Smith & Wesson Outback SWBH 17in Full Tang Kukri with an 11.9in Stainless Steel Blade and Rubber Handle for Outdoor, Tactical, Survival and EDC

This Kukri-Styled chopper is a pretty darned good knife, it holds up well in a straight chop and batons nicely thru seasoned poplar, then would still shave fat wood kindling . Handle is fairly comfortable and absorbs the percussion effect nicely when chopping. Pretty good balance as well. My only gripe is with the sheath, the materials used are okay- but there is a fundamental design flaw. There is only one Velcro strap over the open end, and it is neither strong enough nor snug enough to keep the Kukri from sliding completely out of the sheath if turned upside down. It could pose a safety issue for the user. But… it is still a good product, more so a chopper than a true machete. I’ll just have to rig something up with the sheath.

I have this knife and have been using it cutting tree branches, maple, pine and mulberry. Edge holding is ok and after i removed some of the black coat on the blade i saw a yellowish tint to the steel, not sure what that means. I have many knives and cutting tools, mostly high-carbon and stainless alloys of which none have a yellow hue to them.I will update this review. UPDATE: this Khukri has performed well. Chopping bush around my house, haven't had any problem. Seems to be better than I originally thought, it is well balanced and the handle is excellent, the rubber is hard but grippy and has not shown any sign of looseness, warpage or cracks. This blade has definitely grown on me. The sheath is not bad either although it wont retain the knife very well in the upside down position but that hasn't been much of a problem, this is an all around solid product and good value.

Warning ⚠️ very sharp, care handling this knife. Top quality material, bought as a gift for my father and already it's done it's job, yes I got cut outting it back in it's sheath. Wonderful, I have to buy 1 for me.

OK Again... So now I have tried out several different brands of the kukri style machete/utility knife. This S|W has a particularly nice handle. The sheath is OK, not spectacular but it sure isn't the worst I've got off of Amazon lately, either. Getting pretty close to the best deal per dollar on here for something of this design. There are cheaper low grade import knock-offs with horrible sheaths and miserable solid square hard handles. I've bought some of those, too. And they will eventually turn into something worthwhile and useful. Just going to take some extra tender loving care. If you want/need/desire a better than average kukri design knife? This one is really good. And having that snappy hot shot name brand S&W box is cool. Nothing like walking in to work and asking everyone if they want to come out to the truck to look at my new Smith and Wesson! G.

Nun Name sind eh nur Schall und Rauch, wichtig ist die Qualität und die ist da. Die Machete kommt mit einer guten Schärfe aus der Verpackung, ich kann mit ihr egal ob mit dem vorderen Teil oder dem hinterem Teil Papier schneiden, wobei es mit dem hinteren Teil besser geht d.h. hinten ist sie Schärfer. Auch Äste und co. mäht sie nieder ohne Probleme wobei man sich da wünschen würde das die Beschichtung nicht so rau währe sonder eher so fein und glatt wie bei der Fiskars Machete. Die Fiskars ist für mich noch immer die ungekrönte Königin unter den Macheten sowohl beim Preis als auch bei der Leistung. Aber zurück zur S&W der Griff ist aus sehr griffigem Gummi und die Scheide ist aus Nylon (Wie bei Rucksäcken) mit einem Klettverschluss recht stabil. Also ich kann die Machete von S&W weiter empfehlen.

worked well for me, used it to cut down a lotta branches, worked it hard and so far its held up well. 440c is better than 8cr13mov and aus 8 steel. i know carbon steel blades are better for hard use choppers but I'm lazy on maintenance so i prefer a stainless steel. sheath is not the best but its adequate. id say its basically the same as the ontario kukri in terms of size weight and shape, but even cheaper. this is defiantly a great buy, i went to look for the youtube video showing one of these break and it has since been removed. defiantly recommended !
