quality is excellent. The headphones have nice padding where it touches the ear and are adjustable depending on the size of your head. A microphone is affixed to the cord; you cannot adjust its position, but it woeks fine and people I talked to on the phone said it worked fine.Unexpected bonus: I plugged this into my laptop computer and it's great to listen to music or language learning files; the sound is much clearer than the built in speakers on my computer. So the headphones do double duty.I wish I hadbought this many rears ago!

Not Fantastic Out-of-the-Box; But Can Be Enriched via a Few Tweaks
Straight away, I was let down that these did not produce the kind of rich bass sound I was expecting (hoping for) from what seem to be a quality set of lightweight over-ear headphones. The first thing I did was match their performance against an old pair of JVC "Flats" that I'm keeping around for "heavy duty" careless & carefree activity listening, and initially it seemed as though the JVCs were delivering deeper bass than these Sony; but over the course of a couple of days, and testing them against each other across a range of various audio media, the reality is a lot less straightforward -- depending on the source audio, and what you're expecting or are more receptive to at the time, I've found that there are times when the JVC can produce crisper sound but at the cost of some raw booming bass, and other times the Sony will deliver a more consistent robust sound with a decent amount of bass but with the trade-off of some of the more subtle "hi-range" sounds almost getting drowned out in the crowded room.In general, the Sony set tends to deliver richer and more consistent sounds in the "mid-ranges," whereas the bass, and sometimes some portions of the higher scale, can be either hit or miss... again, depending on what you're listening "TO" and what you're listening "FOR."Despite some of its limitations or lack of meeting certain expectations coming straight "out-of-the-box," they can really kick up their perform quite a few notches with a bit of personalized tweaking in the equalizer settings (if you happen to be listening in an environment where you have access to such sound manipulation)! As for comfort, I was initially put-off by the on-ear feel, worried that I'd have to endure progressive torture in a constant attempt to cancel-out their foreign object pressure they seemed to be exerting against my lobes... but remarkably I'd found myself acclimating to them very rapidly, although I'm still occasionally put off by the fact that the individual earpieces are static and do not provide any "free-range" swiveling motion to help accommodate head shape and ear positioning -- but again, once adapted to, these concerns become less of an issue.I like the pseudo "fold-up" feature in its design, but this could pose some real potential problems if you happen to be less inclined to handle things gently and with patience... otherwise, it's a decent function to provide a bit in the way of space saving.*IMPORTANT NOTE: Make sure you're aware of and understand that this particular set (MDR-ZX110AP) are of the "3-banded" TRRS variety (as it incorporates a built-in mic): these will still work with a standard 2-band TRS port, with a teeny-tiny bit of tweaked repositioning, otherwise, if you try to use them in a regular TRS receptacle and insert the plug in fully, you may erroneously come to the belief that the head set is defective, so do keep this in mind, or opt instead for the Plain Jane model with no attached microphone (MDR-ZX110NC).Overall... a very decent head set for the fairly reasonable price. So glad I got 'em.

Paint me surprised!!!
I bought this headphone with mic used at 50% off for only one reason - to find out if amirm's proclamation, in the Audio Science Review, that this headphone transforms itself from ugly duckling to audiophile-grade hi-fi wonder with just a bit of EQ?Paint me surprised, but I have to admit - a qualified, YES!The BIG qualifiers here are that you should pair the headphone with a good dac and headphone amp combined with a parametric eq system to realize this transformation at moderate listening volumes. This means using Windows with the free Equalizer APO installed (no free equivalent for Mac), a decent USB dac/headphone amp combo like the Hidizs S9 PRO (or the more expensive Cayin RU6 for a more organic/analog R2R sound), and the EQ config below. The total comes under USD 150/275 (given above dac/amp choices) not counting a windows laptop/source. I tried this with both the built in sound card in the PC (Realtek) and a Creative Sound Blaster Play! 4 and the transformation wasn't sufficiently hi-fi enough for my tastes, but you can still give it a shot as a first step and decide if you want to step up the dac/amp.My "reference" headphone system is a Denafrips Ares II DAC (USD 850 retail) paired with a xDuoo TA-26 headphone amp (USD 320 retail) and Beyerdynamic DT 880 600 Ohm headphones (USD 200 retail), something together that I was able to get for roughly USD 1,200, though the Ares II DAC is primarily servicing my hi-fi speaker system and so is not something I would spent that much on just for headphones. Even that requires EQ (most headphones do since it is challenging for a single driver to do the entire frequency range perfectly). This reference system does have a touch more "magic" going on for it, but all things considered, costs significantly more and not portable. So what do you get for all that extra money? Better soundstage and imaging, better headroom, real or imaginary magic to the sound, far better durability and out-of-the-box experience without eq., and more bragging rights. The Sony has one configuration that gives you a peek into hi-fi quality; deviate from that and the "budgetness" shows. To test this headphone, I used the Denafrip Ares II dac with xDuoo MT-602 for a headphone amp since the impedance on this headphone is 33 ohm which the xDuoo TA-26 cannot handle. I also tried this with the Topping L30 instead of the MT-602 and was just as good. Distortion becomes readily apparent at higher listening volumes or with bass heavy tracks. While Amir's EQ recommendations were good, the one I like the most was from Maiky76 and pasted below. Install Equalizer APO on windows, update the config with these EQ values, plug in the headphones through a decent dac/amp, and you will find a very pleasing and full listening experience whether you want to call the sound hi-fi or not.Preamp: -7.9 dBFilter 1: ON PK Fc 40 Hz Gain 8 dB Q 0.38Filter 2: ON PK Fc 157 Hz Gain -3.6 dB Q 1.34Filter 3: ON PK Fc 1010 Hz Gain 4.7 dB Q 3.4Filter 4: ON PK Fc 2467 Hz Gain 4.27 dB Q 2.49Filter 5: ON PK Fc 8818 Hz Gain 5 dB Q 0.48Filter 6: ON PK Fc 8580 Hz Gain -3 dB Q 6

Light and compact, a bit uncomfortable, but meets all my listening needs for a good price
These are light and compact headphones that meet all of my listening needs. They are a bit tight-fitting and don’t completely cover my ears. The sound quality is louder and high-pitched.I previously used the discontinued Sony Noise Canceling MDR-NC7 headphones which worked very well for many years. Then last week I had worn them while resting on my couch, and I inadvertently put pressure on the side of the headphones with the weight of my head twisted against the pillow. Although not a lot of pressure, it was enough to cause a small piece of plastic less than half a centimeter at the joint of the left ear to break off. I tried was unable to repair the joint with glue and resorted to wrapping tape around it as a stopgap. The MDR-ZX110AP version is designed in a much simpler manner than my older model from Sony, mainly having one piece stretching from ear to ear. The previous design was head two rotating joints on each side attached by a curved bridge-piece. I find that the one-piece curved design applies too much pressure to the point of being uncomfortable, but this model seems to have some give to it, and I expect I’ll get used to the difference.I wasn’t sure if I needed the mic for $10 extra but decided audio quality is critical to video calls and other recordings I might want to do more of in the future. The ear cushioning is also more of a professional-grade quality compared to the foam material in the previous version, but I found the foam more comfortable although it may have resulted in some of the audio leaking out to the surrounding environment. The inward fold-up when not using them is convenient mainly because it’s quick to unfold and apply back on my ears. The old version would take longer to reorient when unfolding because the each earcup was free to rotate on an axel, and you had to make sure it was oriented so that the bottom of the cup with the wired connection wasn’t spun to the top. This isn’t a big deal but added a couple of seconds every time you wanted to put them on before. The sound quality suits my needs although I do feel it’s a bit screechy in the limited time I’ve tested it. I also don’t detect any noise cancellation. I believe the previous version automatically reduced the audio as part of the noise cancellation, so it makes sense that this is louder. This isn’t a major issue for me because I only use these on my computer, so the surroundings aren’t overly bothersome. These are also much lighter than previous generations of the product. It’s actually something I’ll have to get used to, but I suppose it will be something I take for granted and hard to go back to a heavier one once I do.

Thank You Sony for Making TV Listening So Enjoyable
I have a very very old smart tv with really bad sound quality, and these headphones have improved my listening experience immensely, particularly when watching shows with a lot of music content. I live in an apartment with thin walls, use the headphones all of the time so I don't have to crank up the volume on the tv. They are lightweight and comfortable and amazingly inexpensive for the sound quality. I have bought a few sets over the last 6 years. With daily use, the cushioning around the ears has fallen apart on a couple pairs and the connection on another pair stopped working after a year or so. Thank you Sony for making good, affordable headphones.P.S. They are not noise cancelling, and I use wireless Sennheiser earbuds when I'm listening to music on my phone. Wish I could afford the Sony earbuds.

Great, affordable headphones
The Sony MDR over-the-ear headphones are awesome devices. The previous model that I had been using for years finally broke down, so I decided to buy this MDRZX110AP since I wanted the same qualities and experience as before, and I wasn't disappointed. Listening to music and other audio through the headphones is a great experience: the sounds are clear and crisp. The headphones are also comfortable to wear (but do take a week or two to break in and adjust to your ears and head). But these headphones aren't noise-canceling (nor are they marketed that way), so you can still hear your surrounding noises. I also love the foldable feature on these headphones (probably why I have been buying them for years). Being able to fold down these headphones has made them easy to carry in my backpack, when travelling, or just to store inside a desk.I also have more expensive headphones that I keep at home, but these are my go headphones because they're affordable and the sound quality is great. I can take them while commuting or travelling and wouldn't be too angry if they got lost, stolen or broken but provide a premium listening experience. I also like that they're not noise-canceling because I want to hear some of my environments sounds while listening to music so I don't get run over by a car or bicyclist. These headphones are also durable and have generally lasted 2-4 years. Over all great headphones. So long as the quality stays great, I will keep buying these Sony headphones!

Excellent!
Bought for use at work (to listen to music while working). Works wonderfully and the cushions are excellently comfortable. The sound quality is actually really really good for the price point. To be completely honest if you're super picky about sound quality why would you even be looking at headphones this inexpensive? Not to say it isn't wonderful with these headphones, but really if you're looking for headphones in this price range then these are a safe bet. The work perfectly and feel like they are wonderful quality. Haven't used the mic yet.

BUENO, BONITO Y BARATO.
