A hometown gig for indie band Cud, captured perfoming live at Leeds University in 1990. Choppy rhythms, catchy tunes and lead singer Carl Puttnam's endearingly inept attempts at playing the glamourous pop star are the order of the day here.

Early Cud, live - unmissable for the committed fan.
The now sadly defunct Cud are caught in an early stage show in this fairly rare video. Recorded in Leeds around the time of their first full album release 'When in Rome, Kill me', this will be snapped up by the band's enduring die-hard fans. Those more familiar with Cud's later and more commercial material (see 'Asquarius' and the final album 'Showbiz') will recognise the roots of the later style, but will find the songs possibly less accessible (aside from the ever-excellent 'Robinson Crusoe').However, for anyone that has heard and loved the band either recorded or live, this is a must see. Lead singer Carl Puttnam seems slightly less exuberant than in later live performances, but the inimitable voice is there, crooning for all it's worth. The audience plays it's part well, and are evidently loving every minute - watch this video and wish you had been there!Personally, I loved it. The bonus promotional video at the end was a pleasant surprise too...
