Useful, but curb your expectations
I’ve had amazing results from Allen Carr’s books on drinking, gambling and junk food/sugar addiction. I’d even say life saving. But, while his book on digital addiction has some useful food for thought, I can’t say I’ve had the same level of success with it.The problem is that alcohol, gambling and junk food can all be successfully cut from your life as needless vices (if you don’t believe me, give his other books a try). My phone can’t. All my friends live abroad and my occupation ties me to my phone constantly. I can’t switch it off for days at a time, unless I want to live the life of a person with no human interaction and no income. The book gives useful advice on quitting/curbing social media and gaming, but they weren’t huge problems for me in the first place. If they are problems for you, maybe you’ll have more success than me. If you’re a Tik Tok (yuck!) addict desperate to end your dependence, it could help you a lot, who knows? In an ideal world, I could throw my phone in the bin and never have to think about it again, like Allen Carr’s other books helped me do with the booze, blackjack and cheese crust pizza. Sadly, the method can’t be applied to digital annoyances in the same way.

it works!
Goes way behind usual tips to disable notifications etc. Really a mindshift shift required to break free (like all addictions). Highly recommend.

Very useful
I gave up smoking partly with the help of Allen Carr’s book, and he brings similar methods to smartphone addiction. I feel more comfortable and less ruled by my phone now.Thank you to Netgalley for an arc copy of this book

Everyone needs this
This is a guide most people now need as we are all addicted to these devices no matter how we try to claim otherwise. All of us get sucked in by notifications and apps to make life easier and spending less time on a screen is a great idea

This book will give you your life back.
Excellent as always. Will change your life. There’s also a Fb group where you can ask the team for advice. It’s called Allen Carr’s smart phone dumb phone group.
