Such an easily understandable book for young children
I love how this story is told. While the illustrations that make the words come alive. I have read it to a few of our SPED classes and they loved it!!!

Give a wonderful book for Christmas!
What does it mean to be Brown? Remember Obama bending down so a little Brown child could feel his hair? Well, this is a book for Brown children - and ALL children! The illustrations are simple but beautiful and after this book is read to a child, that child can "read" the book all by himself or herself.Give a toy and it will hold a child's interest for a short time; give a wonderful book and that will be treasured for a very long time! I intend to give this book as a last-all-year-long Christmas present!

A must have for sparking conversations about skin tones with young children!
This book is a precious nod to the beautiful variations of brown skin. I love that it acknowledges the complexities of these variations within a family unit while celebrating and giving adorable names to each of the shades. I will read this to my kindergarten and first grade classes every year, along with my own children one day. I strongly believe that every household needs a copy! This book is a meaningful tool for opening up a conversation about skin tones and finding beauty in our differences. Thank you so much Nancy and Constance!

Culturally Responsive Teaching in a Beautiful book
I LOVE this book. So does my kindergarten class. It portrays warm, loving members of a family, and compares their many shades of brown to those of lovely natural objects with powerful, positive connotations. The words and illustrations are so beautiful. This book is a precious celebration of family, of color, of self-love. I highly recommend it to teachers, but also to any family anywhere.

Stellar message of love for all of our skin colors!
Brown: The Many Shades of Love, through Nancy Johnson James' beautiful narrative and Constance Moore's captivating illustrations, presents an uplifting appreciation of the spectrum of skin colors. This book will expand the perspective of adults and children. Parents can read it to babies and toddlers, teachers can read along with kindergarten through third grade, and all other ages can enjoy reading to themselves. Highly recommended!

AWESOME for all kids!
This is a wonderful poem story, we read it at zoom class, then at cub scouts, and then I bought 3 more for gifts, we are all shades of brown, the only person I know who is "white" is Nicole Kidman!
