Better than expected for connecting old desktop to smartphone
I bought this to connect an older Windows 7 desktop lacking a wifi radio to my phone's hot spot and it works much better than I expected. I live in a rural area and cellular is the only broadband option (other than satellite). For the ten bucks I paid I am very pleased. It will pick up my phone signal from the opposite end of the house through a couple of walls and about 45 feet away. I have had zero problems with it after about three months use. An inexpensive solution for computers that came without wifi installed.

Worked Great. Good price.
This was easy to install. It literally took less than 10 minutes total. It works just as well as the factory installed wireless adapters in my other laptops. I gave it a 4-star rating because I wish they could make these things a bit smaller so they wouldn't catch on things so easily. On the other hand, it's smaller than the average flash drive so it could be worse.

Works like a charm with Windows 7
This product worked well in a HTPC build I just finished. The reception is excellent...it works just as well as a PCI Linksys wireless adapter with an antenna that I had to replace (I could not get the Linksys working after upgrading from XP to Windows 7...despite following instructions on updating drivers - which apparently worked for everyone else but me). Anyway, do not hesitate to buy this product. The only knock against it is that the top/cap does not fit on the back of the adapter - which was probably done on purpose to decrease interference...but hey, if the wireless signal is already going through the adapter's case, what's one more layer of plastic? Anyway, I just threw the cap in my mobo box. Heads up - the installation CD is in the packaging...it's behind the paper insert. It's a miniature CD...just letting you know so you don't throw it away with the plastic packaging!

Perfect (just a little "hack" needed)
This device works extremely well in my home. However, as other reviewers have noted, it doesn't fit into the back of the Patriot Box Office. A huge design flaw that the engineers should be ashamed of, but there is an incredibly easy fix that only takes a minute or two to pull off. It took me longer to explain it below than it did to actually do it. Locate the USB plug on the back of the Box Office and attempt to place the wireless adapter in it. It will only go in so far before the black plastic casing of the adapter hits the black plastic casing of the Box Office. Mark this spot on the Box Office and set the adapter aside. Next, take a screwdriver and hold it over an open flame or hot electric burner for 30 seconds or so. Now, apply the hot end of the screwdriver to the Box Office where you marked it. The plastic will melt away. Be careful so not to burn yourself, push a little bit as you go and be careful cleaning the melted plastic off the screwdriver. Repeat as necessary to melt away a little channel for the adapter to slide into. Let the housing cool. The adapter should now slide right into the USB plug.

Till death do us apart !!!
Patriot box willn't go wireless witout their patriot wireless dongle contrary to statement that it can work with any other brand .i tried with linksys, netgear and buffalo dongles but in vain .So i ordered one from here and worked like charm in first try.just press wps on router and wireless option from patriot box .paired within 40 seconds and will accompany each other for rest of their product life. Its tiny in size and fits perfectly in usb port of box .Earlier reviewers complained about size i think company changed dimensions as i 'd no trouble with it at all.Good speed, easy configration and fair price . 5 /5

Not for KUBUNTU - OS
This device works well if you are using a Windows OS but if you have a KUBUNTU 7.16 on your computer, "forget about it"! There are no directions on how to install and it does not recognize the driver. It was not a total loss in that I sold it to a friend who uses Windows and he was pleased with its operation.

Great! Get it now if you really need one of these!
This thing really works. I use it upstairs for my hackintosh computer meanwhile my router is downstairs in the living room. It is a medium distance yet I get 96% to 100% signal. It's perfect and it works under each and every OS and/or computer I have tried it on. It's well worth it.

Works great with my windows 7 laptop. Didnt even need to install the drivers. Worked out of the box. Good range and I get around 40Mbps throughput. I am very far from the router and still no issues.

After some experimenting with this, I'm now getting my full 60Mb/s internet download speed (from Virgin Media Super Hub 2). When I first plugged this in, speed testing showed download of 22Mb/s. I knew better speed was possible as I have a laptop that easily gets 45Mb/s in the same room (upstairs and back from the room with the Super Hub 2 router). Trying different USB sockets made a bit of a difference, getting a few more Mb/s. But what made a MASSIVE difference on my PC was to connect this to the USB socket via a USB2 extender cable, e.g. I have this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/Belkin-Pro-Series-Extension-Cable/dp/B0000DG4WN. Uncoiling that cable fully gave the biggest improvements and now, with this Patriot adapter a couple of metres or so from the PC I'm getting my maximum possible 60Mb/s download speed (actually 66Mb/s at times, guess Virgin build in a bit extra). I was going to dump this for a PCI wireless N card - their antennas would have helped I think, but using that cheap USB extender cable has sorted this for me so no need. Your experience may vary and I have no idea how this Patriot performs above speeds of 66Mb/s.

I was informed By Peterborough Organ Centre UK, that this item would be suitable for the Yamaha Tyros 4! But when inserted the screen on the piano/Organ reads NOT SUITABLE FOR THIS MACHINE. So I guess I was informed wrongly, so I will chuck it in the draw and might come in some were. As for its quality I cannot say But I will give 5*****s for the customer shipping to the Uk. Thank you for sending what I asked for! But I still do not know what I need,to run the Yamaha Tyros 4. and who do I believe when asking for there help. Johnny
