Using this has a learning curve.
Does it work? Yes. Does it work well? It depends on the user's skill set. If you're a beginner, youtube is your friend. Seriously. It's a simple concept: The solder you want to remove is absorbed by the braid when heat is applied on the braid (capillary action?) Easier said than done. Some factors to contend with is how old is the solder, is it lead or lead free? Again, youtube how this works beofre commiting.

Found out what I was doing wrong
(Revised Post)Found out what I was doing wrong (see below); I had a crappy $8 soldering iron. Once I purchased a legitimate soldering station (which wasn't that expensive after all), I had no trouble picking up excess solder with this wick. While it doesn't remove *all* of the old solder, it removes enough for you to remove components cleanly, and/or create a new solder joint.Kudos to those who got this product to do anything useful. This was my first experience using solder wick; I tried everything I could think of (altering the tip size of the soldering iron, increasing / decreasing the temp, flux / no flux), but I couldn't get this product to wick. About the only thing I could manage to do was to solder it to the board I was trying to wick solder away from. Is this stuff not intended for working with a soldering iron?

This product makes desoldering everything whole lot easier.
If youโve never used desoldering braid, youโve got to give it a try. It is so much easier than trying to use the suction bulb or the trigger action solder sucker. What is your soldering iron is hot all you have to do is place the braid over the solder you want to remove, then press the hot tip of the soldering iron on top of that it , and in just a few seconds the solder is drawn into the braid. If thereโs a wire solder that you have to remove you might need to pick up and move the braid a couple times to get it all.

Amazing product!
Here not a many words I want need to say. Excellent product! Work flawless for me. But for all of you who interested, just look at pic. Product Made in Japan. Of course, you all know what mean Japan quality in world of electronic industry... It really surprised me.. Was expected some cheap China trash.. for price in that range.

This stuff is great
There isn't a better brand a desoldering braid. I use this for rework after reflowing, and for removing scrap components.

Works great, but it could come with more wick.
It works very very well. I deduct one star because it seems like there should be more wick in the plastic package.

Brilliant product
I had to desolder a zif socket and this braid did an incredible job. The (leaded) solder was completely sucked up instantly. I set my tip temperature to 320โC. The best I have ever used. I have already ordered more just so Iโll have spare.

Perfect for SMT repairs
I chose this as it has the flux in it, has been useful for many repairs including consoles, controllers etc.it's not for larger items but great for those smaller SMTs.Recommend also having a bottle of flux handy though e.g. MG Chemicals 835-100ML and a good soldering iron - I use a JBC AD2200.

Until you try thers you don't know ohow good this is.
Although pricey, it works very well and absorbs solder liker a sponge to water. Just had to return a cheaper batch of 10 I also bought from Amazon that didn't even work at all.

Works well.
This stuff has been around for many years so is well proven. This one is no exception it works as it should so can't really ask for more.

Picks up well
Good braid needs to pick up the solder well, even at lower temperatures. This braid does a very good job, so is recommended :)
