Heartbreak Express Tour
For Shawn Michaels' fans, this DVD is a must-own as it relives his first two reigns as WWF World champion in 1996 and 1997. For other collectors, then you may have gotten enough of these matches in 'From the Vault'. This program was a Coliseum Video release titled 'Heartbreak Express Tour,' although they must have intended to name it 'HBK's Boyhood Dream' since all the breakpoints flash that logo. Regardless, it was made available for rent or purchase in 1997. The program begins with Shawn Michaels winning the 1996 Royal Rumble, then Dok Hendrix hosts as we see Shawn Michaels compete at WrestleMania XII, Good Friends / Better Enemies, Beware of Dog, SummerSlam '96, Mind Games, 1996 Survivor Series, and 1997 Royal Rumble. Like several Coliseum Video releases, the matches are edited, and they air several minutes of the match at a time. WRESTLEMANIA XII: We see hype for the match (about 5 minutes) and then the entrance of both men (4 minutes) before the match itself begins. They air the first 10 minutes and about the last 15 minutes of the Iron Man match itself, making this match by far the longest on the program. IN YOUR HOUSE: The first WWF Title defense for Shawn Michaels on a pay-per-view was against Diesel, and it was 'No Holds Barred.' This program airs about 7 minutes of the match, but fortunately, the full-length match is on 'From the Vault' since this footage cuts out the heart of the match. BEWARE OF DOG: No stranger to controversial finishes, Shawn Michaels had his first controversy at Beware of Dog, where he and British Bulldog pinned each other simultaneously. The program gives 10 minutes of footage, showing the heart of the match, then the controversial finish. QUICK SEGUE: Skipping through King of the Ring and International Incident, the program shows about 10 seconds of the British Bulldog rematch; then the six-man tag match is clipped down to about 30 seconds to show Vader pinned Shawn Michaels, and advance the program itself to the next major match. SUMMERSLAM '96: This footage lasts about 13 minutes, and it was probably the most effective of the whole program. It has the wild beginning of the match, then jumps to the disqualification and Jim Cornette restarting that portion until the end of the match. It wasn't a great match, but based on this footage, you never would have known it. MIND GAMES: With the exception of 'Three Faces of Foley,' there has yet to be a DVD release for Mick Foley or Shawn Michaels that has not had this match in it. This DVD shows 9-10 minutes of it, but the full-length match is available on 'From the Vault,' 'Hard Knocks & Cheap Pops', and 'Greatest Hits and Misses.' SURVIVOR SERIES: All good things must come to an end, and so was the case for Shawn Michaels' first reign. He was upended by Sycho Sid in an incredible match at Madison Square Garden. This program gives 17 minutes, and it's well worth watching every second. ROYAL RUMBLE: The rematch between Shawn Michaels and Sycho Sid took place in Shawn Michaels' hometown. There is not much mention of the fact Shawn Michaels has the flu, but this match is impressive for that reason. The program airs 15 minutes of this rematch, where Shawn Michaels gets his revenge on Sycho Sid. The program ends with host Dok Hendrix rapping things up with a plug for house shows and Shawn Michaels' second title reign, saying he 'needs your support now more than ever.' Definitely an ironic conclusion since the second reign lasted about one month before Shawn Michaels forfeited the WWF Title.

BOYHOOD DREAM!!
This DVD is #11 on my 130 greatest WWE DVD's. This is better then Shawn's 2nd DVD. There's only one match worth talking about and seeing...Bret Hart vs. Shawn Michaels was the greatest match in WrestleMania history until the Triple Threat. Michaels wins the title in Overtime.Get this DVD for that match alone because it is only $10. Overall the other matches show Shawn's ability.

HBK - THE GREATEST EVER
SHAWN MICHAELSBOYHOOD DREAMAs you may known the greatest of all time Shawn Michaels has retired and I can't help but go back and watch all of his classic matches. I have reviewed two of his DVD sets thus far and this marks the third.1.[IORN MAN MATCH] {WWF TITLE} HBK VS BRET HART-I still to this day don't understand why people talk bad about this match, this I absolutely with out a doubt one of the greatest matches in the history of the business. People talk about this match and say it is overrated and not all that entertaining, how in the world can people say that. These two gave us all a very entertaining and competitive match that was well paced and exciting in my opinion. Of course after countless iron man matches have taken place people who started watching wrestling with those ones will likely look down on this one. This was the first and still to this day the best, Bret vs. Shawn every time was excellent and this was one of those. Of course people will argue "well this wasn't the first match to go an hour" which is very very true but it was the first as far as I can remember with the stipulation of who ever has the most decisions within an hour is the winner. This was the third major meeting between the two and the second major meeting on pay-per-view, 1.[I-C title ladder match {first in WWF}] 2.[WWF title survivor series 92] 3.[WWF title Iron Man Match Wrestlemania 12]. Like I said before this was a well paced match all the way through but don't think that the action doesn't pick up to a quicker pace because it does. There are many memorable moments that take place during this bout like HBK sailing all the way over the turnbuckle. And the camera was in the perfect place for that shot of the time keeper taking some sweet chin music. Bret flying threw the ropes onto Shawn still lives in my mind as does HBK flying off the top turnbuckle onto Bret on the outside, sure they did that stuff before but the emotion and atmosphere really add to the action. I guess it also doesn't hurt that the camera angles are perfect during all this. Of course the real great thing about this is that between all the high spots there is a lot of real good wrestling taking place. Mix in a very exciting finale and even better over time and you have all the makings of a classic, plus the celebration afterwards is great and McMahon is hilarious.5/52.[NO HOLDS BARRED] {WWF TITLE} HBK VS DIESEL-the first match that the two had with the roles reversed as far as baby face/heel goes, and unlike last time HBK came to win. This was the classic no hold barred match between the two where Diesel [Kevin Nash] used Mad Dog Vachone's [not sure I spelled that right] fake leg as a weapon. Once again like every other match on this collection people will argue that it is over rated, to me this is still a classic. Maybe it is because when I watch these it is like when I first saw it, or maybe it is because HBK is my favorite wrestler but I enjoy all these matches. This was for the time in WWF was a pretty hardcore match, I say for WWF because at the time ECW was alive and well. But for this company this was a great hardcore match before this was the norm in the company. There is a lot of good action in this match and the best friends turned enemies angle was working real well even after it started way back in 1994 between these two. To any one who says Vince doesn't care about his wrestlers [at least some of the time] should check this one out. I never really noticed it before but when Nash goes to power bomb HBK into the table notice how Vince tries to grab the video monitor out of the way but it pops up into the air. Shawn wins this one after some sweet chin music is played for Nash.5/53.[WWF TITLE] HBK VS BRITISH BULLDOG-this match was their "Beware of Dog" pay per view that had trouble and lost power. These two always had great matches together and like those I really enjoyed this one. The action is pretty back and forth as Shawn uses his speed to out maneuver Bulldog. On the other hand Bulldog uses his power to manhandle HBK so it makes for an interesting match. Also it is note worthy that Owen Hart eats a nasty super kick, this one ends with some controversy. When Shawn hits a belly to back suplex with a bridge for the pin two refs see it definitely. One said Shawn pinned bulldog while the other said HBK had his shoulders down and Bulldog was on top. It was a crazy ending that lead to a draw, which lead to a rematch at "King of the Ring".5/54.[WWF TITLE] HBK VS VADER-this was at the time a match I was worried about because I remembered Vader killing people in WCW and thought he was a legitimate threat to Shawn's reign. This one was full of some great action since the start of the match, I love the drop kick when Vader is on the ground. HBK flies all over the place in this one going over the top, off the ropes, off the top, moonsaults [from both] and every thing. Vader got the title shot by pinning Michaels a month earlier at the "International Incident" pay per view in a six man tag match. First though HBK looses this one by way of count out but they restart the match. The action picks up even more from here but only to have Shawn get disqualified when he attacks Jim Cornett and Vader with a racket. In the third and final round of this match Vader misses a moonsaults only to have Shawn nail one on him, this leads to the pin and HBK keeps the belt.5/55.[WWF TITLE] HBK VS MANKIND-once again we have another match that people say is overrated and not as good as advertised. I really don't get it because it just seems like if the match didn't happen post DX people don't give Shawn's matches enough credit, yes his series with Kurt Angle and the hour long RAW match with John Cena are all classic but he has had classics long before those. I remember watching this match and really being worried that Shawn may not keep the belt, because at the time Mankind was a whole new breed in the WWF. I had watched Mick before in WCW and ECW [who were in the house that night] and was well aware of what he could do. But I relaxed and knew Shawn would over come this obstacle, still though this was the same guy [Mankind] that took it to the Undertaker so I knew it would be interesting. The match its self was great and very entertaining, the action in this match was very well paced and did not over do any thing. It seemed to me that the story of this match played out very well and the Undertaker, Vader, & Psycho Sid appearances just added to the atmosphere. There were a lot of high spots in the match of course like the super kick off of the chair or both wrestlers falling from the top turnbuckle onto the table. Shawn takes a DQ victory for this unique match. This was not really a hardcore match or a traditional wrestling match but kinda a hybrid of the two, very unique feeling to this one.5/56.[WWF TITLE] HBK VS SYCHO SID-this was the legendary match at the 96 Survivor Series in which he finally lost the strap. I was really excited for this one back in the day because not only was Shawn defending the belt but he also was facing a former friend [storyline]. Add into that Bret Hart made his return that night in it had to be a great night. This was also the night the fans turned on Shawn and started cheering for Sid, it was crazy. Also Sid nailed Jose [Shawn's manager] and HBK with one of the cameras to win the belt. Normally the fans would boo that but on that night they were all about it. The action was very good especially for Sid with it being a tougher type match for HBK. I really enjoy this match, the story in it was great.5/57.[WWF TITLE] HBK VS SYCHO SID-this was the rematch that happened at the Royal Rumble in Shawn's hometown of San Antonio Texas. Of course being a fellow Texan you know who I was rooting for in this one. This one was a completely different match than the previous one seeming more fun while the first one seemed bigger. It may have been the different atmospheres but this one was pure fun. The action was good as usual with Sid out powering the smaller opponent. HBK gets revenge for the last match thought nailing Sid with the camera. But it would be some sweet chin music that would end this one and he had to get way up there to land it. But Shawn regains the belt in his hometown in front of not only the fans but his friends and family as well.5/5Shawn will always be my favorite ever, of all time.
