Nice filter, but takes expansion time to use
Highly compressed and took almost 2 weeks to return to stated dimension. Looks like it will work great as a replacement filter for a pump that I can no longer find replacement for.

Perfect for my fountain
It arrived flat, in a vacuum-locked package, very surprising! It expanded perfectly in a couple of days just by sitting on my counter. I'm using it around the pump in my outdoor water fountain, to keep the bigger leaves and such away from the pump. I bought the 7.5" x 4.7" x 2.75" and that is exactly what I received. I cut it to fit my pump with an x-acto knife and was easy enough to cut through the thickness. I will be ordering another one as I cut this one incorrectly (I should've measured twice and cut once), but it is exactly what I needed. I installed a simple $10 float and water supply hose to the fountain, so that I don't have to keep refilling it. I put the extra piece around the float to help keep debris away from it.

Great bio sponge
It's a sponge, it dose what bio sponge does best Great for letting water flow through and to filter out at the same time. I would say that this sponge is the spongeiest sponges that I have ever used. It can sponge flat or sponge standing up even sponge sideways. You can really show this sponge off in any direction. Sometimes I like to just throw my sponge in the middle of my sump just to collect all the good bio from the water. I wouldn't know what I'll do without my big sponge

Improves filtration, easy to install
This filter foam sponge is a great addition to any fish tank. It does an excellent job of trapping debris and maintaining water clarity. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that it can be a bit difficult to clean. The foam is quite delicate, and I found that I had to be careful not to damage it when rinsing it out. But overall, it's a great product that I would recommend to any fish tank owner looking to improve their filtration system.

Works great to set under noisy aquarium pumps
I love these. I bought them to set my aquarium air pumps on to quiet the vibration. Worked great

Extra sponge is always better
I got this as additional sponge material for my filters and have since cut to fit them to replace other friend's filter media/add to their media. I have modified four nano tanks thus far and still have an entire extra pad left. The pores are kind of course and I use it as a snail blocker for the intake but the baby shrimp might slip through it. It does make for excellent bio media in a pinch (lots of surface area with easy water flow through it). As well it is stiff enough to wedge in places and so I use it for flow dispersion for the filter out-put for my betta tanks.

Worth the money
Nice value and more than enough for my needs. Can cut to size needed and filters the water great. Should last a long time. I had more than enough for extra filtration. Water is so clear that I haven't even used the charcoal filter the my pump came with. All plants and fish are doing well and rarely change water

Good sponge
Work as needed. Easy to cut/trim. My return was not properly counted and I was charged for one that I sent back.

Silent Sentinels Of Your Aquarium
The Hipanda Filter Foam Sponges are a true game-changer for the discerning aquarist. This Bio Sponge Filter Media Pad is not merely a product; it's a guardian of aquatic equilibrium. Crafted from robust, high-quality foam, these sponges stand as vigilant protectors in the face of the relentless debris of the underwater world. They are durable, holding their form and function with the tenacity of a steadfast coral reef. Their filtration prowess is nothing short of miraculous, capturing impurities with the finesse of a sea anemone ensnaring its prey, leaving nothing but crystal-clear water in its wake, a testament to their unyielding dedication to tank clarity. Upon introducing the Hipanda sponges into my aquarium's ecosystem, the transformation was profound. The water, once clouded with the detritus of aquatic life, became a pane of sheer glass, revealing the vibrant vivacity of my underwater utopia. So effective and enduring are these sponges that a single pack promises a biennial odyssey of filtration excellence. The sheer volume and the customizable nature of these foam sponges mean that one purchase equates to two years of serene, unclouded waters. These are not just sponges; they are the silent sentinels of your aquarium, the unsung heroes of your aquatic story.

They'rrrrrrrre Great!
To start off, I got these to make into microphone pop filters, so I can't speak to their effectiveness as an aquarium filter. That said, these things work great for my intended use. They come flat-packed, so once you get them out of the packaging just run them under warm water while wringing them around. In about 15-20 seconds they just inflate to full size. They're soaked now, of course, so let them dry thoroughly if you don't want tap water in them. For a microphone pop filter, they're very easy to shape using a sharp razor knife, and are extremely effective at reducing plosives. For my use case I do recommend.

Perfect but not used as a filter
This is open cell filter foam and is intended to catch and trap larger particles. That’s not what I used it for. This particular foam doesn’t actually trap and hold water like a sponge. Water more or less goes right through it. So it was a perfect replacement for some foam standoffs on a North Face expedition tent I have that used exactly the same foam between the inner and outer tents.

Takes forever
It comes about 1/4" thick. Instructions say it takes 24hrs to expand. 72hrs later and still 1/2 as thick as ad says it is. Finally got it wet and stuck it in the microwave and presto, proper size. I get shipping is cheaper squished but if you're in a hurry, this isn't for you.
