PIG Water Absorbing Kit - 10-Gallon Absorbency per kit - Blue - PM50491

Just had flooding in the Northern Illinois area and I prepared myself with these PIG absorbers this time. WOW, they work fantastic!! These will always be on hand as my basement leaks and these soak the water right up and prevent the water from going everywhere. They even dried out quickly on their own which left me amazed on how great they work. Excellent product and less hassle for clean up after a flood.

These are the best spill pickup mats available. I've used them in the lab, but find great use in my house too. When my refrigerator water filter failed and created a minor flood, these mats soaked it all up in a few minutes. Just hand wring them out to reuse. After the calamity was fixed and a new filter installed, I just washed in the clothing washer and air dried. Ready for the next disaster. I keep a few of these under the hinge end of my indoor spa cover so that the drips that occur on opening the spa are instantly caught.

My basement provided water-based heating which is great but the overflow from the system has flooded our basement multiple times as it only has a fake drain that goes down about six inches. The water from the house drains above head level in the basement so there is no easy way to deal with boiler overflow situations. The first solution was to add battery-powered water sensors. This notified us of the next overflow but a bit late to handle the flooding. To add something like a basement pump used in the midwest basements would be expensive and take quite a bit of work and materials. The Pig approach is wonderful as it provides a solution to trap most of the overflow water and we still use the water sensor. In the past, my concern was if the boiler overflow problem happened while we were away for whatever reasons, we would still come home to a flooded basement. The pig solution is consistent with the absorptions numbers reported as I of course had to test the product. The sheets that come with the cylindrical pigs also do the job. I tested a stack six high and all water in my test tub was absorbed even though only the two lower layers were in direct contact with the water level. For me, this is an easy and attractive solution to a problem that has bothered me for years. Thanks for this product innovation.

PIGs Absorbent 10 Gal Kit/ 6 Socks, 15 pads: This kit does what they say it will do ~ Absorbs water like crazy!The only downside is that the Absorbent Socks absorb SO much water! they take quite a while to dry out. Best to dry them out in the Sun ~ Outdoor Clothes Line. The drop Pads dry out much quicker. They say not to put them in your clothes dryer. I let them mostly dry at room temp, until just damp, then put them in the clothes dryer on LOW HEAT!, to finish off the drying. That seemed to work just fine, with no pilling or damage to the Pad. I would not put the Absorbent Socks in the dryer, because they are very different materials. All said and done, these are pretty amazing when it comes to absorbing water/moisture. Very effective! I could see these PIGs would be exceptional for boat owners/enthusiasts!

I tend to have water problems follow me, so I bought this kit "just in case". This summer I had a patio roof installed, where they cut back the gutters and over hang of the roof on the house. Not expecting any rain, the gap was not covered over night. The nexxt morning, when an "unexpected" storm came through, it was like a water fall inside my living room. I quickly grabbed my Pig Spill kit to stop the water from going into the room any further and to soak up the water. Once I had the room dry, I hung the pads and tubes to dry. It takes a long time to dry, but everything has been folded and stored in the original plastic cube for the new water mishap. (I don't think you can reuse in the case of an oil or chemical spill)

This is the second set we ordered. They are amazing! They do not block water. They absorb the water. In our case. The basement floods in heavy rains. With these Pig socks we place them where it leaks, it absorbs and contains the water. The pads are placed in another area where it spreads. No more water spreading all over the basement!WIth the many days in a row of heavy rains, we ordered this set to use while the others hang dry, I cannot recommend them enough.

These absorbable "socks" are simply wonderful! When any water or other fluids are spilled, they are absorbed immediately. Amazing!

The items in this kit.did very little to help with with water from an air conditioner condensate pipe leak. If you stand there and wring out the mats every frw minutes you can v lean up some water but if it is an ongoing oroblem and you need something that will last a day or so til a repairman can come out hou nred sometjing else. This company makes sucj products as I have found out. These are not a help for sn ongoing issue. Wish they would state that it is mainly for clean up not an ongoing situation. Their waterless sandbags hold much more water snd a frw of them sllowed me to sleep without fear of belongings being ruined. The items in tbis listing only help with cleanup.
