Roll Call: THUD: A Photographic Record of the Republic F-105 Thunderchief (Schiffer Military/Aviation History)

Odd format but an excellent reference.
A good addition to any Thud library. Odd format though, chronologically organized by tail number with a matching photo in most cases and a brief description. Allot of color photos. In some cases the only available photo of a particular jet may have been a formation flight or worse a line of them on the flight line. Descriptions were hit or miss, not always identifying the location or time of the photo. Numerous photos were of thuds serving in ANG service. Not of much use for the modeler. Of note was how numbing it was to read the descriptions and how often the phrase "shot down" applied to each serial number not to mention the additional info if available of KIA, POW or died in captivity regarding the aircrews. Such sacrifice should not be forgotten.

Serious Thud enthusiast must have for reference.
As other have stated this volume is a great must have for Thud fans,It's nice to have listed in order all the serial numbers most with pictures and a short note about the status as of the publication in 1996.It is interesting to read which airframes were upgraded for example to T-Sticks and so on.Lists which a/c were lost in action and accidents. It has a section with Thud Art, nose art that covers a nice variety including the VA ANG Thuds.Very nice forward by Col. Jack Broughton. This book has no technical info and I was not expecting such from the description. For my interest it was a worth while purchase. I bought it used and the book was in very good condition. Better than I expected.

The Magnificent Thud
This book is indispensable to F-105 completeists. It has operational details on every Thud ever built and photos (most color) of almost all of them. (There are just a few they couldn't find a photo of, most because they were the early combat victims.)There is a bit of general history germane to the F-105, but the clear purpose of the book is to be able to research individual aircraft. For that purpose and for the excellent photos of the 105 fleet, the book is great. If you are looking for a history book, I recommend the Jenkins or Plunkett books, but if it's color photos you want, this is a great book.

Extremely accurate
Extremely accurate "chronology" --- representation --- of the F-105 Thunderchief/ "Thud" showing the actual airplanes as they flew their missions.

Nice book, but not the best on the F-105

Very impressive and informative
A great book. Very nice pictures and informative history. The print quality is fantastic as you expect from Schiffer. One of a series of individual aircraft history books. I own several and have yet to be disappointed.

Geht so!
