It Works - Excellent product
I bought this in conjunction with a set of silicone poachers. It makes handling the poacher cups a lot easier, especially when the time comes to remove them from boiling water. This gadget keeps your fingers well away from the hot water. I tend not to have the cups float freely as they may topple over if the boiling water bubbles too much. I found my own technique to fill my pan up to a certain level which keeps the cups just about touching the surface of the pan. This makes it a little hard to slide the fork of the lifter under the cup. I cut almost an inch of the fork ends. This makes this task a finger snap. Well, that's me. It works for me. I am certain that will develop your own personal method to deal with these issues. Some patience and practice will make you a master. The product is well made and does the job. It is a must have if you use silicone poaching cups.

really helpful with stainless poachpod
I originally had the silicone poachpod which I found easy to remove from the water just by holding the rim of the pod. But for the stainless model, this little tool is really helpful. Besides making removal of the pod from the pot super easy, it is indispensable for scooping the egg out with the spoon-shaped handle. Because it's not metal, it won't ruin the nonstick coating. To me, these two items belong together. I'd pass on it if you're using the silicone pods. By the way, although the silicone pods worked superbly, they retained a weird perfume smell and taste. It ruined the whole experience. Hence, the stainless model.

it works fine but you don't really need it
I was sure I was going to need this to get those poachers out of boiling water but it turns out they are easy to remove and I would have been better off to spend my money on more poach cups. I love the cups. I rub a little butter on them then crack an egg in, then set them in the very hot water, cover and cook 4-6 minutes depending on how hard you like your eggs. I was never a fan of poached eggs because they were too watery but with this method they aren't WET at all and very pretty on a muffin. I haven't tried making little custards in them but it mentioned that on the literature. I might give that a try next. It would be very easy to do and perfect for a small dessert. I see I got distracted. I recommend the poachers for sure and the lifter only if you are afraid you won't be able to lift the poachers out by the edges. It works great though.

Don't hesitate to buy.
When I first purchased the silicone egg poachers, I thought I didn't need this gadget. After a few times with the cups I figured this utensil would make every thing easier. It does! Given it's modest price, you can't go wrong. Not only does it make removing the cups from the boiling water a snap, but as per instructions, using the end of the handle to remove the eggs is inspired. Glad I finally came to my senses and bought it.

Saves the Fingers
I ordered the lifter a few weeks after getting the poachpods and burning my fingers trying to get them out of the water. Unfortunately, I have found the lifter not as easy to use as I thought it would be. When I lift the pods up I still have to grab the edge to prevent them from turning to one side and the egg slipping out. It is still a lot better on my fingers though.

This is a waste of money
The egg pods (or cups), that this is advertised to be used with, slip through this. The egg pods are wet and heavy, and they fold and slip, and dump your egg into the boiling water. This is a waste of money. I just use a large slotted spoon to remove the egg pods from the water.

I'm very happy with my purchase
This item may seem silly but it does the one job that it was made for perfectly. I would definitely buy it if you have the silicone egg poachers, because I can't imagine how else you would lift those silicone bowls out of boiling water. I don't really have to wash it since it only touches boiling water, but I throw it in the dishwasher anyway. It seems to do well in the dishwasher. I'm very happy with my purchase.

Well Made and Easy to Use
I bought this item along with the silicone egg poacher and it works very well. It makes it very safe and easy to put these egg pods in hot water and then take them out of the hot water. I haven't tried it yet but I'm sure it would be great for many things that have to be lifted out of or put into hot water or oil. It is a very sturdy and well made item.
