A great addition to our almost 19 year Shark family of vacuums.
28 September 2026 My wife and I have been married since February 2003. We did not move into our first home that had carpets until 2005. At that time, Shark vacuums had not yet come out. We purchased cheap Bissel vacuums from Walmart, which were OK, but wore out quickly. Shortly after Shark vacuum released its 1st vacuum, under that name brand, in 2007, we purchased our 1st corded full size Shark vacuum. Shark completely covered the repair of this vaccum where the hose had been twisted and ripped in half, with its 5 year warranty. At the time, our 1st two children were very young, but they were very destructive. Somehow, this vacuum survived my wife, the two toddlers, and my live in sister in law, who are all very accident prone toward appliances, for about 7 years, including the addition of our 3rd child in 2010. We purchased a new Shark corded, upright wand style vacuum, which we still have operating, almost like new, around 2014-2015, after the 1st Shark's exterior parts became missing or were severely damaged due to their rough use. How it survived that long is beyond me (Note: The second one has been cleaned more frequently and properly, been better taken care of, and completely taken down to repair the cord where the outer sheathing had cracked near the vacuum grip). About a year ago, we tried a full size, corded Shark for pet hair and all of its attachments, but found it to be too bulky for our needs and returned it to Shark with no problems or questions asked, a testament to the great Shark customer service. We then purchased the newest corded, stick Shark with the suction in forward/backward option and all the bells and whistles. It felt a little on the cheap and light, breakable side, but it has been a 100% champ. Somewhere along the way, we bought a 6HP 8 gallon shop vacuum for the serious and sometimes very wet situations. Now, all of those were purchased through Walmart, and that's not a slight on Amazon. It is just sometimes easier to return larger items to a Walmart store than Amazon through UPS, on the off chance one could have arrived damaged, and also because three members of my family are employed by Walmart. In all of those vacuums, we still had a few things that corded and stand up vacuums just weren't convient in getting the job done. So, I did a little research, read several customer reviews on Amazon, eBay, Walmart, various stores that offered cordkess handheld vacuums, YouTube videos, and Google professional reviews for the best cordless handheld vacuum for the price. My wife and I were also a little biased toward Shark. Here's why I mentioned Walmart earlier. I am not a biased overal shopper, just because of where my family works. I purchase items from Amazon just as frequently. The best price, specific model availability, best extended warranties and warranty prices, if its direct, let's say from Amazon or Walmart and not an unknown low rated, third party seller, returnability and having to deal with call center representatives, etc. are all factors in the purchasing decision. In the end, I decided on this specific model through Amazon, for my wife, as a present, to fill that specific need, one that she had been grumbling about a little more. Amazon just so happened to have this model, with these specific attachments and the best price, the Shark warranty and customer service, making it the best value. In fact, I have used it, so far, more than my wife, who it was ultimately purchased for. Now, not being corded, this doesn't have the all out suction power of a full sized corded vacuum, but it's powerful enough for a handheld, battery powered vacuum. It stays running for a good amount of time between charges. It works well on our two sets of stairs with the powered brush attachment, it cleans her car rather conviently, which it was purchased for in the 1st place, gets in the couch and recliner nooks and crannies without damaging the leather, it is very easy to take apart and clean, including the a washable filters, easy to put back together, it is lightweight, even with the weight of the battery, it is not too loud, even for the unique vacuum internal design, it holds a good amount of dust and other bits, and even versatile enough to clean up wood dust and chips in tight spots, when I don'twant to pull out the bulky shop vac. It also charges in a decent amount of time and all the accessories fit securely, doing exactly what they were intended to do. One thing that most non powered brush attachments fail at is that they don't allow for proper suction, get bits and hair stuck in the bristles, the bristles become flat or break off, and they are not easily cleaned after use. This non powered brush attachment allows you to use in on blankets, and other loose material surfaces, without the vacuum sucking up the material, it let's hair and other stringy objects get through, for the most part, and not getting them tangled up in the bristles. The bristles are also sturdy and return to their original position over and again, immediately after they are pushed down on. On a side note, the vacuum looks premium without a premium price. Once again, Shark has delivered a great vacuum for a great price, making it the clear choice for the job, and Amazon, just so, had it available. The only thing that would have made this over the top would have been a stand to place it on.

Powerful with a real working brush
Every other handheld vacuum I’ve owned has eventually let me down. This one is the exception. I got the yellow-and-black version at a great price, and honestly, who cares what color a vacuum is? Not me. The suction is surprisingly strong, the dirt bin is easy to empty, and the powered brush head is the real winner. We have two small dogs, so there is always hair on the couch. Training them to stay off the furniture has been somewhat less successful than the vacuum. I’ve owned other handheld vacuums where the brush head was powered only by the suction. Those attachments eventually ended up in the trash. This powered head actually works and does a great job picking up pet hair. This is what a handheld vacuum should be: powerful, easy to use, good battery life, strong suction, and a rotating brush head that actually does its job. Add in a reasonable price and a brand I trust, and both my wife and I are very happy with it.

Excellent overall, but also frustrating.
Much to my dismay, my 8 year old Shark handheld vacuum finally died recently - not surprising since it was so old and used multiple times daily, but I was still sad to find that the exact same model is no longer made. I'm autistic and I don't generally do well with "change"...even if the new item may be an upgrade. This particular newer model of Shark handheld seemed like the closest thing to my old beloved original Shark. Overall, I really like this new handheld Shark. Suction is definitely more powerful than my previous one, and the two attachments that come with it are helpful. The attachments from my old model do not fit on the new one. This new one is much slimmer design and more lightweight - both improvements from my old model. I appreciate that, like my old one, the power button can be slid on and off and kept in that position, you don't need to constantly hold the power button down while using the vacuum, which is very annoying but for some reason some other popular brands of handheld vacuums still insist on using that style. However, I do not like this style of power button...unlike my old one, this button is recessed and very low profile, and difficult to switch up or down. I actually have to use both hands to flip the switch, which is quite inconvenient while cleaning messes - and it still hurts my hand! The old model had a raised power button that was so much easier to push into position. I wish they would have kept that former design! (Attaching a photo comparison of the two different styles of vacuums in this review so you can see the power button differences). All in all, this is a great handheld vacuum at the price point. It cleans cat litter, crumbs, cat hair and dust bunnies with ease and seems to have good battery life. My only complaint is the difficult to push power button, which is enough of an annoyance that I have to dock a star from the review. Still worth the money, but I hope they rethink this button design in the future.

Love this Shark hand vacuum!
I read many reviews for hand vacs before I bought one, and so glad I found the Shark! The reviews are all accurate. Lightweight, strong suction, battery charge lasts around 15 minutes, on and off button is a little annoying because you accidentally hit it while you’re vacuuming, but everything else is beyond amazing so I don’t mind that one little thing at all. This little gem just sucks the long Maine Coon cat hair and cat litter right up. It’s perfect and I’m so glad I found it!

JUST BUY IT!!!!
This is the best effing vacuum I’ve ever had. I’ve had hand held dyson vacuums but nothing compares to this bad boy. It is such a great vacuum for the price. Holds a lot, easy to clean, and the suction is great! Even my fiance is jealous and wants to steal my vacuum for his car! 🙄😂 I honestly love it so much. I was on the fence for a good vacuum but I am so glad I went with the shark! Great for small needs like picking up hair or food crumbs in your car. The battery holds the charge for a long time as well!!

Buy one with better battery life.
This vacuum is a convenient tool for quick, targeted cleanups, especially in a home with pets, but it has some clear limitations. I'm mainly writing this review because I spend a long time reading reviews of things that I want to buy and I honestly should have listened to the folks on here saying that the battery was the biggest issue. Versatility: This is one of its stronger points. I use it in a lot of different areas: corners when sweeping, around my cat’s water fountain, near my air purifiers, on window sills, on my couch, and even in the kitchen (like the island or surfaces my cats climb on before wiping them down). It’s great for spot cleaning and everyday maintenance without needing to pull out a full vacuum. Performance: On surfaces like velvet or microfiber couches, it does pick up dust, crumbs, and pet hair, but it usually takes a few passes. It also snags slightly on softer cushions, so it works better on firmer surfaces. Pet Hair & Litter: It handles pet hair fairly well and is especially useful for picking up litter pellets, which helps cut down on constant sweeping. That said, a wider mouth attachment would make this much more efficient. Maintenance: Long hairs get caught in the brush attachment, but they’re easy to remove. The dust chamber is simple to empty and hasn’t been an issue. I do wish that you could remove the dust chamber entirely instead of it. just opening from one part so that I can get a better "clean" out. Noise & Lighting: Noise level is reasonable and not too loud. The built-in light is weak and doesn’t add much value for darker areas. Battery Life (Biggest Drawback): The battery is the main issue. After fully charging it (about 12 hours initially), I only got around 20 minutes of on-and-off use. I then plugged it back in for about 5, and it only lasted 15 or 20 minutes of consistent use. I kept having to recharge it because I was on a time crunch so I would plug it in for like 5 to 10 minutes at a time and it would only run for like, 5 minutes. For a cordless vacuum, that’s pretty limiting and affects how useful it is overall. Fully defeats the purpose of why I purchased a cordless hand vacuum. Overall: It’s a solid option for quick, versatile cleanups, but the battery life holds it back. I’d consider a different option next time mainly because of that.

The perfect Hand Vacuum for Pet Hair
The CH951 has a more powerful motor, the powered attachment is FANTASTIC! This is the perfect hand vacuum for pet hair. I don't know how, but the rotating brush attachment does not get hair tangled in it. The way the cyclone works basically makes hair easy to clean out of the bin. I've tested it with amounts of pet fur that would absolutely kill other hand vacuums, and it's just fine. Something to be aware of is the internal battery will eventually go bad (hopefully it will take years) and it's not "user" replaceable. That being said, when the time comes, I will be replacing it myself. This is a surprisingly great product, but I wouldn't get the other models in the lineup as they are much weaker.

Not the all in one car vacuum it promises to be
If you’re posting it as an Amazon review, I’d tighten it up a bit while keeping the same criticisms: Certainly not worth the $112 I paid after tax. The Shark PowerBoost is powerful enough to pick up loose dirt and debris from your car’s floor mats, but it struggles with hair and ground-in dirt in the carpet. That kind of defeats the purpose of a dedicated car vacuum if you still need to grab another tool to finish the job. It comes with a couple of useful attachments, but the long crevice tool isn’t actually long or narrow enough to reach the deepest areas between seats, under seats, around seat rails, and in the tight spaces surrounding the center console. Again, if you’re constantly reaching for another tool, it defeats the purpose of an all-in-one solution. Battery life is another major disappointment. It takes a long time to charge and drains surprisingly quickly. If you’re trying to do a thorough cleaning of your vehicle, don’t expect to finish on a single charge. You’ll likely need to recharge at least once, which is frustrating for a product marketed specifically for car cleaning. Suction also drops off noticeably as the filter collects debris, meaning you’ll find yourself frequently emptying the dust cup and cleaning the filter just to maintain performance. That’s especially annoying when the suction isn’t particularly impressive to begin with. If this were a $40-$50 handheld vacuum intended for occasional household spills, I’d say it’s perfectly acceptable. But that’s not how it’s marketed, and it’s certainly not how it’s priced. For over $100, I expected stronger suction, better reach, and enough battery life to clean an entire vehicle in one session. It’s not terrible. It’s just not the powerful, all-in-one car-cleaning tool it’s advertised to be.

Good vacuum
Good vacuum cleans sofa, garden furniture and car, although becomes heavy after a while. Easy to empty

Waste of money
I bought this for small jobs around the house but mostly to collect my dogs hair and all it does it blow the hair around rather than suck it up! it hasn’t worked properly since the day I got it and there is no option for a refund… It doesn’t even pick up sugar or dust!! Terrible hoover and also you need ear plugs when using it!!
