It's shabby, but the sounds work properly
It may not have been delivered in the most pristine condition, but the sounds worked properly so it'll certainly do the trick I s'pose.

Kid loved it!
It's really hard to find these anywhere else and my kid loves it! She won't stop turning it on and the batteries aren't dead yet so there's that!

Remember when he..
When I was a boy I was fascinated by this strange TV show I found late at night on the local PBS station. I'd stay up super late (9pm) on Saturday nights and I still remember the thrill I'd feel when the opening music came up.30-odd years later and that music still stirs me up. I love all of the doctors. But the doctor I first met on the ancient TV with foil on the ears was Tom Baker, the 4th Doctor.I watch today's doctors and am amazed and entertained with the gadgets and effects that are employed. But I still fondly remember those low-budget shows with a man who solves problems with a smile, some wits, a bag of jelly babies, and a sonic screwdriver. This is that screwdriver. It's not flashy. Neither was the show. Given that it makes excellent sounds and draws me compliments whenever I flash it around. When I use it at work in my cube I know within seconds I'll hear other screwdrivers going off in reply all throughout the building. The screwdrivers are all beautiful, they are all awesome. This one is mine.

Good inexpensive "starter" sonic screwdriver
This is "authentic" looking to the point Doctor Who fans at a recent convention easily recognized which Doctor's device it is. It makes two sounds rather than eight (who uses more than one during a convention anyway?), doesn't extend and doesn't light up, so is a good budget "starter" for those who wish to get a sonic for under thirty dollars. It joined my now-5-drivers collection and looks very nice on the shelf. And yes, my sanity is questionable for owning 5 sonic screwdrivers. But then, the Doctor himself can't exactly claim to be having all ticks with an accompanying tock. If one watches Doctor Who, a bit of proper insanity is a given. I got this at ten bucks which is about 1/3 the cost of other models. Go great for beginning Whobies who are short of pocket. And of course one could if creative and crafty install their own LED system into the device. A bit beyond what I want to do, but could be done.

Make your life a little more sonic.
The media could not be loaded. I've been building my Sonic screwdriver collection, and the Fourth Doctor's screwdriver is a must have. The screwdriver is easy to hold on to, about an inch in diameter on the base and 8 1/4" inches long. There definitely was some attention paid to the lines and shape of the sonic screwdriver. The upper part of the body is recessed into the lower half and is spring loaded so that you can push it further into the lower half. The spring that keeps the upper half in place is fairly strong, but it requires almost no force to retract the upper half enough to trigger the sonic screwdriver audio.I've always heard that "they" include demonstration batteries, which don't last as long. I've been using it pretty solid for the past two days without any problems. If necessary, the battery cover is easily accessible on the outside of the screwdriver body using a small phillips head screwdriver.

Product was NOT new as presented
The sonic screwdriver is fine, does what it's supposed to do - makes 2 different sounds, is an affordable approximation of Tom Baker's Dr. Who, etc. I would have rated it higher, but the package had very definitely been opened before - it was just taped back together. There was a small nick on the back as well. Overall, it's fine. But it was supposed to be new and was priced as new. Not cool. This sonic screwdriver itself is fine. Find a different supplier if you want to be sure it's new. Especially if you're collecting. Definitely not new.

Both work great! The body is plastic
Mine was sold by ToysNGamesEtc. At $9, I was skeptical it might be a very cheap knock off, since you can't seem to find these anywhere else (I think they are no longer manufactured), and yet Amazon seems to have several sellers who have them at this price in plenty of stock. (I believe they were $20 when they were originally freely available.) But at that price I ordered 2. Both work great! The body is plastic, but heavy and well constructed. I am afraid that tip is going to break off easily, we'll just have to see. The tip is a hard somewhat flexible rubber so that it'll give it some resistance to just snapping off like a stiff hard plastic would. Both of the ones I got produce only 2 sounds as is listed in the description. (I read some other reviews that said theirs did 4 sounds.)

Pretty cool
Definitely worth the cheap price, as the top is made of a rubber material. The rest is made of a cheap plastic. Four stars because of it being close to 20 dollars, where it is closer to being 10 or 11 dollars.I don’t know if anybody knows this, but it does have two extra secret sounds. Four stars again though for them being the same as the 11th Doctor’s screwdriver. (And activated in a similar manner)
