Needed some modifications to prevent screw from loosening
Great product basically. I modded it for replacement on a brick covered mailbox. First thing I noticed is the flag would unscrew the mounting bolt after a couple of cycles. I made a better bushing from nylon and added a square cover plate that won’t rotate over a polyethylene plate to prevent the screw from backing out and a cone spring washer to maintain tension on the pivot do it is adjustable and does not back out. Maybe the manufacturer can incorporate these ideas and it would be a perfect product. Also added thick adhesive to the back of mounting plate drilled out new holes to match old ones in brick and replaced mounting screws with #12 SS screws into epoxied plastic screw anchors in brick. Should outlast the box and brick.

High quality and made to last
This flag is well made with sturdy materials, however, it really needs better mounting screws/bolts. The little fasteners that come with it may work okay when mounted through the thin mailbox sheet metal, but something more substantial is much better. For mounting to a brick mailbox enclosure like I did, the mounting holes need to be enlarged and countersunk to accept 3/16" x 1-1/4" concrete screws that go into a 5/32" hole drilled in the brick or mortar. I drilled into the brick to have a flatter mounting surface. The mounting assembly needs to be disassembled to work on it, which was simple to do. I also used a black marker to blacken the countersinks, the white plastic washer, and the heads of the screws to keep the mounting hardware solid black for appearance. Reassemble and tighten the tension screw to apply the desired friction to raise and lower the flag and keep it in position. The flag is now perfect and should stay that way for the foreseeable future.

Easy to install, the bolts are probably too small.
Installation took all of 2 minutes, but then I own the tools that make it easy, ie a 18V battery drill, the right size bit to drill new holes in my mailbox, a Phillips screwdriver #1, a hole punch (Starrett 18C Automatic Center Punch), and a 6" crescent wrench. You of course can get by with a hammer and a medium sized nail for punching a hole in the mailbox, (mark the hole spots with a pencil, then use a block of wood behind the hole to keep from denting the box), use any size crescent wrench or pair of pliers to hold the nut in place, and a #1 Phillips screwdriver. It will leave a rough spot on the inside of the mailbox where you punch through, but the nut will bend it flat.If your flag gets a lot of abuse, you will want to drill out the holes and buy bigger bolts. These are probably too small. But outgoing mail from a home mailbox is more of a rarity every day.

Made from a sturdy metal
We hired someone to install this on our brick mailbox a year ago and it still looks brand new! The flag is a sturdy metal and flips up and down easily. If I remember right… our handyman used his own, longer screws since we live in a very harsh environment. (West Texas desert with high winds.) We highly recommend this product! Still looks brand new!

Money Well Spent
I don't do too many product reviews, but I was very happy with this mailbox flag, and wanted to let people know that it's a very good deal in my opinion. It's a little more spendy than some of the others, but it is very solid, sturdy, and well made....NOT flimsy at all. Very easy to install if you have a small portable drill. Drill two 1/8" holes in the mailbox where you want the flag to go (you can use the holes on the flag base to mark the mailbox), drill the holes, and use the two included bolts and nuts to secure it...that's it! The bolts protrude a bit on the inside of the mailbox, so I took a dab of Shoe Goo and put on the ends of the bolts so the Carrier wouldn't lose any skin on a bare bolt end...worked perfectly. Well made product, highly recommended.

Powder coated steel
It’s a strong flag that will probably last a good while.Didn’t come with any attaching hardware, though, despite it being in the description and included instructions.
