I bought these for my son's birthday party but we ran out of time to paint these during that time. I put it away to save for another day, and we finally got around to it last week while he was home for a snow day. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of wood, the base of the trains (wheels, magnets, etc.), and paint/brushes that came with it! My son (2) and I had a great time painting them and adding them to his train table collection. They fit perfectly on his standard size wooden train tracks and he is very proud whenever he used his Thomas the Tank Engine train to pull around his "cake train" lol

These are great. Comes with plenty of paint and 2 brushes. Trains are magnetic and fit on regular tracks well. My 3 year old loved them.

Great activity that can be stretched over multiple sessions of painting and then into many hours of play afterwards, Montessori aligned and, to quote my husband, "you never see kids toys of this quality for this price, nice to see people making decent toys for kids who couldn't usually afford them". We received a compatible set of tracks for Christmas this year and my child has yet to get bored of them (or break any!) 9 months later.

I have ordered this item twice now for my son. It has been such a wonderful activity painting them together. The first set he asked his dad and I to help him paint like a real Union Pacific train, which turned out great. This time he painted it himself to look like, as he says, an old rusty abandoned train. He did such a good job! He says it is what his UP train would look when it gets old. We play with both often and they provide hours of entertainment for my train fanatic child. I would highly recommend this as an activity and fun toy for anyone that has a child who loves trains.

I purchased this for my 8 year old son. He absolutely loves it! He highly enjoyed painting the train himself and designing it just the way he wanted. He has had this for months now and the paint has held up well even through trips to the beach and park. Would definitely purchase again!

This is awesome idea the train cars were pretty well-built I have no complaints about the construction of the trains themselves. However, some of the paints we're pretty transparent so it was hard to get any real color pigmentation, while the others were not so difficult to work with. overall if you can get this for $10 or less I think it's a good deal, it's a toy and an art project in one so that means double the entertainment lol

Well made, fun to paint, work with the Thomas trains. I bought these for the kids to decorate at a train birthday party and they were a big success. Some of them have loads that Harold the helicopter can pick up and our trees fit nicely in the back of one of the cars. I'm actually thinking of purchasing another set to decorate for the holidays.
