You don’t specify right/left because this particular brace is designed to be worn on either hand.

Is there metal Supporting the palm of your hands? Or just the thumb?

No palm support just thumb. And the wrap around the wrist leaves a lot for improvement. I would not recommend purchasing.

I have cmc in both hands. will the vive braces immobilize both areas?

Yes, and the brace can be used on either hand (left and right hands use the same brace). The brace has a hard stay that runs from the end of the thumb to the basal joint and partially immobilizes the thumb, but you are still able to grasp things lightly with the thumb and forefinger. Although hand usage is somewhat limited, there is no reason why braces could not be used on both hands. Mine brought me a lot of relief and is very comfortable. My doctor told me to use it every day for two weeks and then if pain subsided just use it as needed.

Why does this wrinkle when pulled tight?

The ones I have used do not do that, however it could be that your glove size is to large for your hand and the extra material in the glove is somehow causing a wrinkle effect. My hand is average size not large not small but again I have not experienced that with the Vive Art/Thumb Splint. Or lastly is it possible you have a defectively made glove splint???
