Time Waver Paperback – Illustrated, August 10, 2014

Disclaimer - I received this book as a First Reads giveaway through Goodreads.This book was a very quick read, and very enjoyable. It not only is a good story, it has a great underlying message/moral. Once you adopt the premise of the story (time travel), the rest of the story is very credible - especially the aspects of human nature.An excellent choice for a middle school reading group and discussion.SPOILER ALERT - I love the "could've been" at the end - heavily emphasizing the moral aspect.While I enjoyed this book, I would have liked to have a little bit more of the details (or more specific instances) of going back as Blake got older, and at different stages in his life. You also didn't get a good feel during the course of the story how many times he went back, and the "calculations" of how much he would be shortening his life in total.

He suffers from all the same confusions and mistakes that everyone makes at the tender age of 18: dating, friends, school, tests, college, and right vs. wrong.What I liked about the book:• Some books spend 3 LONG chapters trying to establish the scene/world. Time Waver takes off from the 1st paragraph. The reader steps into “Blake’s” world and is immediately walking beside him.• The author has a good “voice” throughout the book and he narrates it well. The story “flows” really well and it is very easy to just sit back and enjoy the ride.• The story is very realistic! No insta-love, no love triangles, no one suddenly has super human powers or becomes a vampire, or the average looking boy or girl who doesn’t realize how gorgeous they really are. If you looking for another Twilight knock-off, this isn’t it. (HUGE Plus!) It’s a real story of normal people living a normal life; making mistakes and pay the consequences for those mistakes. (Well, there’s small amounts of time travel, but that is the purpose of the story.)• It’s clean! (Another HUGE Plus!) I’m so sick of constant profanity and overly descriptive unnecessary sex scene added to literature for nothing more than Shock Value. Kudos to the author for writing a good, clean book!• It has a definite ending. No cliffhangers making you wait a year for the next book.• This book has a purpose, a valuable lesson, that the reader should take to heart. I like that. If you are still thinking about the book days after you finished it, then the author did an awesome job.I would definitely recommend this book. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a fast read, I finished it in 3 sittings, and definitely worth it.

Awesome read! Great story line and character development. The author does a wonderful job, and I enjoyed his writing style. Won't go into too much detail, you have to read for yourself!!

It was hard to put this book down! You constantly want to know what happens next and actually find yourself reflecting on your own life. Great work.
