Loctite 222

he Loctite 222 Threadlocker for Automotive (High-Temperature, Low-Strength, Anaerobic, One-Piece Assembly, Non-Corrosive, Purple, 6 ml Tube) has proven to be indispensable for my projects, especially when it comes to securing screws on aluminum parts. Given that many stores nearby do not carry this specific Loctite product, I was pleased to find it online. As with all Loctite products, it worked exactly as described. The low-strength formula is perfect for applications where easy disassembly is required, yet it still provides enough hold to keep screws securely in place under high temperatures and vibrations. The non-corrosive nature of the threadlocker also ensures that it does not damage the metal surfaces, maintaining the integrity of the components. For anyone needing a reliable threadlocker for automotive applications, especially on aluminum parts, I highly recommend the Loctite 222. In one of my hobbies, blue, red, rocksett, are often suggested. After some research and reading, such strengths of threadlocker aren't always necessary or recommended. For smaller fasteners or those with finer threads, low strength is recommended. This is to avoid potentially stripping the fine threads or snapping the heads of small fasteners. So, when I was installing a red dot on a mount, I decided to use this. So far, after "a few" rounds, the optic is still firmly mounted and the zero hasn't shifted.

I keep several different grades of Loctite thread sealer. The 222 low strength purple Loctite is perfect for small parts that you want to be able to loosen in the future. It is the perfect strength for threaded watch bracelet pins. It keeps the pins from loosening and backing out but it is not so strong that the screw heads are stripped when trying to remove the bracelet pins in the future. With parts that are that small, even medium strength Loctite 242 is too strong and requires fairly substantial heat to loosen without stripping screw heads. The 222 is the perfect solution in those cases.

I wish I knew this product existed a couple of years ago. I have been using the blue Loctite on my RC cars and often times fine that the blue still has too much holding strength for small fasteners. This purple formula works absolutely perfect on M3 and M4 set screws that do not require a more permanent fastening solution That you often get from the blue or red. I find the purple Loctite product to be superior for my needs and I highly recommend it for anyone who works on RC cars or small hobby items that may frequently need to be disassembled repaired and reassembled. I use a lot of the Loctite 242 variant for various projects and thought I would get this variant for a 3D printer build I am doing. So far it's working great and I will purchase more. I was going to purchase a large bottle of this but it seems there are a lot of phony versions of this on Amazon in the large size, so I purchased the small size and it seems to be the real deal and seems to work like it's supposed to.

I have a pen that randomly unscrews. This was perfect for keeping it together.

Great product.

Great for those screws you don't want to move but can move if you really need them to. Surprisingly strong for what it is, it was also, thankfully, forgiving if you really needed to loosen the screw. Not good for screws you never want to move again but good for ones you simply don't want walking or vibrating out. Perfect for laptop screws that you might need to actually take out one day but that you don't want dropping out in a cafe somewhere.

Very effective on the adjustment screws on a watch strap

Bought this to use as spoke prep for a bicycle wheel build. This product is essentially bike spoke lubricant and is much cheaper than ParkTool spoke prep. It allows for screws to be adjusted while also reducing nuts from coming loose.

Genuine and quality product. Works as it should. Couldn’t find any loctite locally other than made in China ones. I’m glad Amazon stock this!
