Whats with the Open Box Amazon?
Let me start off by saying that i wasnt expecting much from a $130 Mini PC. The 3 star rating is due to the fact that it came in an opened box. The tape that says "Check contents if seal is broken" was sliced open and the top of the box had been retaped. The contents all look fine but if Amazon is selling this as new, then it shouldnt come in an opened box. I know of one other guy from the Kodi forums that this happened to as well.It connected to my TV fine via the HDMI connection. I streamed a 1080P video from my NAS over my wireless N network and it handled it well. Watched a complete 1080P movie last night with it and twice during the movie it paused briefly while buffering but ill attribute that to the wireless N speeds. Its a little sluggish opening menus and programs but thats to be expected from a machine like this. Boot time to login window is about 20 seconds but with a few different things starting and some of the Acer bloatware, it takes another 20 seconds to the desktop and another 30-45 seconds for the thing to settle down. Not an issue for me as im leaving it on and letting it go to sleep when not in use. Wakes up quick and is ready to go with a tap on the keyboard. The memory is easily replaced and i may just do that sometime soon. From some of the youtube videos i checked, it appeared that the orange top came off and there was a sata cable inside to attach an SSD or 2.5" HD to. Well this one doesnt have the little slide latch shown in the videos i looked at and im hesitant on opening it up until i have used it a while, as doing so will probably void the warranty. It works well for Kodi and Netflix but dont think about using it for Gaming or anything else to resource intensive.Ill be keeping it if it continues to work OK and will most likely upgrade the memory.Edit 12/4/15: Started having lockup issues resuming from Sleep and also not going to sleep. I ordered 4GB of memory but not going to bother putting it in, that coupled with someones recent comment about no Sata support after breaking off the orange top, its all going back. Jumped on another deal for an Intel NUC NUC5PPYH with 4GB of memory for $155. Grabbed one of the Samsung 850 EVO SSD on sale for $72 and will have to put my own OS on, but ill end up with a much better system than this. Total cost without OS is $227.00.

Everything inside was very clean and in good shape, but why was the seal broken
Mine was "Open box" too! What's up with that? Everything inside was very clean and in good shape, but why was the seal broken? Very odd.I bought this for a home theater PC, and I think I am going to love it. It is very quiet. Wireless connected right up to my network. Plays all the music and movie files I have backed up to my server without a single problem. Shows look and sound great. I tried it for a couple hours and then shopped right away for an 8GB RAM chip to max out the memory, which I recommend. I am hoping there will be a way to upgrade the on-board storage drive as well, because with Windows 10 all hooked up, a 4 gig swap file, and a few utilities installed, I am down to 7GB of free space already.I am using HDMI connected to my receiver for audio, then on to the television from there for the video output. 1900 X 1080 seems to be no problem. I noticed a 'touch of jaggi-ness watching NHL hockey streaming live the other night, some of which may have been the wireless, but I am hoping the memory upgrade fixes that.I think it is going to work great as a living room HTPC everyone in the family can live with.Four stars because the storae and RAM need upgrading, but the price...wow!I use this with this keyboard remote. -->Β Logitech Wireless Touch Keyboard K400 with Built-In Multi-Touch Touchpad, Black EDITED REVIEWSo it has been a couple months. The internal storage on this device cannot be upgraded, we are stuck with the 32 gigs of on-board storage. If you have USB storage that can be left permanently attached, that can help. But you can't boot from USB.I had to remove all my software and also remove a large amount of crap from the system (Like themes and wallpapers FOR OTHER MANUFACTURERS like eMachines , Gateway etc. !?!?) in order to free enough space to run the first "windows update" for Win10, 3 Gig download, yeesh! Baffling why Acer left this crap on the Windows image they loaded on such a small system drive.Haven't figured out how to boot from USB yet, not sure it is possible. Anyone?Between the storage limit, and the USB Boot problems, I am a little disappointed. Removing a star. Still like the price. Hope my early enthusiasm didn't mislead anyone.Have not seen any of the associated modular accessories, external storage, graphics upgrade, that the marketing crowed about.
