It's like crawling inside a giant mylar balloon. The material is thin, but seems strong enough to reuse multiple times. The seams and edges are reenforced and add structure to the bag shape. I only tested in a cool room, but it definitely took the chill off more effectively than a bedsheet which is comparable weight and thickness. Have yet to test in real conditions. I would say that for the money, it wouldn't hurt to put a few of these in your vehicle winter kit or bug out bag. I knocked off the star because the neat little storage sack is single use. The sack is great, but you'll never get the bag stuffed back into it once used.

Dancing in the rain! I bought two for my Alaska trip, I used one in Alaska to lay on my tent floor due to all the rain and condensation inside the tent. I wanted to keep my pack dry. Last year I went out for a sunset hike and I forgot my rain jacket. I ended up using the 2nd one. I kept this one, I let it dry out and put it back in my pack for another day. Durable, lightweight, perfect size for 1-2 people with good coverage. Could squeeze in 3 with minimal exposure. Open all the way up perfect for 3-4 people. Also can be used as a sleeping bag if needed.

Handy dandy item to have stored in the jeep. Doesn't take up much room and works in a pinch!

Appears to be exactly as advertised. I got this for emergency use and placed it in my car. This comes wrapped up in a niffty nylon bag. The thermal blanket material used feels adequately thick. I was worried it might be too thin. I can't comment on actual use as I did not want to open it out to try it as it can be difficult to neatly fold back up for insertion into the nylon bag. For now, I'm satisfied with my purchase.

They are a tight fit and if they are used in cold conditions, condensation is definitely an issue. For emergency use only.

Very good for an emergency, if you are hiking in the hills or mountains you should always carry one of these, the compass is great..very accurate I will be carrying both of these while I'm out walking a long way from people, it could save your life if you have an accident or you are lost and need to stay warm

Well made

This is a compact and lightweight silvered mylar and plastic laminate sack. The plastic outer layer feels like a medium-weight plastic bag, but it does seem to add some body and strength to the bivy bag. It is a great alternative to the wimpy basic mylar things found in many first aid and safety kits. It is not cozy like a sleeping bag but is windproof and waterproof. Used properly, it will retain body heat and repel water as an expedient shelter by itself or as a warm bag inside a shelter. It is long enough and wide enough to fit a 6-foot, medium-framed person with room to spare with enough length to cover their head easily. It does not breathe, so will build up condensation inside from sweat, and, if a person is careless, and covers their head without leaving adequate. ventilation, the bag will get wet and clammy inside, or they will suffocate in a mylar-lined plastic bag. Govern yourself accordingly. I purchased these to be added to car winter emergency kits and, combined with other items in the kit, could be a lifesaver. I find the build quality pretty good with strongly taped seams, and if treated carefully, it could probably be reused, though it is cheap enough that tossing it and buying another after using it in a real emergency is no problem. If you do try to save it for reuse be aware that getting it back into its original compact bag is essentially impossible. A word about getting into one of these without wrecking it. Roll the top down so you can put your feet to the bottom, and then, if possible, stand up and slide it up like a cocoon. Once in, you can lay down. In a car, that can be tricky, but avoid pinning it under you such that you are yanking on it to pull it up. It cannot handle a lot of pulling and yanking into place like a fabric sleeping bag can.
