Meat is a great source of protein, which is an important part of a healthy, balanced diet. If you're not too squeamish then you may want to consider feeding your hamster dried or live crickets and mealworms. These can be particularly popular with dwarf and Syrian hamsters. The most common sickness is wet tail basically diarrhea and flu like symptoms. You can bring them back from this if you catch it early. Pedialyte and rest in a warm and quiet area of the home can help too. Your hamster needs a suitable sized cage to be able to have normal behaviours. Hamster feed is great, seeds and grains. If you want to treat it well, similar to giving it a cake (don‘t give hamsters cake), you can give him a bit of muesli, just a teaspoon. Fresh vegetables, like sallad, paprika, slice of apple. But never feed your hamster more than just 2or3 teaspoons. The hamster is, well for lack of better words, a hamster, a hoarder. He will take all the food and hide it in his cage. You can’t train him to do otherwise, it is in his nature to do so. There he will piss on the food to mark it, and the food will spoil and at least will start to smell badly, and you might need to clean the cage more than once a week or two. Don’t make the cage smell bad, your house will smell bad and your hamster will suffer, you will stop liking that little critter and things go downhill quickly.

Don’t buy it your hamster will CHEW AT IT
First off this cage COULD be PERFECT if it wasn’t made out of wood. My hamster has PLENTY of chew toys but is still starting to chew in the corners. I’m monitoring it but I’m going to have to make her an enclosure from a fish tank even though this cage is more pleasing and has platforms for her to climb up and sit. It’s disappointing. I was dumb to purchase this KNOWING it was made from wood. Who would make a hamster cage from wood? I don’t know.

not big enough for hamster
this enclosure has around 330 square inches of floor space. the ABSOLUTE MINIMUM a hamster should have is 450 square inches.
