L.A. Hold Styling Gel, Strong Hold, Vegan, 6.8 oz (1 Pack)

I was searching for a new product to use for my curls, especially in this heat! My old product, Twist by Ouidad, no longer sells the light hold gel that I loved. This product was affordable AND feels amazing on my curls. I usually put a small drop on my hand and mix with a little water to lighten the amount of hold I want. It smells subtle but nice and clean, I even smelled it the next day after a full night of sleeping with my curls up. I only needed to dampen my curls a bit with some water in my hands to reactivate it, but I also added a tiny bit more for a fresher look and to tame any frizz I had. The hold is wonderful for the humidity, and I like that I can easily use a little more water to lighten the hold. Overall it is easy to use/portion, and performs well. I didn't get a good enough photo because I'm at work right now, but I HAD to review this from how happy I was. It also added some volume to my hair and didn't weigh down any of my curls and no stickiness!!

it's not a sticky mess. not greasy. definitely moisturizing and effectively holds my short hair in place. It's easy to use.

My first year after discovering the Curly Girl Method was a lot of trial and error. I learned pretty quickly that what works for someone else doesn’t automatically work for my baby-fine, weightless wavy hair. I tried quite a few gels before landing on this one. GIOVANNI L.A. gel is the one that finally worked for me. It gives enough hold to keep my waves in place, but it doesn’t feel heavy or sticky. It does create a cast, which I scrunch out once my hair is dry, and then my waves look soft and defined. It’s also affordable, which matters after spending a small fortune “experimenting.”

Holds pretty well and I love it doesn’t leave white residue after drying like some other hair gels. It dries quickly and doesn’t leave an hard texture after drying. It doesn’t have a strong scent or any scent at all that I’ve noticed. Only reason I don’t give it 5 stars is cause hold isn’t too strong, I need help of some hair spray. Regardless I will continue using.

I have been using this gel and the “Direct Leave in Conditioner” for years together and I always come back to these 2 and they will forever be a must have in my bathroom. This gel has strong hold and is a great alternative if you are wanting to stop using Eco Style Gel/Wetline Extreme Gel since those 2 gels have formaldehyde releasing ingredients and “TEA”. Which all are carcinogenic ingredients that can be linked to some cancers or illnesses. Really thick, smells like an aloe vera plant, application is bomb, mixes well with most leave in conditioners, your hair will last for DAYS + it is glycerin free as well as the “Direct Leave in Conditioner”, extreme curl definition, and it is under $10 if you buy them individually. If you are on a budget, need a hard holding gel so your hair will last, and want clean hair products, try this and you won’t be sorry!

Oh my goodness this stuff is the bomb. Strong hold and keeps style all day long.. A little is all you need. Already bought more!!

Curly girl here! I wanted to love this. I make my own flaxseed gel and wanted something that would travel well since flaxseed gel has a short shelf life. I used this gel a few different ways before leaving the review. I have 3b/3c hair (see @1sic4itchic on Instagram). I love to get a good hard cast to scrunch out the crunch and get bouncy definition. Think eco or wetline. It's not as strong as those but does give a good cast that you can work with. Here were my experiences: Mixed with leave-in condish - no good on day 2 curls. My hair was a thick frizzy mess. I did this method with different leave ins. Each time I got the same result. Mixed with oil - again, sticky residue on my curls the next day. Stand alone/just gel and water - sticky residue the next day. Killed the body it had on day one and I got frizz. It's odd. It doesn't look dull but my curls didn't bounce with this gel. It's not sticky like tape. It's the kind of sticky you get from product buildup but you get this on day 1. I sleep in a satin bonnet, on satin sheets, under a satin comforter. I am that committed. Lol!! Jk. It's got great ingredients, smells light and is affordable. Try it. It may work for you.

I've been using this gel for years when I do a wet set with snap rollers. I love it, and the results are great. The curls are beautiful and last for days. My hair is never stiff or crunchy (it's actually pretty soft), and I've never experienced flakiness with this product. Other than making my curls last longer, I can't even tell I'm wearing this gel. I'll definitely continue to purchase this.

My naturally 2B/C wavy hair is a nightmare at the best of times but as the dew point rises the frizz is impossible to tame. My hair is very fine, high porosity and prone to frizz. This is the first product I’ve tried that actually results in defined, shiny curls and waves which withstand the entire day in a heatwave with rising dew point with only minor frizz. At the end of the day I have a few wayward strands, nothing worth worrying about. For my hair it works best if I use it on soaking wet hair and then squeeze the curl clumps with a microfibre towel. In order to lock in the moisture and get some lift I dry with a diffuser. It forms a strong cast that needs scrunching out but the resulting curls and waves are shiny, soft, moisturised and frizz free. If your hair is like mine I would recommend trying it, I will certainly be buying this again.
