Wonderful ideas encourage more people to volunteer for children’s moment at church
Great ideas with a scripture to go with. Wonderful ideas encourage more people to volunteer for children’s moment at church. We are letting people choose one that matches one of the planned scriptures for the service when available or one of their choice when it it’s not. We are having them note the date they will use it right in the book, so that others will be aware if it was already used. We also believe that after several years, they could be used again.

This is a great book for all
As a children's minister this is one of my go to books for developmentally appropriate children's moments. Mark is a master of creating meaningful messages for children that are appropriate for them and do not put them on display. This is a great book for all, but particularly helpful if you are new to creating children's moments and need to have idea. I use it often.

Engaging, easy, and right on the mark
I have tried numerous books for children's moments, and this is the one that I like the most. Mark Burrows "gets" kids, how to relate to them in a way that is on their level. These are appropriate for main line churches, and hit the mark just right. Definitely recommended!!

A solid children's ministry resource
John Wesley went to chapel on Wednesday as my "action figure" that I needed for my "eyes and ears" sermonette. The gist - we have two eyes to see what God wants us to learn and two ears to hear what God wants us to know.In order to do this we need to exercise them to keep in shape (to hear/see God's messages). - pst planting the idea of spiritual disciplines. This is where John came in. The kids had to watch closely to "see" what he did - and mimic it. They also had to listen to my cues to do something else. The sub theme: We have two eyes and ears, but only one mouth. So maybe we should look and listen double the amount of times we talk. This the second time I've used Mark Burrows' Wow Time as the basis of my chapel sermon for the preschool students.Designed for a children's sermon during worship, Burrows' creativity is inspiring and quite fun!!I've been looking for something to use for chapel - and honestly WOW Time and it's companion, Moments of Wonder, have filled a huge need. While these often require props (aka you can't wait until the night before chapel) they provide an engaging way to talk about faith matter with the kids at the learning center.I have a feeling I'll be using these two books more this fall. I'm hoping Burrows' creativity rubs off on me - and maybe I'll write a few of my own.On a scale of one to five these books are a solid four. Great additions to my personal library.Check out his website (he is a director of worship music in addition to his work as an author) here: [...].You can find more of his books and choral music here:[...]While I often receive comp books to review for my blog, I purchased both of Burrows' books at a conference. (Just in case the FTC really cares about this detail.)- Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Love WOW Time. Love.
I'm the Director of Children's Ministries at a large, United Methodist church. I adore this book. Absolutely adore. I heard Mark speak at a children's ministries forum back in February, and he was so interesting and real that I wanted his book also. (I also emailed him after I heard him speak, and he was gracious enough to respond personally!) This book has the best ideas for children's times/sermons ever. His idea are real, and, as another reviewer said, he really gets kids. His ideas -- that we should present lessons with object, not object lessons; that we shouldn't avoid any subject, no matter how difficult; and that we should let kids move while they learn -- are amazing and fly in the face of many other children's sermon books, and I know; I've read a good number of them. I do tweak Mark's ideas to work best for my group and my personality, but the ideas here are the best collected. I eagerly await his next set of ideas. :)
