BulkSupplements.com Bovine Collagen Powder - 1KG (Pack of 1)

This BulkSupplements collagen powder is exactly what it claims to be - regular bovine collagen that works and tastes as you’d expect from this type of product. If you’re someone who uses collagen supplements regularly and you’re tired of paying premium prices for fancy packaging and marketing, this is your go-to option. The quality is solid - it’s hydrolyzed and gluten-free, dissolves quickly in both hot drinks like coffee and tea, and mixes well even in cold beverages. I’ve noticed the positive effects on my skin and joints that I expect from a good collagen supplement. The 1kg size gives you excellent value, especially compared to the expensive name brands that offer much smaller quantities for similar prices. Let’s be honest about the taste and smell situation - this is bovine collagen, so it has that mild “meaty” taste and odor that comes with the territory. Some people find this off-putting, but if you’re a regular collagen user, you know this is just how the product is. It’s not pleasant, but it’s not worse than other similar products, and it’s certainly manageable when mixed into drinks. The real appeal here is the straightforward approach. There are no fancy flavors, no elaborate marketing claims, no expensive packaging - just the product you need at a price that makes sense. With 30g servings and a 2.2 lb container, you’re getting substantial value for regular users. This is specifically for people who know they want powdered collagen and don’t want to pay extra for bells and whistles. If you’re new to collagen or sensitive to taste and smell, you might want to start with a flavored version. But if you’re a regular user looking for quality and value without the frills, this is exactly what you need.

Taste isn’t the selling point here, but that’s fine — I mix mine with cacao, banana, creatine, and a heaping spoon of stevia, and it totally covers the cow (not beef!) flavor. The price per serving is unbeatable, and you’ll feel it working through your skin, hair, and muscles. Sure, they could fancy up the taste, but that’d hike the price — so I’ll happily chew my cud and call it a win.

Great product works great in morning coffee no noticeable flavor seems to help with staying more flexible with less pain in joints.

There is no one-size-fits-all supplement protocol. Hydrolyzed Collagen benefits for skin, hair, joints, bone teeth etc. I've been following developments in the area for decades, and can say with confidence that you'll have to try different things to see what works and what does not work. For example, people with inflammation get far less efficacy from tryptophan. And from 5-hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP). This is because the human body is engineered to burn up tryptophan during an infection (it is one of four bacterial growth-limiting nutrients in the human blood stream), and the body cannot discriminate between infection-mediated inflammation and allergy-related inflammation. Any kind of inflammation induces indoleamine dioxygenase (IDO), an enzyme that catabolizes tryptophan and other indoleamines. So if this enzyme is active, any tryptophan you take will become substrate for IDO, and less will get across the blood-brain barrier to be converted into serotonin, for sleep enhancement. Furthermore, some of the catabolites of tryptophan are neurotoxic and excitotoxic. And I (we?) do not know what the catabolites of 5-HTP are. There is a trick to getting past IDO. Hydrolyzed Collagen for sleep, body benefits etc., for its glycine content, but there's other amino-acid feature for collagen protein that is of relevance to sleep: low amounts of large neutral amino acids. This can be exploited by adding tryptophan to predigested collagen protein, which contains peptides that solublize tryptophan. So you get (1) pre-dissolved tryptophan, for fast absorption into the blood stream, and (2) decreased competition for tryptophan transport through the blood-brain barrier by other large neutral amino acids. It takes up to 30 minutes for tryptophan to dissolve in a solution of predigested (hydrolyzed) collagen, but once dissolved, the tryptophan absorbs exceedingly quickly when consumed on an empty stomach. This gives IDO less time to catabolize the supplemented tryptophan. This protocol will work for most conditions, inflammation is the start of every condition and disease, if it seems like medications don't work on you or your resistance levels are obscene. Depth of the issue is going to be a battle. Doctors will dismiss you to the next and the never-ending nightmare will begin. Some people have circadian rhythm disturbances that interfere with aspects of sleep. Night owls, for example, have a phase delay in their circadian rhythms. So they are more likely to be metabolically acidic-aerobic-catabolic when going to sleep and make the transition to alkaline-anaerobic-anabolic metabolism during sleep. As a result, they are more likely to notice a sleep benefit from an alkalinizing (carb-rich, vegetable-rich) dinner. Morning larks are usually already alkaline-anaerobic-anabolic before they go to sleep. So sleep hygiene re-acid and alkalinizing can be quite divergent. Calcium sedates some people and alerts others, and magnesium tends to have opposite effects. This is a sleep variable that is often ignored. People with chronic hypothyroidism/hypometabolism are likely to have adrenal compensation. If they stay up past their first episode of sleepiness in the evening, they can become so adrenally activated that they can have a hard time getting to sleep. Red light glasses can help ameliorate this aspect of sleep hygiene. These observations suggest that there is benefit to be had, but it may require lots of trial and error to learn those practices that work for you. A good place to begin resolving any imbalance is with Lifestyle Compensations. Fix the foundations first; otherwise you are applying patches to a crumbling foundation. Your Body Runs On Electrons NOT Bananas!!! Electrons supplied to the body via microcurrents act like very high powered anti-oxidants in that they supply electrons to fortify the cell walls, reduce inflammation and obviate the need for infection. Anti-oxidants, like Vitamin C, are electron donors – but so is electricity, both of which are helpful in an inflammatory process. Healthcare Device L440-R117-or Revalation1:17, Luke 4:40 produces high concentrations of biological negative electrons by biological negative electron generator, then through biological negative electron introducer supplies biological negative electrons for weak vegetative nerve and pineal gland tissue cells to repair the cell membrane potential, activate cells and regenerate cells. At the same time, it promotes the blood circulation, improves metabolism and cell nutrition via inexpensive small portable at home device. I imagine like many others I bought this to try and see if I could have some money savings versus buying my normal brand Anthony's. While performance wise it seems to work the same I must say this powder is much more yellow looking and it smells strongly. I mean you expect collagen to have some smell to it but this product has a very overwhelming smell that isn't pleasant reminiscent of gelatin but really overpowering. That smell also translates into a horrid taste that is very hard to mask or cover up where as my usual brand we just dissolve in some water, add to juice you you cannot taste it. Not so for this one, it doesn't even fully dissolve sometimes and that is with using hot water. Tried coffee, tea, orange juice, fruit juice, etc. none of them work to cover up that taste. Only when I started adding a small spoon full of ceylon cinnamon is it enough to mask the taste. The savings on this product and the fact it seems to work the same are nice but if you are like me you have to weigh that against whether you can choke it down everyday. Note that I do see in some other reviews people having similar issues but some people saying they've gotten good bags in the past so your experience may be different as perhaps there is a lot of variation with this product. Just an update and going up to 4 stars due to the product working as well as my former brand I've bought more bags and while it usually has the strong taste/smell still I've now gotten used to it and the savings are worth it at this point.

I have not written an Amazon review in several years but I felt obligated to warn anyone considering this product to stay far, far away. Despite other reviewers noting the unpleasant taste, I bought it because I tend to be immune to bad tasting anything. I am a utilitarian eater. I eat to maximize nutrition, not taste. I eat raw garlic by the clove, fish out of the can, and, on occasion, waaaay past expiration food just so as not to waste it. In other words, I have no trouble with holding my nose and just powering through. All that changed with this absolutely putrid and Godawful collagen peptide powder. Now, just like other reviewers, I tried to tell myself, “it’s just meaty or earthy or beefy” but no, none of that is even close to the truth. The truth is that this powder tastes like dried uri*** smells. I am sorry to be gross but there is no getting around the truth. And not like office bathroom smell. I am talking dark urban alley where everyone seems to “use the facilities” despite no actual facilities to be had. I tried for about 2 weeks to “just get it down”. Tried mixing it. Tried chugging it. Tried reducing the serving size. Then, today, after chugging down another batch, I full-on gagged, caught myself, grabbed the counter, gagged, tried to catch myself again, and then literally resigned myself to the fact that I was just gonna hurl in my kitchen sink. Thankfully, I didn’t, but I decided I was done, end of the experiment. I hate to throw it out with so much left but there is only so much gross I can handle. Yes, it is cheap. Yes, most Bulk Supp products are great. But, no, do not, I repeat, DO NOT buy this.

I just got my collagen today and made my first tea bomb—it’s absolutely delicious! I’ll keep you posted on how the collagen is working. This price was great, especially considering how many servings it provides. I’m a big fan of bulk supplements on Amazon. It’s my fourth one I’ve tried, and I’m really hoping it’s as good as the others. While making the tea bomb, I didn’t have any trouble mixing it; there was no clumping. I used half a cup of warm water to make sure it blended well. I’m hoping it will help me sleep better and keep my skin looking fantastic.

This is my overall favorite collagen peptide supplement. I've been using collagen peptides for 10 years now and the most important qualities are, in order: price, no flavor, dissolves in hot coffee, packaging. I used to order the ones in the huge plastic tubs, they'd be 1/2 full (I get it, powder settles, but the amount of empty container was ridiculous) and I'd also have to come up with a use for the huge plastic jug after. I used Bulk supplements for a few other things and noticed they had this collagen - I love their packaging, somehow the powder settles less in the bag, and it's easy to decant a more manageable amount into a nicer glass jar for my counter. It also works out to be less $$ per oz than any of the others I tried. As for the rest: there is no flavor, it's always the same consistency between batches (previous collagen would sometimes be yellow with a strong scent, this is never like that), it dissolves in hot coffee, and it never balls up in sticky gluey floating balls. This has been my go-to for a year now.

This Collagen is easy to take topped on cereal or in smoothies and is also a good source of Protein.

Been taking it for a month or so and it seems to be working...skin looks tighter. BUT the taste for me was a little off putting....better with some chicken broth than coffee
