Ever wanted to create your own autobiography or wished you had the life stories of a loved one? This do-it-yourself journal helps record and preserve the experiences and knowledge of a lifetime. Divided into Early, Middle, and Later Years, this keepsake volume contains 201 questions that guide you through the process of keeping memories on subjects such as family and friends, learning and education, work and responsibilities, and the world around you. Created by a grandson and grandfather, The Book of Myself is the perfect way for you, or someone close to you, to remember the turning points and everyday recollections of a lifetime and share them with future generations. Review: A work in progress - Great help to get my life documented. I've had a very interesting, hard, blessed, sad, joyous life. Most people that know parts of my past have told me I should write a book on how I've made it through. I've tried but don't know where to begin. I bought this book to at least document my travels and perhaps leave my story to anyone interested in hearing it. There are great segments that ask very poignant and thought provoking questions. Deep questions that literally make you stop and really think of what to write. This isn't a book of frivolous, trivial, "what's your favorite color" kinda thing. It forces one to really dig deep inside and be 100% honest. I'm taking my time in answering the questions and at times...it does bring up strong emotions from past traumas. If you want to share your true deep and honest story of your life...this is a fabulous book to get. After all...once we're all gone on this planet, our words may still be helpful to others in their dark times. Great purchase! Review: Instant Heirloom! - I am so glad I got this book! I'm currently filling it out to give to my daughter, but this is definitely my favorite one that I've seen. It's got good questions (I've looked at some other books similar to this and some of them just feel so generic in their questions). The size of each page is good and the paper quality is great. I'm weird about paper, I find some is too "slippery", for lack of a better word, and my handwriting looks messy or weird on it. This paper is just right and allows me to write neatly and without smearing. This book will become an instant heirloom and I know she's going to be excited to receive it. It's such a shame when the history of previous generations is lost because nobody thought to write it down or make notes. This is a very easy way to get some fun memories on paper and be able to pass them on to your family. We always think we'll remember everything or that "I've got time to do that later", but none of us is guaranteed tomorrow and after nearly losing my life in a freak accident, that was even more clear to me. I decided I'd better get to writing! I would highly recommend this book to anyone, future generations of your family will thank you!

For the wiser generation.
Has early years, middle years, and later years. Doesnโt distinguish what ages that would be which could be good or bad. In my life middle years would be the time thatโs after being a baby/child. So tween/teen/young adult. Then later years would be after 25 because your cells start dying faster than they are reproduced. I found the middle years a little off-putting. 3 pages later in โmiddle yearsโ it said โas an adultโฆโ I was confused, then creeped out, then it all hit me. This book is clearly geared towards an older/wiser individual. The prompts are amazing. If your โlater in lifeโ is under 40 then I would not recommend. I know it wasnโt intentional but all perception vs perspective. I would buy for my elders for sure! Great quality paper, lots of space to write, hard cover and you can tell a lot of hard work was put into the design.

When the day of my demise arrives, I probably won't have much in the way of cash or valuable material goods to bestow on my loved ones. The ridiculous life I've lived has left me with with a bit of an income shortage. However, the memories I've got tucked away in my head are plentiful and colorful. It's my hope that this book, once filled, will be the most desirable item in the stuff that my kids get to sift through. I would have LOVED to get something like this from several of my now-deceased relatives. Speaking from the perspective of someone who purchased this book, I have nothing but good things to say. Well, that's not entirely true. There's one thing that I would change about it, if given the chance: It would have been PERFECT if the pages were slightly larger. A little more space in which to write would be great. Then again, the size of the pages, as-is, is probably what keeps me from rambling. It forces the writer to get straight to the point and stick to the meaty parts. Filling in the blanks has proven to be an almost therapeutic experience. I'm remembering things that I would otherwise have no reason to think about (sometimes it's a good thing, sometimes maybe not so fabulous...). I'm really enjoying myself, overall. If you were to ask me, "Should I buy this?" my answer would be, "Yes."

Great gift to a retired individual.
This is a great gift to give to someone that is retiring, and has the time to reflect on his or her life. Excellent questions that search the memory for an answer. I think that the children would appreciate the gift of understanding their parents previous life. The only downsize, you have to be careful not to write too much. Practice writing on a sheet of paper and see how that would fit the question page. Thatโs the only advice I would give. Overall the Quality was good and Iโm glad I got the hard cover for this retiree.

Solid gift for someone older.
Bought this book as a gift. The book had some probing questions. But it was bound in a hide like material which I found to be surprising.

Leaving Something Behind
My niece gave this book to me for Christmas, and I filled it out gradually in a few months to give back to her. The process of filling it out was enlightening and took me through sad times and glad times. A few questions left me with a blank and others made me wish I had 50 pages instead of one, but, over all, it was a good experience for me. My niece seemed thrilled to get it and read it which was even better. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to tell descendents a little more and in a more permanent form than one quick conversation. It could also be a good start to writing an actual memoir for anyone who would like to do that. I just bought a copy to give as a gift to someone who had told me of a wish to tell his children more about his life and experiences, perhaps in writing. Even if there is no one you want to show it to, it's a good review of one's life for introspection.

Bit americanised
Some of the words seem a bit americanised for someone like me from Europe but the sections are thought-provoking

Perfect Book
Great book but personally, I found it much too confronting & I couldn't deal with it. It has everything you need but someone stronger than me needs to fill it in.

Gave this to my elderly dad so I can read his answers and have something of his when he passes. Great for friends and loved ones!
