I am editing this review and changing the rating because the item stopped working about a month after we bought it. We changed the batteries twice, but the display was all haywire. In my original review I said we were very pleased with this item. The price was much less than many others we saw online. The display is clear and the extra long cord means we can insert the thermometer into a roast or turkey and leave it connected to the reader on the counter. The oven door closes completely without crimping the cord, just like one we had over a decade ago that was built into an oven in our last house.I no longer would recommend it, BUT I was very pleased with how easy it was to return to Amazon with the pre-paid label they provided online. My reimbursement was very prompt. I don't often return items, but when I do Amazon is great about it.

The construction quality is quite poor. The AAA batteries don't make solid contact and requires wiggling to make them make a proper connection.

If you're looking for an inexpensive, cheaply made product...this may be it.

Temps reading is highly variable. Had probe in a 1"x5"sausage on the grill. Grill temp at 450F and within 30sec the temp read >200deg F. I'll be returning it.
