Works fine 2010 Toyota sequoia limited
I'm frustrated by vehicles that don't come with at LEAST a locking fuel door or locking cap. I know they aren't much protection but I couldnt believe that a full sized SUV didn't come with either. Like many I went through 2 other caps that threw a check light. Luckily I kept my OEM cap. I've had THIS one since 2015. I've LIVED in (not visited) crazy hot places and snow covered mountain places since 2015 and zero problems. Now, it's May of 2022, the cap stopped locking(i.e. doesn't free spin when locked) so now it's like a regular cap but still doesn't throw check light. For the price i'd say I got my money's worth. I Just ordered another one. Hopefully they are still making a quality product 7 years down the road from my 1st cap. Cap is for 2010 Toyota Sequoia 5.7L. I'm not POSITIVE but I've owned 3 Sequoias since 2004 (only replaced because ...who doesnt love new car smell? Lol). I have always done my own maintenance and I find that MOST.of the time sequoias use the same parts as similar year Toyota Tundras (makes sense from manufacturing standpoint. ). Sequoias 4x4 5.7L are SEEM like they took a Tundra 4x4 5.7L and added rear seats instead of a bed and a ton of soccer mom amenities lol. I'm talking PARTS wise not capability so don't flame me for trying to be helpful 😆 (though I've taken full loads of paragliding friends and equipment to steep and remote sites without roads many times and done other things that that are normally Tundra territory. It's no Tundra but it works for me. If I could afford it I'd have both. Also I've found that the Amazon "this fits/doesnt fit your car" filter isn't always right. It's good...but needs to be improved. I generally try to cross check part numbers with other sites before buying. I don't write many reviews, too many negative experiences for just trying to help. So hopefully this will help someone. (Dunno why I have to rate "mileage" a gas cap but gave it 5 just in case🙂)

Working great after several months
I ordered this about 3-4 months ago. It's to replace one that's about 10 years old. First thing, lubricate your new gas cap! Try to remember to do this once a year. Nothing as hair raising as a stuck gas cap at the fill up. If you do get stuck, you might want to store some lubricants in your car. Graphite powder is the most storage friendly. If still stuck then you need to drill out the cap. AAA or a mechanic or an auto parts store might have a drill handy. The seals on locking gas caps are never as good as original equipment. Keep your old gas cap. I've had to swap back to the original to pass inspection while I fiddled with the locking cap trying to improve the seal. Oh yeah, most thieves see a lock and move on. But a drug addict in the throes of withdrawal will try to rip out the lock. This is the biggest reason why the seal on a locking gas cap will fail suddenly. Talk to your mechanic about a reinforced collar for your gas tank. It's a pricey little item but nothing compared to replacing the gas tank. And unlike a locking gas cap, it should be a one time expense. The collar of my tank still isn't quite straight.

Fails and unable to remove to gas up
AVOID THIS CAP!!!!!! This failed in just over the 30 day return policy. My family and I were stranded at a gas station on empty, unable to gas up and leave because this cap failed completely. Unlocked it as I had the previous 3 times I used it, only this time it just kept clicking and turning. a few other customers at the station attempted to try to help and had the same result. unlocked, relocked, unlocked, time and again HOPING it would come off just ONE more time. Waited for over an hour and luckily a handyman noticed us and used his hammer and a chisel to literally chop bits off of it piece by piece until he was able to fish out the bottom and we were able to finally gas up. Thankfully, I had left the original cap in the back of our vehicle and just put that back on. I would rather thieves steal my gas again instead of risking being stranded like this with a junk gas cap from China. DO NOT BUY THIS!!! unless you enjoy being stranded!!!!!

The gas theif.
I purchased this locking gas cap because I live in a neighborhood where things tend to disappear overnight. I awoke at 2 am one night because I could hear someone outside my window. And wouldn't ya know it, someone was sucking gas out of my tank not 12 feet away. Not only did they take most of the gas but they ripped off the cap for my tank too. It's just too darned expensive to leave my gas up for grabs so I snapped this up when I saw that it was only 6 bucks. I have had this cap on my car for 3 weeks now and the only time the gas needle moves is when I have been driving my car, which is exactly how I like it. The lock itself is very easy to use and its easy to tell when its not locked properly. When it is locked correctly, the top of the cap spins in place but won't unscrew from the tank. By my estimation, this cap has already paid for itself 3 times over. Since it has only been a few weeks I will update this post later to let you know how it holds up, or holds out. Up-date 10/24/2012: The Gas cap is still going strong. Someone tried to pick the lock to get at the tank the other night. I can see the scratches where they were trying to pry it off. I am glad to report that they did not succeed. I think it's safe to say I am well pleased with the performance.

Two new caps - two differnt cap mechanisms
I replaced a cap that a thief tried to lever into. The perp popped the keyway and tumblers out, but that only left the cap in locked condition. Good. In replacing the cap, I accidentally clicked "2" on the quantity and received two caps, both with the same part number and both marked "Made in Mexico." The first was identical to the old cap, with the single-cut square-headed typical gas cap key. The other had double-cut keys with plastic over-molded heads and a different operating mechanism. I guess this is an upgraded version of the cap. On the later model cap, when the key is turned about 100º counterclockwise, you can unscrew the cap as normal. However, when tightening, it does not reach a point where it begins clicking over the internal ratchet - indicating it is tight. Rather the cap is locked together and you may tighten the cap as tightly as you desire. Then, when turning the key back and removing it, the cap freewheels in both directions. Actually, I think this second cap is an improved mechanism, harder to pick and allowing you to tighten the cap more fully. I sprayed both locks with a liberal amount of aerosol SuperLube® and worked them several times. They operate much more smoothly with some lubrication. Overall, satisfied with both new caps.

Put this on a 2003 Honda Accord so they can't steal fuel
Works, keeps the thieves out. B/c they have learned how to get the locking door open.

Major Improvement over OE, but I can see flaws
I just picked up a 95 Jeep Wrangler, and there's really nothing to steal off this rig. The most valuable thing on this thing is probably going to be the gas, as gas prices are hitting $4/gal again. The gas cap is... well, a gas cap, nothing fancy. It's just like my F-150, just a twist until it clicks and you're done. This cap is an improvement over OE because it's got a lock and key(s), which is why anyone reading this is interested. Well, this is what I've observed. It is not very straight forward as to how this thing works. One would assume that once you twist the cap on, turn the key one way or the other to lock it, it would prevent the cap from spinning. Wrong. Well, if you think about the mechanics of it and take a look at it, there are no physical provisions to accomplish this. So how this cap works is a little counter-intuitive. When in the "unlocked" position, the cap is engaged with the threads. In the "locked" position, the cap is disengaged with the threads. What this means is when this product is unlocked, it will allow the user/owner to twist the cap on and off. Once the cap is on, the user will "lock" the cap, disengaging the cap from the threads, making the cap (the user-interactive portion) spin freely. This prevents anyone without the key from engaging the cap and twisting it open. I would assume this is really the only way to make a "generic" gas cap, that will work on most if not all vehicles. The only other way I can see it working is with an internal camming mechanism which will create friction on the inside. The issue with that is over time, twist on, twist off, the cam may eventually fatigue the metal and it stops working. Well, this is not how this product works anyway... So back to this product, the plastic this is made of feels very cheap, not solid at all. I can imagine over time, something will break and I'm afraid I would never be able to remove the cap, since, once in the locked position, it will spin indefinitely. See the issue? But like I mentioned before, it's a much better cap than OE, if your gas (= hard earned money) is of any value, this is a pretty decent product. Otherwise, you may want to keep an eye on this product and replace it when you feel it deteriorating. It does do it's job at capping the gas port closed and locking it, preventing would-be thieves... or they would be thieves anyway, or should I say, preventing you from being a victim. So I give this product a 3-stars, since it does do what it was designed to do, but it could benefit from a better design or built more heavy-duty.

No issues on a Honda Element
Recently bought a Honda Element and was surprised to learn that the fuel door does not lock. Ordered this locking gas cap right away. Haven't had any issues with check engine/gas cap warning lights. The price on Amazon was much better than any of the parts stores.

Works with Chevy Trax
Works with the 2017-2020 model Chevrolet Trax. I love the piece of mind it gives me, especially when I travel, that nobody can tamper with my fuel.

Compatibility with my vehicle type, not at all.
Toyota will not work reliably with a non-Toyota gas cap. This has been confirmed through a number of Toyota Tacoma Facebook groups. This caused my fuel evaporation system to fail taking linked system with it. May work well with other vehicles, but certainly not Tacoma or other Toyota products. 1 star just for Tacoma

Muy buena calidad, las llaves son cómodas por el recubrimiento que tienen, pero sobre todo es de muy buen material.
