Great for dummies like me
Bought this as a required textbook for my graduate level statistics course, but this is one of the few textbooks I will not be reselling at the end of the year. It's simple, straightforward, and immensely helpful to someone who is terrible at SEM. The book includes examples that you can follow along in Stata by downloading the data set mentioned in the book (free). I haven't done that because the visuals and descriptions are enough for me, but I like having the option! Thanks in large part to this book, I currently have an A in the course.

The free user manual is quite similar!
I found this to be one of the least satisfying Stata books because the author does not go much beyond the free user manual on SEM provided by Stata, which is surprisingly user-friendly. Indeed, this book is among the thinnest of the many Stata books available. Many terms and options are not described fully beyond the free manual. The index is close to being worthless. My standard for Stata books is Mitchell's, "Interpreting and Visualizing Regression," which adds a LOT to the free manual, is extremely well written and is organized in a way that anyone can easily find what they need. If you want a quick overview of SEM in Stata, this book is OK. But the free user manual in Stata is surprisingly user-friendly and is remarkably similar to this $60 book!

Well done, Professor Acock!
Among the advantages of STATA is the GUI for model specification under CFA. This is not readily available for Mac OS machines, which is why I've recently migrated to STATA from SPSS. Alan Acock explains structural equation modeling and CFA very well. Consequently, I'll be using the book as a manual for several upcoming projects. Well done!

Excellent book
the book really seemed excellent to me. It seems to me very didactic and has satisfied my expectations to learn to analyze by this statistical method. I do recommend it to other people.

Great book to indroduce SEM in Stata
This is a great book to introduce SEM in Stata. Great examples and easy to understand. I would rate it at beginner/intermediate. Only problem is that Stata 13 is coming out now - it will have more SEM features that won't be covered in this book.

Great resource
This book really helped me. It is well written. Gives a nice/crispy background in CFA/SME, and many useful hints when you want to work with SEM in Stata.

DO NOT BUY KINDLE VERSION OF THIS BOOK
I think the content may be good. Unfortunately, the kindle version is unintelligible as the text formatting prevents the one from being able to read the book. I had this same problem with another Stata related Kindle book. Too bad Amazon doesn't provide any basic quality control on their products...

Some instructions.
It's essentially a book of instructions on how to run SEMs in Stata, and doesn't go into much detail about SEMs themselves. For example, I couldn't seem to find an outline of the assumptions.Still, quite a good book to have in hand to guide you through the codes & outputs.

I recommend this book for those who wants to use the ...
I recommend this book for those who wants to use the coding and how to run the SEM model in STATA. I dont think this book is suitable to understand the theory behind SEM. This book is useful particularly for those who are interested in factor analysis.

Great book for struggling doctoral student!
Being new to Stata and SEM, I found this book very informative. I do wish that that GSEM command was addressed in detail in order to understand how SEM can address categorical and ordinal variables. Perhaps there could be a “volume 2”. // Seriously, I found this book for $15 and it’s probably the best value for dollar book that I currently own. Thanks!

Great book; helped a lot
As a student (master), I had to run a SEM during a research project at university. Since my mothertongue is not English, but German, I was looking for something that was both simply written and statistically helpful at the same time. This book helped me a lot to grab the basics of structural equation modeling, and the examples were so close to my own model that it was quite simple to transfer the commands to my own project.

Eccellente
Non ho ancora finito di leggerlo ma é veramente un testo intuitivo e allo stesso tempo approfondito. Vale il costo e aiuta il ricercatore
