So far, so good!
Extremely new to gardening, here! After just a week, exactly, these tiny little guys seemed to have sprouted overnight! I soaked some of them in water for 24 hours first, then wrapped them with a filter-like sleeve(that were bundled with another purchased item), slid them into a ziploc bag and put them in the freezer for another 24. Then resoaked them in warm water for ANOTHER 24 hours! Haha. Then, I think I wet the soil first beforeโquite tediously and messilyโfighting with scraping the teeny tiny wet seeds into it. That took nearly 7 minutes!๐คฃ As a test, I sprinkled more seeds in straight from the pouch without soaking or freezing first, and spread all the seeds gently half an inch beneath the soil with light taking drags of my fingers. Possibly because I used a paper bowl, the soil literally stayed moist the entire week, so far, and still is a little. I also placed them a short distance from a window, so they have been receiving indirect light. The only downside for this โexperimentโ is those seeds were such a hassle and a half for me to get off my fingers and into the dirt, that they are completely scatteredโso Iโve no idea which ones were stratified vs which ones werenโt!๐คฃ But hey! Theyโre growing, at least!!๐ช๐ช๐ธ๐ธ Iโll update as they grow! UPDATE!: They weโre progressing slowly indoors, so I made the mistake of placing them outside in better sunlight to thrive. BAD IDEA!!!๐ญ They all died, and I donโt know why. No wild critter ate them; there wasnโt any fungus or anything strange on them. They had great sunlight and were watered when the dirt were dry, just like what I did indoors. Whatโs even stranger was I placed another pot outside, with seeds right out the bag in themโno soaking or stratification beforehandโand they sprouted in about less than a week, this time. They were doing lovely outside for an additional two or three weeks. Then, they started to wilt like the ones that had once been doing fine indoors did. Not a clue as to what went wrong! Welp, while it were a thrill watching these seedlings grow from a teeny tiny seed, Iโd rather actually have some catnip, so Iโll likely lean more towards the starter plant route if I want to keep trying to grow some stronger ones!๐คฃ Tho, with all these leftover seeds, I may as well do something with em!

Easy care
Theyโre good, it takes them a little to sprout but is great for a small pot. I have them in a horizontal pot and they receive sun just in the morning, I saw some sprouts just yesterday! Iโm so happy, I put them for my apartment cat so he has something to look and play when he goes to the balcony.

No germination zero growth
Planted in its own tray next to 3 trays of cat grass. After almost 2 weeks, the cat grass has done incredible, but not a single germination of the cat nip seeds. Nothing. Very disappointed. Followed directions. Refrigerated for 12 hours before planting. Not too much water. Did not plant deep in fact most were at the very top the I brushed my hand over the dirt a little the spritzed with water and they get the first 10hours of sun in the morning plus I have grow lights for cloudy days. Everything else I have planted have come up no problem. In pic you can see 3 growing cat grass then 1 with nothing. All planted at the same time.

Such a great product
So easy to grow! I literally thee them in a pot with some dirt and left them in the sun. My sons cat is SO picky. We got her bags of catnip and she likes the first little pinch, then it's like โoh that old stuff no thanks!โ so we figured she would love fresh leaves each time and we were right. She doesn't bother the plant though.

Tiny seeds and I'd say somewhat hard to germinate
I put my seed packet in the freezer for 24 hours to stratify them. I don't know that it's necessary for these but recommended a lot of places and I can verify with some seed types it is a critical step. It's the time frame in this case that makes me skeptical. It's usually a way to simulate winter for seeds that require it and is done for months as a result. It doesn't hurt your chances in this case so why not right? Soaked them after freezing for 24 hours. No fancy procedure. I used a shallow glass container with a couple tsp. of water. Just enough to cover the seed. In 24 more hours the water had been soaked up or evaporates to where it was simply wet seed. They'll stick to everything when wet. I fished a few out on my finger and placed them on top of a Dixie cup with potting soil that had holes drilled in the bottom for drainage. On my usual heat mat and under a grow light in the cold frame and in a few days several had sprouted. Not a great germination rate but the seeds are so tiny. Guessing maybe 1/4 to 1/3 of the ones planted sprouted. Should be plenty. I only attempted starting a small portion of the seeds in the packet for now and will attempt more later if it comes to that. Once the seedlings get planted should be a cake walk to get more.

Grows well
I ordered a packet awhile ago and finally grew them. My cats loved this brand so much I ordered a 5 pack. I planted like Clover.

Have not fully grown the Cat Cocaine.
I have yet to endorse or denounce this product just yet. I will offer my experience, then come back to give an update on my experience. It is hot as heck in California. I was hoping to provide my indoor and outdoor cats something to get their mind off the heat. The Separate, individual packets contain amazingly SMALL seeds. They match similar to Poppy Seeds. They recommend you FREEZE then Soak the seeds over night. Contrary, some reviewers do not do this. A visit to their site seemed to advise outdoor growing do the Freezing, Soaking. That is what I have done. Into a Freezer Seal Bag they went. Not as easy as thought. The TINY seeds have no weight and stick to clean back. Static would be a nightmare. On a wide cloth napkin, I poured them onto a COFFEE FILTER. Soaking and collecting them was FAR from easy if you have no plan. I dumped them into water. I dumped them into a Stain-Steel kitchen container. Some 24-hrs later, they were floating in water - and Chaos. I did NOT have a coffee filter size strainer to hold the filter. I laid the filter in a smaller filter-size Stainless steel container. Fingers pulled up all sided -- evenly. Water drained. Next, the filter was drained in a pouch. Next, I let it dry for a day. The seeds flaked off easily. A mixture of mostly yard soil with steer manure was prepared in a big tub. (another was done in a wide mouth pot with a.. five-inch dept. Hole for drainage. My understanding by trail-and-error, the seeds love water. Some two weeks, and very little action on the first one. My conclusion came after using a Colander to simulate rain. I added more water really soaking the soil over a quarter-inch. The 'moist' soil seen little action, but action none-the-less. The soaking seem to spark serious growth. The container is out in some direct Sun for the morning. It never changed when I soaked the soil. I have to point out that I used two packets. The colander drenching provided me TWO PACKETS of quarter to half (and more) inch of growth. I read how SOME but not all. I mean, every seed seems to growing despite reviews saying some grow, some do not. This is where I am some two weeks behind. TO THE SELLER: explain to the potential customers that you have some customers in frosty cold. Some are not. Those in frosty weather do NOT need to freeze the seeds and soak them. I am not in frosty weather, so I MIMIC frost and the melted water saturating the Spring seeds in the FREEZER and Stainless Steel pan and Coffee Filter. You make no sense why we must do it. Cursive internet research, some do and don't, but do not say why. So, educate us in the simulation seeds in Winter soil get watered by Spring melting. It makes a nice story and good reason to follow your directives. As of now, the give or take 16-inch tub is doing great in the growth, in partial shaded to early morning and mid day Sun-fest - temps (70's to 89-90-degrees) The Pottery is showing a baby plant after about two-weeks. I will update you on a very promising adventure -- we have homeless kittens and mother (with surrogate) with indoor-outdoor cats who could use something to take their mind off the heat and water issues. (BTW: I read catnip helps with fleas)
