Structured Analytic Techniques for Intelligence Analysis

Best analyst resource I've experienced and wish they were available when I oversaw the FBI's Intel Analyst program. Easy to reference and understand when determining the best way analytical technique to use. I use the reference when teaching private sector Intel Analysts.

This is like stepping into a treasure tomb with timeless tools. For someone who is not from law enforcement agencies but from a business world - skill in structured analysis techniques are equally important as learning business intelligence systems; in fact it’s more important now in the post Covid-19 world.

Enough said.

I bought this book as a refresher and reference. However, once I received it I'm convinced that the pricing is a bit inflated relative to the quality. While the intent of making this a reference guide is good, it just doesn't feel like it will last long and at approximately $130 it should be more sturdy. I'm very disappointed.

Nothing to say about book's contents, its so perfect for anyone involved in intelligence sectors, suggesting high quality method regarding intelligence analysis using some specific cases. But, as attached, even if the book is offered as spiral bound, I was so disappointed at its outfit when I opened the box. It doesn't looks like new one, rather like someone used for decades and picked up from a very very old library's storage. Plz be careful and cautious on the outfit before books go out for its customers, it is not kinda book for kids.

eBook ends at Chapter 11. The final three chapters are missing. Makes it really hard to complete an course I am taking.

This is a quarter sized text book with tiny text, tabbed cardstock, and a spiral binding. $70 for this? What?

Spent almost $85 to get a new version and it is completely beat up and coming apart in places.

This is a great reference book for the techniques presented. It puts them in context, how to use them, and how to get the most value for your analysis requirements. Some of them are a bit harder to grok like the way they explain Quadrant Crunching, but the examples bring it together nicely. You might want to practice the techniques and to do that you might consider the companion case study book so you can try the techniques out.

The third edition of this excellent reference publication just keeps getting better and better. I used my second edition so often, that I wore out the cover. When it came time to upgrade I decided to buy the Kindle version. The only negative comment that I have is that some analytic techniques are dropped in favour of adding others in subsequent editions. This occurred with the first and second editions, and now with the second and third editions.
