Sennheiser Replacement Earpads for HD 800 (1 Pair)

These replaced the ear pads on my HD800S after having used them for about three years. The good is that they feel exactly like the pads that came with my headphones when they were new. The comfort is identical and I do not notice any change in the sound signature. The bad is how overpriced these are and how arduous their installation was. If you want the official Sennheiser earpads, there isn't much you can do about the price. Installing them wasn't complicated but required an astonishing amount of pressure to properly attach the ear pads to the frame. If I hadn't already watched a YouTube video that mentioned this fact, I wouldn't have dared to press so hard on the headphones for fear of damaging them. If you don't have a lot of gripping strength, you may want someone to help you. I'm a 28 year old man and my thumbs were aching after all was said and done. Despite these reservations I'm still pleased with my purchase.

i tried the "knock off" brands and they all change the sound too much.

Installing these ear pads was not intuitive and Sennheiser applies no guidance. It is a lot easier if you carefully watch Mike's video on HiFi Insider as it appears that the repetitive application of pressure to the pad eventually moulds the shape so that it magically attaches to the headphone cup. That said, these are expensive for way they are. Since my last set last 10 years - I don't look to replace these again until 2017.

Tremendous improvement over cheap alternatives in comfort, seal and build quality. However, it's very hard to install as the membranes may be too tight when new. Price is also undeniably high.

Still hard to wrap my head around how expensive these pads can get, even the 6XX pads are way too overpriced.It's a bit difficult to clip them in the first time as the plastic needs a couple of turns to form the seat-in.They should charge around $20-30 for the HD800 pads and HD6XX should be around $10. No kidding.

Stock ear pads for the hd800s probably the best, extremely comfortable.Maybe the only con is the fact it’s pita to put it on, but it doable, just hard, super hard.

Get top side fastened,fine someone to hold that end,and you hold the other. Now work your way around squeezing the pad against the frame and you’ll have them on in no time.

I never got to use this as these are impossible to fit into the HD800. its a bit smaller by a few mm than the original pads and that matters a lot. they prob need to be stretched and need a lot of patience to get them to fit but after many hours of gripping, pushing and stretching the inner plastic i gave up. Ill just wait for the Dekoni HD800 custom pads.

Headphones are like new again, very easy to install.

HD800の初期型（シリアルが４桁）もありイヤーパッドもボロボロになったので今回交換しました。交換自体は非常に簡単で、ユニットのDの形の真ん中辺り（LRの表記があるところ）が爪も溝もない状態になっているのでそこから引っ張るとすぐにイヤーパッドが取れます。新しいイヤーパッドもDの形を合わせて溝に沿って押し込むだけで入るのですが、なぜか爪がうまく引っかからずにパカパカ外れました。あまりに外れるのでイヤーパッドに入っているプラスチックのユニットを取り外し比べてみました。今回交換するイヤーパッドがなぜか交換前のイヤーパッドより軽かったので不思議だったのですが、比べてみると中のプラスチックのユニットが変わっています。旧型は溝に切り欠きがなく全体的に分厚いです。（軽量化していない）新型は切り欠きが出来、全体的に華奢になっています。（軽量化している）入らない原因はどうもユニット自体の強度が不足して歪み、爪がうまく掛からなかったようです。結果的に中のプラスチックのユニットだけ旧のものと交換して入れるとあっさり交換出来ました。ただ新型のイヤーパッドが悪いわけではなく、ただ単に旧型のHD800に起こる相性問題だと思うので、もし付かないよという事があれば中のプラスチックのユニットを交換も検討してみて下さい。（交換すると保証とかなくなると思いますので自己責任でお願いします。）

HD800(S/N 429xx)に取り付けました。取り付けは思っていたほど難しくなく、左右で所要2分ほどだったでしょうか。後方直線部分の上と下をはめ込んで位置決めし、はめた部分が外れないように指と手のひらでキープしながら円弧部分を順に進めました。そして最後の部分を握力でグッとはめ込んで完成。実は一度てこずったのですが、左右を入れ替えたらあっさりできました。交換前後のイヤーパッドを比べると肌触りも弾力も別物です。印象としては少しボロかな?程度の感じだったのが、こんなにもベタベタ&薄くなっていたのかと。音質も大きく変わり、今まで音が抜けまくっていたことを実感します。HD800って音が厚かったんですね。すっかり忘れていました。劣化を感じた時点での早めの交換をお勧めします。今回は使用頻度の少なさから4年半での交換となりましたが、常用すれば2～3年で再交換となるでしょう。こんなところでもうけを出すビジネスモデルに★1つですが、サードパーティー製では音が大きく変わってしまうため音質面は★5つ。この純正イヤーパッドの短寿命、何とかならないもんですかね。

2017年初頭以前の旧型と比べると、わずかに軽く、また、耳後方の偽造対策シールが貼られている部分に当たる場所に制振の為か反響対策なのか不明ですがスポンジが追加されています。現行型は一カ所ずつパチンパチンとやろうとするとおそらく永久にはまりません。全体に、均一に、一斉に力をかける感じで押し込むと加工無しでちゃんとはまります。コツを押さえてしまえば特に時間もかかりません。私はどちらかというと物をあまり壊さない人間で、こういう作業にも割と得意意識がありますがそうではない方には苦痛を伴うと思いますし作業中に(安くない)HD800(S)本体を壊す恐れもあると思います。あえて中身を旧型のフレームと交換するのも手です。

イヤーパッドがボロボロになったので、Eイヤ、フジヤより安いAmazonで当製品を購入しました。さあ交換するかと思い、古いパッドを外そうとしたら外し方がわからず、ネットの情報見ながら両方外すまでに約1時間。ようやく新しいのを取り付けようと、ここにはめ込みゃいいんだなと半ばキレつつ、パッドを押し込んでみてもなかなかはまらず。パッドを固定するツメが５か所程あって、そのうち１か所だけどうしてもはまらず、ブチキレつつもなんとか片方だけ取り付けるまでにさらに１時間。もう片方は比較的楽に出来ましたが、正直言ってしんどいです。難しいのではなく、しんどい。なんでこんな構造してんだ、、、とりあえず、いい感じに交換自体は出来ましたし、装着感も極上に戻りましたが、もう二度とやりたくありません。本当に疲れた、、、あ、ちなみに当方のHD800はシリアル２万台ですが、イヤーパッド内部のプラスチックのユニットは、新旧共に同じユニットでした。
