Q: Could an animal easily chew a hole in this? Need it under an outdoor park trailer?

Chew or rip with claws….. it would tear easily.

If you are speaking of a home vacuum cleaner, no it will be far too wide. I used this to mend AC duct work in a crawl space . It is not 12” long but 12” wide
