All Aboard! Texas (Lucy Darling)

Not a Great Board Book
The book hits every iconic thing Texas is known for: Fort Worth Stockyards, football, fishing, and longhorns. But the author uses only 3-4 words per page spread. And the illustrations are more like impressions of the location: simplistic, sketchy, and pixelated. It reminds me of the old computer game, Oregon Trail! It would be good for 18months and UNDER, the kind of book you read just to get toddlers used to listening to books, but it’s not a book I feel will pique interest in preschoolers.I bought it for a 2 year old moving from Houston to New York. Unfortunately, I’m returning it. I think I’ll look for a book with more interesting prose and better illustrations.

Cute Picture Book
Bought this book to complete my kids collection of places we’ve lived/PCSed to since becoming a military family. It’s perfect and I can’t wait for the author to expand to more states!

Cute
I bought this to give my soon-to-be 5 year old son on our upcoming move to Texas. It’s cute and the pictures are nice. It’s a little more baby-ish than I hoped but I think it’ll work for getting him excited to move!
