Provides easy access to under-table router. To change a bit, open the router top, much like opening a blanket chest. You then release the router motor from its base, sit the motor on a nearby table, change bits, re-insert the motor into its base. At that point, you are viewing the router bit at eye level because the table top is open at a 45 degree angle. That makes it simple to measure the bit height with your right hand on top of the table and to adjust the height with your left hand beneath the table. When the height is adjusted, just close the top flat and proceed to operate the router. You never find yourself loosening or tightening the chuck while the router motor is locked in its base because it is so easy to remove the router from its base and make the bit switch with the router motor sitting on a workbench top.

This thing is awesome, especially considering what one would pay for a “lift” system. Easy to install and solid as a rock.

I recently purchased a router lift by Dowelmax and am more than pleased with it. All adjustments on the router are easily within reach while I am in a standing position. You never have to bend down to lift the table or adjust the router. After studying all the various kinds of Router Lifts available, I opted to purchase the Dowelmax Router Table Lift for several reasons. First the design is simplicity itself, except for the pistons, no moving parts to break or get jammed. No more bending over either. Just lift and the router is available for adjustment not bending over under the table or pulling up thru the insert. Everything stays in place and you can see plus feel the slightest adjustment of the router bit. Installation was a piece of cake...very clear and understandable. I even built my own table from the free plans on the Dowelmax web site. The Dowelmax Router Table Lift is about half the cost of any of the other type lifts too. So I saved around $150.00 as well. It is well engineered and all parts are nicely designed. Similar to the engineering that went into the Dowelmax itself. So simple, yet so precise. Both are a real pleasure to use.
