These were ideal for adding a second set of speakers to my tower-less competition ski boat
The images of the boxes didn't do them justice. When I received them, I was surprised about how well made and finished these were. I originally thought I would need to paint them, but the white gelcoat was perfect and matched the fiberglass of my Mastercraft Prostar perfectly. The boat had factory cutouts for just two speakers, and these Audiopipes tucked nicely into the gunnel compartments just ahead of the rear set, where I mounted them--to give me the sound I was looking for.

Audiopipe 6.5" Marine speaker box
These speaker boxes failed on numerous points. The first is that they are able to take a 6.5" speaker. They are not. The hole for the speaker is too large for a 6.5". I took them to a local stereo store who tried several different brands of 6.5 speakers. None of the speakers were able to be mounted as the holes in the boxes were too large to screw the speaker in. The fix was for me to go to a separate stereo store and have them make ABS rings to mount to the speaker boxes just to be able to even screw a speaker into. The additional cost for this was $127.The second issue is the boxes have no hole or base for wiring. You have to get your drill out and drill a hole to pass the wiring through. This could compromise the integrity of a marine box (depending how good you are with a drill and perhaps rubber grommets. The final issue is price. For what you get and what you end up having to do, I feel like a $55 price is insane. Granted they are fiberglass and not pressboard (which would melt in a marine environment) but with all the time and extra money I spent on these, $20 a piece would have made me feel a lot better about this purchase. To conclude, I would not recommend these speaker boxes period. If I hadn't already painted them (bright white didn't work for my application) I would have asked to return them.

Great quality, but slightly big for 6.5” speakers.
So I wanted to leave a review to clear up what others have written. Some say 6.5” speakers won’t work, it’s close but it’s possible. The cut outs are a bit too large. I mounted JL audio marine 6.5” speakers and the holes for mounting are right on the edge of the perimeter. Also the cutouts are slightly too small for the JL 7.7 speakers. That’s the only reason this product doesn’t receive 5 stars for me.BUT all that aside, these boxes are excellent quality, and the finish on them is excellent. You can pay 3x as much for others for a perfect fit for JL speakers of different sizes but this was more than I even wanted to spend to begin with.

Will fit JL 7.7”
These are a very high quality and overbuilt fiberglass product. Based on previous reviews I bought them knowing that I’d have to cut a slightly bigger hole for the JL 7.7”. Basic DIY, took 15 min. The speakers fit perfectly but I wouldn’t go any bigger.

Modifications to Audiopipe Speaker Enclosure
These are really high quality fiberglass speaker enclosures but they do have a big issue if you don’t have a way to fabricate an modify them: I made a 1/8 thick PVC ring and inserted inside the box. See photos. I give Audiopipe a 3 rating since these need modifications to work with most speakers.
