Mounting Screws Are MIA…Fine Tuning Is On The Menu….
First of all, the mounting screws did not show up even though the outer carton was completely intact! The screws either did not get into the carton at the factory, were “borrowed” to fulfill someone else’s incomplete order or I was sent a chuck that was returned…..minus the screws! The latter is a distinct possibility since the carton inners was a disheveled mess! Everything was in a completely unorganized manner….foam protection was totally crumbled up (I would expect some due to weight but not totally shredded up as was the case here)! I think I was sent a chuck that someone was not happy with and the mounting screws were not included in the return! I must say that I do not cotton to sellers who send out returns instead of new items as advertised! In my case, I knew exactly what screws I needed to buy and I luckily located the appropriate mounting screws (yes, the exact type as ones that I should have gotten in the package) and carefully installed the chuck. The chuck has virtually no runout on the body, a great start, but reality hit when I got to read outs from the jaws….well beyond anything one could live with! It’s not a total disaster but it shows that quality assurance is not a priority in Chinese manufacturing! Once again, I see I have an involved process of fine tuning ahead much like what it took when I bought the Chinese lathe this “new” chuck is now mounted on! That was many years ago! And, yes I know exactly what I have to do to get everything squared away! In hindsight, I probably should have gone with independent jaws but the price of this chuck was reasonable enough to expect some “adjustments”! But, sometimes price has to be weighed less heavily in order to get quality! Lessons learned! I will work it out but my negatives of this experience may help others make their decision on how much they will do to set it up properly!

Out of true
I rarely give a 1 star rating, but when something is not usable, I felt I had to. They should not call it a 4" chuck, since it is a 100 mm chuck. After spending a lot of time trying to mount it to a proper 100 mm face-plate, I could not get all three screws in. I decided to put a bar in and chuck it in my lathe to check true. I could not believe the wobble. It was nearly 2 mm out in just 100 mm diameter. (Beyond the gauge limit). You might be able to use shims and washers, but you shouldn't have to.

Learn from my mistake. Buy once cry once.
Out of the 4 different chucks I own, this one is the most inaccurate one I've seen. A 4 jaw is supposed to be more precise, but this particular one is only purposeful as a paperweight. For example, I put a known-straight piece of bar stock in it, and it measures .0012" runout. I wish I would've tried using it a month ago when I was still within the 30 day return time. Great paperweight though 👍
