Tavi Tails - The Diary of a Dog: Life Through the Eyes of a Master Human Trainer

I have been a fan of Tavi and Lisa Richman via their wonderful Facebook posts for quite some time now, so when I learned their book was out, I was elated! The book does not disappoint! It is so well written that I feel every high and low that Tavi feels right along with him. When he's feeling a little blue about something, I want to reach out and tell him I know it's going to be okay. And when he is tail wagging happy, I share his joy right along with him! Tavi shares life's lessons as he learns them and is often wiser than many humans. I love the whole pack - Tavi, his Collie, his Lab, his Puppy and the humans that share their lives. I highly recommend this read to all who love dogs and I bet you will see a little of your canine pack in every chapter!

Lisa has been sharing her stories in our FB group for ages. I always felt they should be shared with others. These are especially important stories for teachers to share with their students, not only for the present students but for life lessons for all future students as well. Tavi is a charmer, imaginative, and fair minded. Oh, he tries to make it all about him, but in the end, he makes it all about others, which is the best lesson taught to all. I am buying another book for my daughter to share stories each night with her family (in my selfishness, cannot part with my own copy). The stories will resonate with all ages, and lessons taught can still be learned by the oldest of humans, taught by the parables of this sweet pup.

Everyone needs a Tavi in their lives and Lisa Richman is kind enough to share her Tavi with us. She is able to interpret Tavi's puppy logic through her careful study of his behavior and his very expressive face. Lisa then shares Tavi's messages with all of us by being his typist. After reading Tavi Tails on Facebook for quite a while I was thrilled to see his adventures and life lessons come out in book form. This feel-good book will put a smile on your face and a song in your heart. And after reading it you may just find yourself communicating with your own fur baby on a whole new level.

This is a story about a lady and her husband who live with 3 dogs… 2 boys and one girl. They all have different personalities and appearances. The girl, Molly, who is the oldest, is independent and firm about her wants and needs. The older boy is relatively quiet, independent and often very playful. The youngest of the trio is a boy…lively, sociable, inquisitive and filled with personality, whose name is Tavi! The text is predominately about this newcomer, who is having trouble trying to fit in with his new brother and sister as well as to be able to do things that he likes to do himself! This story is written by the youngest, TAVI, who is trying hard to fit into the family and also get to do the things he wants to do when he wants to do them. Take a look and see how Tavi gets along with his new siblings! And his parents! Each story has a message to go with it showing always optimistic life views. Tavi happily learns not only to get along with Molly and Shosti, but to help others. He is anxious to get back to his work as a therapy dog, when the opportunity resumes!

I’ve been following this author’s blog for quite awhile, and it is always a high point in my day. By turns, poignant, sweet, and hilarious, it is written from the golden retriever Tavi’s point of view. Filled with apt translations in dog language such as “goforaride,” it chronicles Tavi and his human and canine pack’s daily adventures. I “gobbled this up” like something delicious from Tavi’s favorite hot dog man. Great for all ages to read or to read to younger children. I ordered three initially, one for me and two for gifts, and I’m sure I’ll be ordering more!

This is the most wonderful book, especially if you love dogs and know how intelligent they are. I have read most of the posts on Facebook, but not Tavi's early life. It was fun reading about his learning and training his humans. As the owner of 2 Goldens, I realize that they do train us more than we train them because they do love to please their humans. This book is happy, some sad, lots of insight and just a pleasure to read.

This book is full of poignant short adventures of Tavi the English Golden Retriever. His reflections upon his life become inspirations for all of us! Tavi reminds us to cherish our packs (big and small-on 2 legs and 4 legs), find joy in small things (and stick rescuing), finding our courage (and being a flying duckdog), and most importantly, loving each day that we get to enjoy (and giant water bowls to not be a dry, dusty dog).Each small story shares a very important lesson from Tavi's point of view and reminds us that sometimes, dogs are more human than the people that adore them.

Tavi Tails is a wonderful, touching story of the love between a maturing pup and his family. Masterfully written by Tavi's Mom, Lisa Richman, we see, hear and feel the emotions of this handsome Golden Retriever as he grows, conquers fears, expands his world and mentors a new young pup teaching him to swim and dive. Tavi teaches us many of life's lessons but most of all he teaches us we can play together and love one another, whether we are Golden Retrievers, Labs, or Collies. An important lesson in today's world. Tavi Tails reaches everyone from young children to senior citizens. If you love dogs, you will love this book. If you are afraid of dogs, this book will turn you into a dog lover.

I have followed Tavi's Facebook page for quite some time and feel as if I know him and his much loved family - both the dog and human kind. I looked forward to this book with much anticipation, and while I was disappointed not to be able to buy the print version in Australia - was thankful I could purchase the Kindle version. I have loved every moment of reading "Tavi Tails", it has brought me to tears one moment, only to make me laugh out loud the next. Lisa Richman has captured the essence of her beautiful dog Tavi with her clever writing style. It was a book I truly needed to read right now. With so much sadness happening in our world at the moment, that blissful escape to Tavi's life each day has cheered me immensely. Tavi's observations are life lessons in themselves, we all could learn from Tavi! Thank you so much Lisa Richman for writing such a beautiful book.

Das Buch ist aus der Sicht eines Hundes geschrieben, man folgt seinen Abenteuern von Welpenbeinen an bis zu gut einem Jahr. Tavi Tails ist ein Wortspiel, das es so nur im Englischen gibt: Tails = Schwänze, tales= Erzählungen, ausgesprochen wird es gleich. Im Buch gibt es immer wieder Wortspiele, mein Liebling ist all done swimming fish, Fische, die nicht mehr schwimmen und demzufolge besonders gut riechen. Es gibt noch einen Collie, der seine Familie für seine Schafe hält und sie entsprechend hütet und eine entenverrückte Labbidame. Und natürlich Mum und Dad. Ein Buch für alle, die Hunde lieben! Love this book. Tavi is a master human trainer. He is funny, wise, and very fond of water. You can pick this book up to read when you only have a few minutes or you can spend an hour. Either way it will make your day brighter.

I bought this because I had enjoyed Tavi's stories online. Will be buying another to gift to a friend. In tough times the simple honesty of Tavi's tales is a very welcome relief.
