Respro Bandit ScarfThe Respro Bandit Scarf screens against nuisance dusts and odours. It incorporates our Dynamic ACC (DACC) filter which is strategically placed around the breathing area and laminated between the cotton material of the scarf. The Bandit has been made to last for at least six months, with the filter being specially treated to be fully washable. It is a comfortable and convenient product, suitable for both summer and winter riding conditions.Note: This mask SHOULD NOT be used where a device complying with European Directive 89/686 or 89/656 is required (i.e. industrial environments). It should only be used to reduce discomfort caused by exposure to coarse, non-toxic particles where the concentrations do not exceed the National permissible exposure limit. (For devices complying with European Directive 89/686, contact your local Department of Trade and Industry).

Meh...be
Even though I’ve been unable to use this because it’s not a standard bandana-sized mask (hence I cannot tie it without making it a permanent square-knot), I’ll submit a review anyway. First, know that it doesn’t feel soft like a bandana; it’s rigid bc it’s a legitimate filtering mask. It’s unique design is interesting and I can see it performing well in most conditions. It’s not cheaply made; appears to be high quality. I’ll have to modify the ends so that I can tie it securely to what I thought was a normal-sized face...other than that I have no complaints and if you are a pea-head, buy it. Note that shipping is slow as it comes out of the UK.

Difficult to breathe when using
I thought this would be the answer when mowing the lawn but it simply felt claustrophobic to me and the nose piece was a little tight when it needed to stay in place. Good idea in concept but for me at least it did not fit the bill. I did not return it.

Works fine, fits fine...
First, there are several different ways that you can wear this... . I tried tying the scarf behind my head (I have a large head for a female, probably average if I were a male) and if my head was any larger, it would not have fit. So if you have a large male head, it probably will not work for you. Tied around the back of my head, it was ok, but seemed like it "might" slip down. I also tried tying it behind my neck, this worked much better, and did not feel the least bit like it might slip. It also comes with a string slide which someone suggested you use to help hold the "mask" on behind the head or neck.I found that the slide was actually much better used in front around the scarf to hold it closer to the face and help keep out dust. To do this, position the string just under the chin and tighten the slide. As for wearing it sideways like on westerns as one other reviewer says... I don't see whereas that would be necessary. The scarf itself is made of the same material as a 3M type dust mask - without the stiff edges that a regular mask has, the material is a bit more versatile - yet a little bit more stiff than a regular cotton scarf would be. In other words, the scarf IS the filter. I thought that it might have an imbedded filter, but no, the scarf is the filter. I really like this alot, and am going to get alot of use out of it. I received it within a couple of days of ordering it, which was great cus our dusty windy season has just started! This is washable and the company states that is should withstand 6 months of daily use. I hardly expect to use it daily. A bit expensive for a simple 3M type mask, but if you really don't want to walk around in public with a dorky looking white thing around your face...and the money is worth looking "normal", then it's a good purchase... I would say, for me,... it was worth it!

Works. Love it!
Have loved this product for years. Scarf part could be a bit bigger for easier tying! My resperatory therapist recommended it. Works better than N95 masks.

Image is misleading
They do not show the mask being worn by someone so it looks okay. Once I got it, the mask was half the size I expected. I have a normal size head and face but it barely covered it and the drawstring wouldn't properly sinch it up to fit your face. The bottom wouldn't seal because of the drawstring so everything you wanted to keep out gets in anyways. For the $30 I spent, I could have bought 2 higher quality masks and I suggest you don't make the same mistake

Struggle to tie in a temporary knot without it putting unnecessary pressure upon my nasal area
Scarf is too small not enough material. Struggle to tie in a temporary knot without it putting unnecessary pressure upon my nasal area. Would only recommend if you have a medium to small head. Other than that the material did seem of good quality and durable.

Not enough fabric to tie it around your head
I ignored the previous reviews that all said that there isn't enough fabric in the back to tie it. It is because I have a small head- I am a woman and most adult hats are way too large. I assumed that this has been designed for an average head. but oh no- i honestly cannot see myself starting to fiddle with tiny bits of fabric on the back of my head in the middle of the street to tie it! and no way it stays on. If you tie it too tight, you are squishing your own nose and too lose- it slips in a few seconds. I will try to sew a rubber band on the back (seriously...) and use it that way. Respro needs to fix this product, it's really unusable in its current form.

Seems good
Purchased this mask to take on a trip to Beijing. Fortunately the air quality was good when we were there so didn't have to use it in earnest. I did put it on in the plane when they sprayed bug killer in the cabin on take off from China. I could barely detect any smell but my wife said that the insecticide spray did smell strongly. When I took the mask off again the smell of stale aircraft cabin and old carpets hit me powerfully, so plainly the carbon filter cloth works well, at least in the short term. The mask is comfortable to wear and the drawstring ensures tight fitting around the nose and mouth, which is a weak point on most other types of mask. One weak point is that the fabric must be knotted behind your head, and there is barely enough material to do this - Velcro fastening would be better.

A great fit and really good quality
At last! A mask that fits under my motorcycle helmet. A great fit and really good quality. Before buying I read a review what reported that it is difficult to put on when wearing a motorcycle jacket and this is entirely correct - unless the jacket is extremely thin. However, this minor issue does not take away the fact that I love this mask and will buy again soon. Thank you.

Saving my lungs from inner-city pollution.
I live in a very built up and polluted area - between two major roads, a coach station and a bus station. The air, quite simply, stinks! I bought this scarf, in the hope that I could cut down on some of the muck I was breathing in and it seems to be doing the trick.I feel a little self-conscious when I'm walking along the street wearing this mask - one friend joked that I looked a bit like I'm off to start a riot. To avoid looking too eccentric, in winter I wrap a regular scarf over it. In the summer, since the fabric is soft, I can cup it in my hand and hold it over my nose and mouth at the most polluted areas. It tucks away easily in a pocket when I don't need it.For something small and fairly cheap, it's doing a decent job.

Life saver
I first used this product over 10 years ago when I did a daily 90mile round trip commute through London on my motorbike. Great thing is that it's washable so lasts for a long time. I think the wash is also meant to cleanse the built in charcoal liner. It's like a giant hankerchief so unlike more shaped masks it is much more easy to fit to suit and less bulky. I have added a velcro strip which makes it a bit easier to fit instead of tying up, bug that is a personal preference. I have tried other mask products but as a biker this is my clear favourite.

Not fit for purpose
Too small to tie behind head, completely useless, toggle strap makes whole mask fall off too. Who on earth designed this? An expensive joke

Too small, it is barely possible to tighten. ...
Too small, it is barely possible to tighten. For the price I expect quality cotton and not such a cheap flimsy fabric. Some filtering for the short moment it stays in position. The design is half thought through, the way it is attached leads to a drag downwards.

Expensive for what is basically an awkward fitting handkerchief.
At first sight this seems to be expensive for what is basically a handkerchief. It does have a tie back, and like others have said, it is very short and difficult to tie back effectively. The handkerchief itself is impregnated with charcoal - which might be their excuse for charging so much. Nasal bridge is not very comfortable. I have still to test it outside.

The mask itself is good, but its a bit short and very difficult to tie. I would think fine for youngsters.

Does the job
Fits well, even with glasses, and I don't feel I'm breathing bus exhaust fumes anymore! Would recommend this product to friends.
