Very Nice Well Made Portable - Does a Real Nice Job Cooling - Highly Recommend
I've been using this unit all summer here in Michigan and we have had some pretty hot/humid weather this year. Not a lot, but enough to give the unit a good test. Only the first floor of my home has central air so I bought this for one of three bedrooms on the 2nd floor. In the past I have used regular window units for the three bedrooms. Anywhere from 5000 to 8000 BTUs and they worked fine. The problem with the window units is when you get a cool night you're stuck not being able to open the window and each room only has the one window. And since I plan to install AC on the second floor next year, I did not want to buy new window units (two of them were ready to be replaced), for just one more year.So I decided to get one of these portable units so I could use it elsewhere after I get the new AC for the second floor. I decided on the two hose model just because it makes more sense to me. A single hose unit basically uses the air in the room to cool the condenser then blows it out the window, so it creates a negative pressure. The two hose model does not do that (although this one can operate as a single hose unit too). It draws in outside air to cool the condenser then blows that air out the window not taking any air from the room itself. Much more efficient. I have some experience with Air Conditioning so I know this to be true.Anyway, I went with the larger 12k BTU unit knowing it might be too big for the small room, But I did not want to go small because I might end up using it to cool my garage which is my home gym, next summer. For that I would need the extra power. Plus I figured I could open the door and cool the hallway and possibly another room. Which is what I did a few times when it got real hot. It was able to cool a lot more than just my small bedroom which is maybe 200 sq ft. I ended up moving into the largest room which has a vaulted ceiling and it cools it nicely. And by that I mean 69 degrees. I like to use a blanket and be cold when I sleep. None of that 75 degree stuff for me. If you want a room cold this unit will do it.Now if the room is too small it can bring the temp down before it pulls the humidity out so it might feel like it's not doing the job. I think this might be the case for some of the negative reviews I read. It actually seems to work better when i leave the door open a bit so it has to work a little harder. Makes sense actually. That said, I did a lot of research before I bought this unit. The reviews are all over the place so it was pretty frustrating trying to decide on a unit to buy. I ended up going with this one since the reviews were pretty good especially when it came to the construction of the hoses. They are very heavy duty hoses to be sure. I was not expecting them to be that high a quality. The window kit is metal and pretty solid. I have double hung windows so it works well, if you have sliders it might not fit as nicely. I ended up using painters tape to seal any gaps so I could take it out easily if the night was going to be cool - which I did a few times. Taking it in and out is not a big deal.As some reviews noted, it can be a bit loud, but not much more than a window AC unit. I normally run the fan on low unless I am cooling more than one room. To me it's like white noise, to someone else it might be annoying. I have never had any issues with water. Another advantage to the two hose system is that is uses the hot air to pick up moisture and blow it out the window. Pretty unique design. I have checked for water a few times by just holding a plastic pan under the drain. I got a little out, but not much. I did that like two or three times all summer. Every now and then I can hear a water gurgle, but it never ran on the floor or anything like that.Cleaning the filter is easy enough and the remote works well and is handy to have on the nightstand. I like to raise the temp to maybe 72 while I am gone for the day at work and it's going to be hot. Having the remote by the door makes it easy. Oh and one review mentioned the lights are pretty bright. Now that is a fact. Noise I can deal with, but the lights on the unit light up the fricking room. I ended up putting some white tape over them. I can still see what's going on, but it does not keep me awake. The unit itself is very solid and well made. There is nothing flimsy about the construction. It's easy to roll around even on low pile carpet. It is heavy to take up a flight of stairs on your own, but once there relocating it to another room is not bad. The window kit comes in a couple of pieces so it can be used in different sized windows. So make sure to keep the pieces if you ever plan to use it in different rooms. You'll see what I mean if you buy one.I think that about covers it. In my opinion this is a well made AC unit. Solid materials used throughout. I was very pleased when I took it out of the box. Oh and dI put it together without ever looking at the directions.

Great in our little apartment - quieter than an AC Window unit!
We have a two story apartment which is built into a hill. The two bedrooms and the restroom are on the bottom floor. Our towels would take days to dry, and some metal and other water-sensitive items were having trouble. I did research on dehumidifiers including performance (and noise level), price vs capacity, and size. This one was definitely on top according to reviews when it came to performance and price for it's capacity level. I also liked the idea of puling 50 pints out in 12 hrs. This unit has far exceeded my expectations. Although this is the first dehumidifier we've owned, I can't imagine looking for another any time soon. The first time we plugged it in and let it go (after letting set upright for two days as a few reviewers/commentators suggested) it pulled out a full 50 pints in UNDER 10hrs. It stops when it's full, so no worry of the reservoir spilling over. We keep it in the hallway between the bedrooms, in front of the restroom. Now, the overall size isn't inconvenient, but I must admit I turn it off, empty it, and stick it in the near-by closet when we have comapny over.We usually run it in the evening/overnight while we're home. So we don't let it run continuously, but it does run while we're home. The sound level is minimal, much quieter than the window AC Units in the house, and no louder than having a small fan on in the bedroom at night. The beep it gives to alert you that it's full is not quiet, and can wake you up if you're a light sleeper, but it's nice that you know when it's full. The vent on the side spits out quite a lot of air, so I would say it's wise (as the instructions advise) to allow a few feet on either side, although we have set it up in our small bathroom to do a super sweep, and it did just fine. It does give off a little heat as well, at least the air it expels when ran for a while. When we first got it we ran it every night, and then the laundry started coming out a little staticy, so now we run it as needed, usually when we notice the towels in the bathroom beginning to retain moisture again. With how well it's worked in our little apartment, I would recommend it for nearly any place in your home, just allow for about 3ft on three of the four sides, and an outlet near by. The casters on the bottom of the unit make it easy to move about as needed (like when I stash it in a closet). I would recommend this unit to anybody!!

Only had these units about 2 weeks, hopefully they continue to operate for a long time.
We bought 2 of these, 1 for our daughters basement apt. The Keystone 50litre dehumidifier works quite well as is relatively quiet. The only thing is, the case on both of them rattles a bit! I folded 2 magazines and put 1 under each front wheel to stop the rattle. Otherwise, they work quite well in removing the humidity on the first floor of our 780 sq ft house.
